ActionScript 1/2 :: Movie Clip Onrelease Function Execution Error

Apr 6, 2011

error in my movie clip. The code is working just fine. The effects are just what I needed. I have a set of 24 buttons, executing 24 URLs when clicked. buttons are responding on rollover, onRollout and onRelease states.But the problem is when I click the butoons randomly and very fast, multiple buttons remins in onRelease state (as if more than one button has been selected). I do not undetastand wheather this a problem with my coding or problem with my settinf in flash or a bug in flash itself (i'm too small to detect a bug in flash though!!). My setting are: actionscript 1. fps 30.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Asign OnRelease() To A Duplicated Movie Clip?

Dec 13, 2009

PHP Code:

pressed = false;bookArray =["0","1","2","3","4"];for (j=0;j < bookArray.length; j++){_root.shelf.attachMovie("book1","book"+j,_root.shelf.getNextHighestDepth()) _root.shelf["book" +j]._X = (j * 30); _root.shelf["book" +j]._Y = -6;_root.shelf["book" +j].id = j;_root.shelf["book" +j].onRelease = function ()  if (!pressed){ moveBooks(id,40); trace ("clicked on: " + id);}}

Now, the duplication works great, all books get placed well, BUT I'm having trouble with setting the variable id inside of the newly attached movieclip _root.shelf["book" +j] so I can later on use it on my onRelease function.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Compiler Bug - Var Declaration Function Definition Postcedes External Called Function Execution

Jun 29, 2010

Use Flash CS5 (and AIR, though this does not seem like it would be AIR related) in Win XP 64 I have a MovieClip symbol in my library with the identifier 'Puzzle10Piece10' with the following actionscript attached to frame 1 of the only layer with the following actionscript:

[Code]...

This runs contrary to my understanding of the pre-compiler and code execution order. In my way of thinking, any reference creation and related memory allocation is made when the object is instantiated, and indeed that allocation, unlike C depends not on code order (declaration before use), though this is an order that would satisfy even the C pre-compiler. If I understand the Flash compiler at all, it's not even a question of 'code order'... the symbol is pre-compiled such that for it to exist... for it to be instantiated, the variable would exist before the function would even be 'available' to be called internally or externally. Is my thinking way off, or is this a bug?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Affect Both A Movie Clip And Its Child Movie Clip In The Same Function?

Dec 19, 2009

I really have two questions: How do I affect both a movie clip and its child movie clip in the same function? and how do I pull info from one component into a function for another? My basic setup is a movie clip of font choices, one on each frame: "bodyText_mc." Each of these frames has a child clip "bodyText_mc.bodyText" with alignment choices for the font. For instance, the user picks "Script" in the first ComboBox and then picks "Align Right" in the second. (All of this text is static because I need more design control that I can get with dynamic text.)

First of all, I have a combobox "cbBodyFont" that I use to go from frame to frame on movieclip "bodyText_mc." This works nicely:

i've tried placing the code in the actions pnel of the mc; on the mc at the main time line and in various other unspeakable places... but i always get the same error warning me that this code can only be used in movieclip instances and that my stupidity levels are reaching dangerous levels. ActionScript 3.0 :: Canceling The Execution Of A Function

Aug 25, 2009

I am having a problem cancelling the execution of a function. When I click on the first of my navigation buttons, I have a fade in tween and an image loader load an external image. If I click on the second navigation button befiore the function for the 1st button finishes, the 1st tween and image loader continue to finish while the tween and image loader function for the 2nd navigation button starts. Essentially, there is an overlap. Is there a way to tell the 2nd navigation button to stop all other functions before it starts its own function? I suspect it has something to do with stopImmediatePropagation, but I am unsure of how to put this into the function.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Execution Timeout Error / Not And Infinite Loop

Jan 21, 2010

I have been getting the following error occasionally when running my flash file.Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.at Sr_fla::CenterTemperature_10/frame2()After the error occurs I can dismiss it and the error will not reoccur unless the flash file is closed and reopened - even though I am running the same code over and over.I have traced out all of my loops and feel confident there is not and infinite loop.I read a note on the forums that mentioned this error can occur when a large calculation takes place.I am doing some semi-complex calculations. Maybe that is the cause. Below I have posted some snippets of code from my work. Essentially I have a script which tests a variable (CenterTemperature) to make sure it is within certain bounds.Then a looping movieclip reads the variable and scales another movieclip accordingly.[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Allowing The Movie To Run During Complex Code Execution

Jul 17, 2009

I have this complex XML processing code that builds up thousands of objects on stage. This might take some time. Perhaps not that big time to bring up that message about slow code execution, however signifficant enough to cause interface uncomfortabilities. I understand very well that I can restructure my code in order to save all contextual variables, all counters in an object that is passed down to onEnterFrame events that process it a little bit and then pass it further, until the job is done. However, before I go into dissecting my code, I wanted to make sure if there really is not a way how tom tell flash player do it's frame rendering routine while a complex code is executed in background (without splitting it up).

ActionScript 2.0 :: For Loop OnRelease Function?

Jul 14, 2010

I am designing and coding a navigation menu at the moment, and so far I have got the button instances to duplicate for each of the menu items, and set widths, positioning values and RollOver/RollOut functions. However, I would ideally like to include the onRelease button functions in the for loop too - as they are all the same apart from the variable "i". Here is the code snippet:

ActionScript Code:
for (i=1;i<(_root.noofmenuitems+1);i++){
duplicateMovieClip("mc", "mc"+i, i);

[code]...

Now my problem is that by the time the onRelease function is called, the for loop has been completed and the value of i returned is the last i value from the loop (_root.noofmenuitems+1). The this["mc"+i] part obviously works, because the trace function is called when I click any of the menu items.The problem is that I have 6 menu items, and when I click any of them, the trace function returns "test 7" - not the corresponding i values for each button.
