Actionscript 3 :: Movie Stops Execution When It Doesn't Have Focus
Feb 28, 2011
I have two flash movies, on different tabs of a user's browser. They use LocalConnection to talk to each other, but the one on the tab which isn't active doesn't do anything until you switch back to that tab, can you change this? Maybe in the embed tag?
My program reads a rather large data file that is crucial to the display of the program I am making.I have an event listener that waits for my loader to load all data from the file, and it then adds all the data (and parses it) to a 2d array.Unfortunately the program flow doesnt wait for the loading to finish, so when it checks the array, it is still empty because nothing is loaded into the array yet.
i have created a dialpad kind of application which has a bach button at top which takes u to previous screen, a display text box and buttons. all of them are movieclips.
Now the issue is when i press down button, focus is expected to go from prevBtn->display->oneBtn, but the focus goes like prevBtn->oneBtn. Other thing is that if i press up key after going on the screen, the focus goes like callBtn->zeroBtn->eightBtn->fiveBtn->twoBtn->display->prevBtn.
one more observation is if i take the display down after all the buttons, the behavior is normal and focus goes to display.
im using as3 and components. here i make a combobox.editable=true; i type something inside.. then click outside, the combobox doesn't loose focus. i tried to write stage.focus=null;. but i got d following error
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. at flash.display:isplayObjectContainer/removeChild() at fl.controls::ComboBox/close() at fl.controls::ComboBox/fl.controls:ComboBox::onStageClick()
It successfully gives the TextField "txt" focus because when I type, the characters appear in the input textfield, however the familiar blinking text cursor/beam does not appear in the textfield. This makes you think it does not have focus, so you click the textfield to give it focus -- completely defeating the purpose.
I want to be notified when a FLex Panel gets or loses focus. I've overridden thefocusInHandler() and the focusOutHandler(), but they don't get called when I click on the panel. The panels style changes indicating that it has the focus, but the handler doesn't get called.
I have this complex XML processing code that builds up thousands of objects on stage. This might take some time. Perhaps not that big time to bring up that message about slow code execution, however signifficant enough to cause interface uncomfortabilities. I understand very well that I can restructure my code in order to save all contextual variables, all counters in an object that is passed down to onEnterFrame events that process it a little bit and then pass it further, until the job is done. However, before I go into dissecting my code, I wanted to make sure if there really is not a way how tom tell flash player do it's frame rendering routine while a complex code is executed in background (without splitting it up).
error in my movie clip. The code is working just fine. The effects are just what I needed. I have a set of 24 buttons, executing 24 URLs when clicked. buttons are responding on rollover, onRollout and onRelease states. But the problem is when I click the butoons randomly and very fast, multiple buttons remins in onRelease state (as if more than one button has been selected). I do not undetastand wheather this a problem with my coding or problem with my settinf in flash or a bug in flash itself (i'm too small to detect a bug in flash though!!). My setting are: actionscript 1. fps 30.
I have a web page which has a SWF file embeded. I have an issue with the focus.
Steps to reproduce:
1)Click on a HTML Text Field which is inside a Iframe
2)Click on a Flex Field.
3)Begin to type some text.
Expected Result is the entered text should go in the Flex TextInput field but the actual Result is it goes into HTML text field.
This is the bug which was filed but closed without any resolution. The workaround suggested there doesnt work. ( bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-12377 )
This is happening only in IE 6.0 and IE 7.0. Below is the live example. [URL]
I want my movie to loop. Would prefer an If/Else loop so that the movie plays a certain number of times then plays the opening of a screen then stops. This is a simple 4 screen ad I am doing for a school project. Can't get it to work. I tried containing my code in the proper loop syntax, didn't work. Then wrapping the loop in a function and calling that with a timer event, didn't work. My final solution was to call my whole movie in a timer event set to play once. Then calling the entire movie again in a second timer event set to play 20 times and set to start at an interval when the first movie ended. This did work but each time the movie plays thru function calls drop off making the movie degrade.
I load a movie into a movie clip object and display it. Now how can I tell when the movie executing in the movie clip object has ended? Is there some event handler or listener that I can use?[code]
I have a movie with two scenes. Actually it's a site, so the first scene is a preloader, the second is the site itself. On the second scene the movie stops playing, but there isn't a stop(); anywhere.
does anyone know how to 'focus' on a flash movie? for example, my flash webpage has a button that when clicked opens a flash movie. i want the main site to darken and the flash movie to be in front in focus.url...
when i have this line active(the red one) it gives me automatic focus, so no clicking to be able to detect key input so i got that going for me which is nice BUT when i have it active(not commented out) i get this big yellow line which goes away when i click it(seeBelow)
I have a very simple player which connects to a shoutcast stream. All it has is a play/stop button, and a volume control, which control a mp3 Playback Component. However, everytime I click anything within the flash movie, a little focus border appears around my flash movie. You know how when you press tab on the keyboard to switch between different elements in a program, such as different buttons, and that little dotted border appears on the button you are on? Well, that happens to me, and I am not sure why or how to get rid of it.
