Actionscript 3 :: Is Extended Permission In Facebook Need To Be Record By Developer
Apr 11, 2010
I am developing a Flash-based application for Facebook. I read many comment that the application need to pop-up dialog for user to decide to extend their permission.The question is, who will record those decision? Facebook or the developer? because it might be a problem if user is asking the court for their privacy.
I'm working with the Facebook Actionscript API (no PHP or Javascript), and I'm having trouble granting access to extended permissions, like publish_actions. I'm using the following login: var opts:Object = {perms:'read_stream,publish_actions,offline_access,user_photos'}; Facebook.login(handleLogin, opts);
I get two "Request for Permission" windows. The first says my app needs access to "Your Photos". The second says my app would like permission to "Access posts in your News Feed" and "Access your data anytime". Why can't I request access to "publish_actions"? It looks like there may be two permissions levels - regular and "extended". It looks like extended permissions may require a "scope" parameter, instead of "perms". How/where to use the "scope" parameter.
I'm making a Flash game which will be up on Facebook, I'm using Python/Django on the backend but to talk to Facebook. I use the Facebook Flash API. The problem is when I ask for extended permission from the user, using FBML. I get a link which I have to click and get the permission. How can I make sure a popup appears instead of the link. I'm using the following code.<fb:prompt-permission perms="publish_stream">permission</fb:prompt-permission>
I'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):
I have 1 class (that is extending a UIcomponent) that is representing a component. In that component I create different instances of another class that is also a UIComponent but this class doesn't show up in de first class. I see that it is running and that it has the correct hights but I got the feeling that it doesn't show up with this hights. If I trace I see the width and height is 200 X 200 but there is still nothing visible in my component.
That is the entire code for my program and when it runs, nothing happens. I know the program has access to the laptop's webcam because it can trace the name and a similar program I wrote works with the same webcam. This program doesn't even ask for permission to access the webcam so I'm rather confused.
Im working on an app with flash and zinc which requires the use of Webcam...
Now my problem is whenever i run my program it ask for permission that "local is requesting access to your camera and microphone".. well i know that if i give remeber in settings tab it wont ask again.. but my app will be used by many clients where i dont want to show it is made with flash... so can anyone provide solution so that ther permission is override and to show the cam..
I'm trying to determine the practical difference between using the com.facebook.session.WebSession and com.facebook.session.JSSession. The documentation ([URL]) has more around WebSession - but the example I have which is closest to what solution I'm trying to implement uses JSSession and it looks like I could avoid all of the JavaScript pass-through & ExternalInterface calls I'm making. It appears that the benefit of using this new ActionScript Facebook API is to avoid having to make all of the Facebook calls via JavaScript.
I have literally spent HOURS trying to solve this mystery... but simply can't seem to get hold of it. I am using the same code lines (literally!) as the example here (official adobe tutorial) and I get different result.

Everything works fine, i.e. everything till it is time to fire the loggedin event. I get asked to log in and all permissions are asked correctly. After I log myself in to facebook, the loggedin event doesn't fire. Is there any way of solving this problem??
When i publish the streams on a linux server, the .flv files have permissions like this:-rw-rw----. And i don't have permissions to access this file on a client browser... Currently, i can only change the permission using "chmod" manually
I'm trying to upload images generated in my Flash application to an album on Facebook.This was working earlier in the year, but revisiting the code I now get the following OAuthException:#324) Requires upload file am using the most recent version of the ActionSccript Facebook API. The setup works like this:irst I do the authentication check with PHP to ensure users have granted permission before having to wait for the Flash to load. I'm requesting the publish_stream and user_photos permissions. The access token comes back correctly.Once the user is authenticated the Flash is loaded and performs its own initialisation, passing fileUpload=true as part of the init object:
var initObject:Object = { channelUrl : "myChannelURL.html", fileUpload : true
i need to connect to have a button on my website that connects to facebook (if not already logged in) and posts to the users wall.I've only done this from within an iFrame - do i still need AppId etc etc?
I develop failover fms application with server-side action script. But i have a problem that FMS can't continue to record stream with record mode "append".
Environment: FMS 4.5.1 r484 on CentOS 5.5/6.0
Goals:
I have 2 same data streams in failover application and republish primary to livepkgr application.
I have to store of last 10 hours intact recorded video (DVR).
Failover app logic:
1. I create NetConnection and NetStream to livepackager;
2. When primary stream is connected it attach the primary stream to livePackager NetStream
3. If primary stream is disconnected it reattach the backup stream to livePackager NetStream
Problem: I have testing environment. It stop primary stream every 5 min, and started primary stream 5 min after stopping.
