Jan 20, 2010I am using a custom cursor for my flash app and when I have the cursor click button1 (menu_btn in the code) it goes to scene2 and when I click button2 (current_btn in the code) it goes back to scene1. The problem is that when I click on button2 it leaves an image of the cursor right there on the button. It doesn't happen on button1. It was suggested that I am calling "cursor = new Cursor();" and extra time, but I am not. The code is below.

Jun 24, 2009I'm working on my personal portfolio site and desperately need help with some AS3. my knowledge about AS3 is very rudimentary. Hope anyone who's I want to change the pointer cursor to custom movieclip when mouseover different invisible buttons. These buttons are mainly forward & backward button for my gallery. I got some help from other site but still unsolved. Please take a look at my fla attachment to point out what's wrong with the coding. To elaborate a little bit more as what I wish to achieve you can take a look at the sample URL...I just need the pointer cursor to turn to custom mc when it mouseover the hit area of the respective buttons.

Apr 26, 2011I have made a simple "maze game".Player is sent to frame 10 if they reach the end goal or frame 20 if they accidentally "rollover" my walls (button). In frame 1, I successfully remove the mouse and add a Movie Clip to the Mouse/Cursor. I remove the MC when they go to frame 10 OR frame 20 and then when they replay and are sent back to frame 1. The MC again appears as the Cursor. GREAT. Now here's my problem. When they are sent back to frame 1, I want the Cursor to be at an exact position to replay the game. Right now, it ends up wherever they have the cursor pointing and if it is touching my "walls", game over immediately. Here is the code I have on frame 1. It is working BUT I need to add code that makes the cursor ALSO go to a specific position.

Feb 14, 2008I've got a couple of MovieClips on my stage that use the onRelease event to run a function, this automatically makes the mouse cursor change to a hand symbol when over the MovieClip. That's all good, but I sometimes want to 'disable' my mouse, and when it's in this state I want to change the cursor back to a pointer. This should be handled in my controller, so having a statement around my onRelease function isn't ideal.

Jan 2, 2010I'm working on a Curling game and have a broom moving back and forth based on the mouseX position. Although I thought it would be as simple as recording the current broom position vs. the previous broom position that's not the case. This is because when you move back and forth the current and last postion may be at the very same point, like the center of the screen, depending on when exactly the mouse position is recorded. So, moving the mouse very slowly may give the same result and moving the mouse super fast where the x coordinate just happens to be recorded at or near the same point.
I tried using both an enterFrame event and a timer. Both yielded essentially the same results. I can't think of a way around this off the top of my head. Is there another way to record how fast the user is moving the mouse back and forth?

Jul 16, 2011I did an flv, added a Cue point which has an invisible button appear on stage with a navigateTourl code. Works fine on my server but this video had to be uploaded to a Drupal site which I knew nothing about and it is up there now. As I look at the video I see the player is different as well as I get the hand cursor all the way thru the video. if I click the mouse it just stops the video then click again and it resumes. How can I disable this so I get the cursor just for the get url button.

Jan 10, 2010I have a script to display a particular custom cursor when the mouse is over a particular button. It works OK, in that the cursor is displayed on MOUSE_OVER and hidden on MOUSE_OUT.The problem is that the cursor flickers, and its ability to activite the button on CLICK seems intermittent.Trace actions show me that the functions assigned to MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT are repeatedly being called when the custom cursor is over the button.This happens even if I take my hand off the mouse, and the function assigned to MOUSE_MOVE is not being called.Here is the code. (Inspect is a class added to a movie clip in the library, exported for AS.)