I am making a banner that has multiple movie clips sharing the same area, creating different rainbow effects when different areas (invisible buttons) are moused over.
First of all I couldn't figure out if there was a way to have one invisible button over the whole area that changed to a different colored effect with each mouse over (first mouse over the black and whites would change to reds, second would change it to blues, third would change it to browns, etc.). Since I couldn't figure this out I settled on creating three buttons covering a third of the banner each, so when the mouse passes over one button it changes to reds, over another button it changes to blues, over the third it changes to browns.
The effects are movie clips where each frame has another stripe changing color so it goes in a wave effect from one to the next, and then goes back to white and black in the same manner. The first frame of each movie clip I had to turn into a nested movie clip so I could turn the alpha to 0, since I was going to have these color effect movie clips on top of one another in the main timeline on different layers, and so you could see the effect even if that color layer wasn't on top. I used the same nested movie clip with zero alpha for the first frame of each color effect clip (reds movie clip, blues movie clip, etc), so I dont' know if that's an issue.
Anyway, it seemed to work fine for a while, but after working on it for a while longer (and not getting any further since I removed most of the changes I made), now when I test the movie the mouse over does not seem to work correctly. It works fine, seemingly, for the first time I mouse over each button, but in order to have it work again I have to mouse over the button twice, and then it will pause randomly during a part of the clip and I have to move my mouse back over for the movie clip to continue.
I can't tell if this is because of the overlapping movie clips, or because my buttons are messed up, or if my actionscript is messed up, or if the timeline has to be longer, or what. Currently the timeline is 55 frames, the same as each movie clip.
I put a movieclip_instance.stop(); command in the first frame of the main timeline, is there a better way to do this? Should I put the stop command in the movie clip itself?
Here is a section of my AS in the main timeline, this is my first time programming ever, in any language, and trying to learn from the internet is more difficult than I thought it would be.
redmovie.stop(); red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, playRed); function playRed(event:MouseEvent):void { redmovie.play(); }
how to detect if an animation in a movie clip stops?I make myself clear:I have a movie clip with different animations which I call from the stage with mc.gotoAndPlay("frame label"). Being these animation one after another in the timeline I call a stop() function to avoid the animation after to begin without being called.
Now, on the stage I want to play one of these animations and when this stops I want to make something happen. Is there an event that tells me "this movie clip is not 'animating' anymore"?
Im loading a .swf application (using IE or Firefox) from an Apache server. The application then communicates with a local java server via XMLsocket.
the aplication runs perfectly on local (even with apache)
but
from a remote server (applying policyfile) sometimes stops/pauses when receiving xmlsocket dataevent which is usually a small xml message. It screws up a bit the whole movie.
Then I test my movie from inside flash 9 (ctrl+enter) the MC I just edited keeps in focus: When I test a game and press UP DOWN etc. The MC inside my fla is moving too, while the compiled swf is playing!
For a project I am working on, I need the focus to be on a test field when the site loads. I can get the focus to be on the text field in the swf file, but how do I set focus to the swf file in the first place in the browser.
I do not know how to insert an animation stops to give the presenter time and forward or backward in a linear and PowerPoint by pressing any key. Similar to typical PPT slideshows and will insert a small clip light and animation films. "My idea is that every time they click on any key (no button) on the film, forward motion up to a certain frame and so on until the end of the presentation "
I'm a total begginer in flash and action script, I do have some knowledge in other programming languages.By trying to help a friend I added a contact form in his company website, that was made by someone else.his site is full flash with a index frame that loads several pages. After I built the new contact.swf and tested locally and also hosted by accessing it straight from the browser and embeded I tried to replace it with the old contact.swf that had no contact form.During the tests, everything was fine but when included in the site the form is not functioning. The form has a few rules that prevent empty fields with a green text warning. when I access it embeded separatelly in a web page it works, when I access it loaded by index.swf it does nothinh even if I press the submit button. So I assume the problem is in the index.swf action script.the button that loads the contact page has this code:
I've created several buttons and each contains a movie clip. I then placed each button on the main scene. Everything works well except the movie restarts every time the button over event is fired. I added a mouse over listener to each button so I can reposition the button. However, the movie restarts even if I don't reposition the button. (i.e. Button 1 is active and the mouse leaves the player and returns to Button 1.) How do I keep the movie that is embedded in the button from restarting?
I have background elements that slide left and right on the stage depending on where the mouse is on stage. If I take focus off the browser, like if I decide to check my email or open another tab in Firefox, when returning to my flash movie, all the elements have moved off the stage, and when focus is put on the stage, will slide back to the correct position.
I'm using an event listener on the stage to detect mouse movement...
