I want a custom cursor I can edit in the .mxml file. For the moment I got a static one with a class extends Sprite. Is for a SketchPad application, the cursor will be the color and the size of the user choice. Let me know if it possible and how.[code]...
View 1 RepliesI've found that if I use the CursorManager to set a cursor ursorManager.setBusyCursor() — then set stage.mouseChildren = false, the cursor set by CursorManager is replaced by the "default" mouse cursor the next time the mouse is moved. I'm setting stage.mouseChildren = false so that, while the mouse is being dragged, other "stuff" on the stage won't get mouse events (eg, so that mouse-over affordances aren't triggered if I'm in the middle of a drag).

View 2 RepliesCoworker is developing a Flash project and has a small dynamic text field inside a movieclip. Imagine the text field being 200 pixels wide by 50 high, and sitting at the top of the canvas. As she moves her mouse around the LOWER part of the canvas, directly 'under' the text field, her cursor changes from the standard arrow, to the vertical bar (that is used for text selection). This is inexplicable and odd and is also interfering with her ability to do other things in the project. Has anyone seen this behavior? She has turned off 'Selectable' for the text field but that doesn't help things.

The problem is that this movie clip has a roll_over on the children, so when I put the second line of code my roll_over doesn't work anymore.
so the custom cursor I'm using works on the main timeline of my project. However, there are buttons in the application that load in movie clip pop-up windows and when this happens the cursor stays on the main timeline behind the movie clip resluting in the cursor not being seen. View 3 RepliesFor some strange reason, i cant get the precise cursor to work on the pencil tool. I prefer to use the pencil tool when drawing things. I usually use the brush tool for painting in the lines , or sketching something out. I did went to preferences, but even so, the pencil still doesnt turn into a precise cursor.

Every time this timer ticks, it makes the cursor blink to a clock and then back to the arrow. Since this is happening every 5 seconds, it gets pretty annoying. Is there a way for me to prevent the cursor from changing when the timer ticks?UPDATE: I've figured out a work-around by setting a custom cursor with high priority (I just made a .png with a cursor in it).
View 1 RepliesI have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies.Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab".Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index);
where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end.

you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

Everything looks in order, all the variables are correct, the input text box is set to input - it just wont let you write in it. I even went into a blank project, created a rudimentary setup, with an input text box one frame and a button, with the simple script:

Setup a button that moved to the frame with the designated output dynamic text box, tested it, it worked. So I tried moving the input box to the program - will not work.... It does the same thing, cannot type in it. I tried moving the text box to a different frame, used the simpler script to output, made no difference.