It work's, fine, but after a few hours testing LIVEPACKAGER falls. It can't record a stream, NetStream.Record.Start -> NetStream.Record.NoAccess -> NetStream.Record.Stop
Search a solution: I try to relaunch recording process and have no success. try to shutdown/start livepackager, it's same, try to restart server, same no success.
I cant stream.clear() or record with mode "record" cause it clears my dvr cache, I cant clean stream directory in livepackager application.
I built this simple video publisher a while back and now users are complaining that they can't click on the allow when prompted for access to their webcam. It seems to be widespread on Macs but I can replicate the bug on Firefox in Windows 7 with the latest flash player.
I have a facebook application where the user choose 4 of his friends and then it creates a video (swf) with the pictures of your friends in it (loaded via xml). So I need to share this video on the user timeline. Everything works fine but the video is not embedded in the post on his timeline, there is only a post with the link to the page in it.The weird thing is, if I post the url directly on my timeline, the video is embedded, but not if the same link is posted via the application.here is my code called by the share button in js :
function postToFeed() { var obj = { method: 'feed',[code].........
I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?
I am trying to create a multi-player game and I found a VideoPhone sample that each client must have a key. But in this forum, I found a MMORPG that do not need any key for login.How can I do to implement this?
I have been doing ASP.NET / C# development for several years now. I have recently been offered a project that will need to be a winforms application (I am assuming .net 2.0).
Does anyone know which programs work best together with flash for importing graphics that are vector based. I need to know what program a graphic designer should use, so the programmer (me) can easily import the design into flash without much fuss. I know that illustrator is kind of good, but i heard that you could also use indesign.If you know of any limitations or little quirks one has to watch while exporting importing to / from flash or illustrator, had a problem with an illustrator file once that used many effects, it crashed my flash ide durring import.
The problem I have is that on linux, the flv files generated by fms are having permission 660. Due to this they become kind of useless as I cant do much with them. Is there a way to make fms generate streams with better default permission?
I've gotten far on my own just using online tutorials and dinking around in Flash on my own but my boss(es) are starting to ask for more complex stuff that I simply can't learn by just piecing together my Flash education.I know there's many, many books out there that will teach you Flash but can anyone recommend any particular one(s) that are more concentrated in creating Web elements as opposed to game or animation development?
I can't find in the Adobe Facebook API how to log the user out of Facebook. The FacebookSessionUtil (and the related sessions and Facebook classes) all have a .logout() function, which will invalidate the user's current *session* within the swf, but it doesn't log the user out of Facebook.
What am I missing here? How are you supposed to log the user out of Facebook with this API? Since it's part of the TOS for Facebook Connect apps, you'd think this would be available in the API somewhere.
I am trying to add a link button to my facebook page on my profile website, but I get flash player's permission warning when I press button and open new link window. Is the only way to permit to goto link setting flash player's security option manually? or is there any way to do not show this warning and permit going throw?
I have gotten the vhost to work with the owner of the applications folder set to root:rootI need to allow them access to their files by cpanel and for that to work their files have tobe owned by their user name user:user well they vhosts can't be accessed unless itsroot:roo
I have embedded an online-call on a website.Everithing works fine in all browsers except Google Chrome. Flash plugin in Chrome doesn't ask permission to use microphone and doesn't call. Any suggestions?P.S. The size of the Flash object on the page is enough for displaying the dialog.At first size of Flash block was the issue but it didn't prevent flash element from calling to our call-centre even though caller couldn't been heard. Now we fixed the size and dialog pops up in all major browsers except Chrome. It feels like Flash movie in Chrome doesn't come to using microphone.
I'm having a problem trying to download FMS developer edition.Basically when I try to download I get a window where I have to update my address data, which I do so correcly. After that I see the following screen:After this I continue and then I get sent back to the previous screen with the message "a general error occurred please try again".
Just looking for more recommendations for great Ojective-C-Cocoa books. My ideal book would be one with actual hands-on walk thru examples increasing in complexity and doesn't spend unnecessary time on basic OOP. Trying to leverage what knowledge I DO have in Actionscript 3. (or maybe its all about unlearning?)
I understand Flash CS5 isn't the best way to make an app, but I'd really like to test out the apps I've made with it on my iPhone. Has anyone come up with a way to modify Flash CS5 so it doesn't require a Developer Certificate or Provisioning Profile (like the way you would modify Xcode so you can compile apps without paying $99 for the developer program)?
I am a Java developer. I am good at learning new languages but I can't make head or tail of AS3. It seems like a different mindset that I can't get into or something.Could you provide links a AS3 tutorials that explain everything well, preferable targeted for people who have already programmed?
