I am trying to make a gradient mask over my text. It looks great the gradient fills the shape of my text. When I publish the flash video the text and gradient switch. The text is no longer masked and I cannot seem to figureThe top half is what it looks like inside the IDE, the bottom half is when it's published.

View 1 RepliesI have a movieclip on my main timeline. Inside of the movie clip are a few goodies which load in a sound clip. I'm using this code to play the sound:

This works great, until the main timeline is navigated backwards. For example I have web pages on frames 146,147,148, 149, etc... The menu links go to anyone of the given frames/pages. If I navigate so that the timeline is advancing, the muzak keeps playing. However, if I'm on frame 150 and use a menu button which takes us back to 147 (or anything before 150 on the timeline), the sound quits.
Ive have a pre-loader that works fine when testing locally. But when uploaded the pre-loader reverses in all tested browsers apart from firefox (see attached image). I cant think why it would reverse like this especially after the document has been published. Its as if from somewhere the swf is getting negative values when loading the external file? How would that be possible. Local testing with traces show no such negative values..... :
View 4 RepliesI am dynamicly adding xml data into three text fields buy looping and then adding the text_info movieclip to a scroll_box movie clip then adding the scroll_box to the _myCanvas movieClip. I want to mask the data but am not getting the results I though I should.

what i am doing is to make something along the lines of the "scriptable mask" tutorial Inigo was kind enough to put up.My idea is to have a large mask behind the whole of my flash site, this masks a colour image with a black & white one (nothing tricky). The image I am using is actually 5 separate images combined, and each is a pic of certain parts of the site.I also have a very basic set of buttons along the bottom... each corresponding to each section.
All I want is to set it up so that when I mouse over the buttons, the _x of the mask moves to correspond with the correct image... really very basic... or so I thought .If anything it should be easier to do than what is in Inigo's tut (where he uses the _x of the mouse to move the mask)... i just cant seem to get it to work with a nice easing effect (its easy to get the mask to simply snap to each coordinate, but I need it to smoothly move).
I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.
I download "scrollbar_vfinal_2004 from this site and use it my own movie but when I test the movie, the text is not showing. Without text lay mask, the scrollbar works.

I can successfully mask a circle over a rectangle, and even mask a rectangle over text, but text over a gradient rectangle just doesn't work - I end up with the rectangle moving across the stage, but no text mask.

These are dynamically attached based on the number of xml nodes into a holder clip and I have that holder clip masked and for some reason the entry movieclips will show, but the actual text doesn't. when I get rid of the mask then the text shows.

However, I find that when I change the text of the dynamic text field (whose containing movieclip is masked by a graphic), the text no longer appears at all.
When i remove the masking, the text changes properly when asked, but when it it masked, the text does not show at all.
I'm relatively new to Flash, and I�m in the process of creating a flash intro to my website. The problem is, whenever I preview one of my Mask layers by pressing Ctrl+Enter, the mask effect doesn�t work � it merely shows the masking object. The puzzling thing for me, which leads me to suggest that the mask should work is that in the normal timeline view, when I lock both the mask and masked layers and press Enter or slide through the frames � the effect works perfectly. On Ctrl+Enter all of my other Masks work fine as well - the one in question has text as the mask content.
It only stops working when I view it as an .swf file or play the movie with Ctrl+Enter. Does anyone know why this is happening, how I can get around it, or whether it will be a problem when published?

View 3 RepliesIt's a flash banner with a simple image, and then I want an xml of quotes that get pulled into the banner a mask scrolls in and then when it scrolls out, the words have changed to another random quote?When I mean scroll I mean the quote remains in place but a mask appears (from right to left) that covers the words, once the 'mask has got to the left side of the quote all the letters are gone - the mask the reverses (right to left) to reveal a new quote."Random Quotes from XML mask swap in Flash" isn't getting the right results!
View 5 RepliesI've discovered the joy that you cannot display dynamic text boxes if they are masked.After browsing the internet I found a few things to try, first embedding the font, which I have done, and that didn't work.The other solution involves setting the mask to a display object, which I've done, sort of.I create a Sprite() in code (I use Flex Develop, and never code on the time line), then use the Sprite.graphics to draw the mask, then set my main stage movieClip's .mask property to equal this layer.
View 3 Repliesi have the AS setting the mask, and my fonts are embedded.. but the dynamic text doesnt mask my other movieclip.my dynamic text is "fly_in" MC with the text field inside. the MC label is: "headerTxt_mask" the sheen is labeled "sheenMC" and put in a layer below "headerTxt_mask" in the same "fly_in" MC then on the first frame of my scene i have:

I created a loader class which creates a text pre loader and works fine until I add a mask over the images.Then the preloader doesn't display anymore. The preloader is called "progressOutput"

So I have a text which is saying for instance "hello". And when i press a button there is an animation which starts to erase the "hello" text and a pencil is writing a second text. So somewhere in the middle there is a blank text holder( i mean the place where the text is suppose to be)! The question is - is there a way with code when the animation have reached a certain frame to change the text because i can't do it with animation!
View 1 RepliesMask causing text under it to appear to move...I have a mask that scrolls to the right over text.Before the mask comes on stage the same text is on a different frame before it in the exact same coordinates. But when the mask appears it makes the text under it seem to slightly move to the left. I've realized it is the mask that makes this seem to happen.I'm probably not doing something right with the mask, but I'm not sure.

My problem is basically I place my content box in the mask and it will start the whole thing at half way... the box will scroll and everything works. it's just that the content starts half way, so half the box will be empty towards the bottom.
I have a dynamic text box and i want to mask it but its not working. i remember once someone was showing me something that had to be done to a dynamic text box to get _alpha effects on them and I wonder if its the same thing. Problem is, I don't know what that "thing" is.
