How do I change the stage quality to improve rendering performance in Flash Player AIR? StageQuality doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong? I'm using this in the Main() app class constructor:
stage.quality = StageQuality.LOW;
Is there no other way to improve performance in AIR apps?
does anyone know of a class or source code that can automatically change the quality of the .swf based on the frame rate?

View 12 Repliesi have the ingame sprite and it needs to be in StageQuality.LOW due to some prerformance problems, and the hud needs to be in StageQuality.HIGH... but they are in the same stage. I tried changing quality before rendering the ingame (to a big bitmapdata) but changing this property every frame is too expensive.
View 2 RepliesCurrently one of our teams suffers from a very strange phenomena: after manipulating the z property of a MovieClip and changing the stage quality some event listeners of nested MovieClips seem to disappear (or at least not react to the proper events any longer).
The problem also only appears when doing both, changing the stage quality and manipulating the zproperty.
Here is a simple class demonstrating the issue:

View 2 RepliesI have an AS3 video player I've put together using fairly standard Netstream method and it plays my flv's fine. The problem is, the sound quality varies wildly depending on who is looking at it. When I test locally, the audio in the video is fine, but on a windows machine it goes horrifically loud to the point of distortion, also the client (outside the UK) has said it sounds fine to them, so It appears to be only happening here.

I'm trying to code flash player which can take these parameters(file name, start, end points) from html parameters.
NetConnection, NetStream and Video components are that i'm using. But i couldn't change the starting point to load flv.
I hava a project in flashdevelop 4.0 and I used flex sdk 4.0.
Although I add support for FP 11 in flex config file and also in project settings and compiler options, I still get my project stated after comiplation in FP 10 not FP 11. (I uninstalled FP 10 with adobe unninstaller).
And also when I embed the swf in html page with swfobject I keep getting that I need to install FP 11 which is already installed.
So I am asking is it neccesary to migrate to flex sdk 4.5 in order to use FP 11?
If this is not a programming question than move it, but I dont know where to place it elsewhere.

Because I addChild to the stage 1000 times but only removeChild 800 times, and even so, stage.numChildren returns to 0 after all my objects have exceeded the stage boundary. I have to mention that I am moving objects from left to right (it's a game) and the object's X and Y properties eventually exceed the stage boundaries. Does something happen automatically then??? Like... events removed or something like that? This is a continuation of this thread of mine, where I initially thought addChildren has issues: [URL].
View 5 RepliesI have a main character in my Box2d game that has a b2PolygonShape collision. When the player crouches I am changing the body to a smaller b2PolygonShape. The logic works fine, but when I change the size (height) of the collision the character starts to fall.
Is it possible to create the new body with an offset (localPosition?) so the position of the body stays the same? This way I can play the crouch animation and change the collision without worrying that the position will change and make my sprite go bananas.
I searched this issue in Google and this forum. How it's possible the IDE Player? When I test in the IDE, it uses the still the 10.0.2.54. The external is the debug version of 10.0.22.87. Ah, its for Mac OS!
View 2 RepliesI didn't find that my flash is larger than the browsering area on screen until I publish and preview it in my browser but I do want all the content to be displayed on the screen. All I need to do is to move everything up for about 150 px.(in other words, to shorten the stage by 150 from the top but I can only cut the stage from the bottom ) Is there a way I can change the position of the stage like what I can do to the artboard in AI?

Flash as many other graphical frameworks use the top-left corner as the coordinate origin (0,0) because it's how the underlying memory model is by convention. But it would be really simpler for my calculations if the origin was in the center of the stage, because all the game revolves around the center and uses a lot of trigonometry, angles, etc. Is there some built-in method like Stage::
setOrigin( uint, uint );
or something like that?
