how to detect if an animation in a movie clip stops?I make myself clear:I have a movie clip with different animations which I call from the stage with mc.gotoAndPlay("frame label"). Being these animation one after another in the timeline I call a stop() function to avoid the animation after to begin without being called.
Now, on the stage I want to play one of these animations and when this stops I want to make something happen.Is there an event that tells me "this movie clip is not 'animating' anymore"?
I created a movie clip which loops some text, i would like to populate the stage with instances of it but also with some in a different colour. When I copy frames from my clip and paste them into a new symbol(movie clip) the colour of the other instances changes as well.
I have a MC called Robot. It is animated with keyframes so that my robot appears to walk. There is an Action on frame 8 that says, "gotoAndPlay(1)".When the user pushes the arrow keys, I want to MC to move in the direction of the press arrow. I also want the MC to start playing at keyframe 9 so it plays the walking animation.
This all works but with one small problem. If the arrow key is held down, the "gotoAndPlay(9)" stops the animation from playing, instead showing only the graphic that is on the 9nth keyframe.
Code: // initialize arrow variables var leftArrow:Boolean = false; var rightArrow:Boolean = false;[code]....
Is there a way to call a function once and play the MC frames until the arrow key is not pressed? I think the problem I am having is that if the key is held down, the EventListener keeps running and starting the MC in the same frame instead of allowing the MC to play as I want it to.
I want to create another button on the main menu of my flash site. I want to take one of the existing buttons (which are set as movie clips) and modify it to show a different menu name and page link. BUT when I go into my library and "duplicate" my movie clip, change the instance name, drag it to the stage and attempt to modify it, the original changes as well. I need to keep the original the same and create a new one with the same code, frames, etc but with different static text. I keep going in circles
I load a movie into a movie clip object and display it. Now how can I tell when the movie executing in the movie clip object has ended? Is there some event handler or listener that I can use?[code]
you'll notice on their main page, when you roll over section "living" all movie clips below which are "living" projects are highlighted, while others are faded out.I have a vague notion that this is done by creating a series of arrays, one for living, one for learning, one for working, etc etc etc... and then changing whole sale all MC's contained in those arrays upon roll over.First of all, am i correct in this assumption? If so, i really need some pointers to get started. Say i want to define these arrays, and on the press of a button, one directs its movie clips to change alpha to 50, and the other to 100. All of these movie clips by the way are visible on the stage.
Hi, I'm trying to change the text within a movie clip and I can't work it out. My plan is to load the navigation from variables that will be passed from a php file.
This link is to a zip file containing the fla file, [URL]
I am making a banner that has multiple movie clips sharing the same area, creating different rainbow effects when different areas (invisible buttons) are moused over.
First of all I couldn't figure out if there was a way to have one invisible button over the whole area that changed to a different colored effect with each mouse over (first mouse over the black and whites would change to reds, second would change it to blues, third would change it to browns, etc.). Since I couldn't figure this out I settled on creating three buttons covering a third of the banner each, so when the mouse passes over one button it changes to reds, over another button it changes to blues, over the third it changes to browns.
The effects are movie clips where each frame has another stripe changing color so it goes in a wave effect from one to the next, and then goes back to white and black in the same manner. The first frame of each movie clip I had to turn into a nested movie clip so I could turn the alpha to 0, since I was going to have these color effect movie clips on top of one another in the main timeline on different layers, and so you could see the effect even if that color layer wasn't on top. I used the same nested movie clip with zero alpha for the first frame of each color effect clip (reds movie clip, blues movie clip, etc), so I dont' know if that's an issue.
Anyway, it seemed to work fine for a while, but after working on it for a while longer (and not getting any further since I removed most of the changes I made), now when I test the movie the mouse over does not seem to work correctly. It works fine, seemingly, for the first time I mouse over each button, but in order to have it work again I have to mouse over the button twice, and then it will pause randomly during a part of the clip and I have to move my mouse back over for the movie clip to continue.
I can't tell if this is because of the overlapping movie clips, or because my buttons are messed up, or if my actionscript is messed up, or if the timeline has to be longer, or what. Currently the timeline is 55 frames, the same as each movie clip.
I put a movieclip_instance.stop(); command in the first frame of the main timeline, is there a better way to do this? Should I put the stop command in the movie clip itself?
Here is a section of my AS in the main timeline, this is my first time programming ever, in any language, and trying to learn from the internet is more difficult than I thought it would be.
redmovie.stop(); red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, playRed); function playRed(event:MouseEvent):void { redmovie.play(); }
For example, I've created in Flash CS a movie clip CampfireMC, which contains child movie clip:
m_fire:FireMC
FireMC is an animation of flame CampfireMC controls playback of m_fire, for example, last frame of CampfireMC uses action code:
m_fire.gotoAndStop(m_fire.totalFrames)
And the question is how to replace (not delete/add, as m_fire.gotoAndStop(m_fire.totalFrames) will not work in this case) FireMC to another animation FireMC2?
I've tried the following trick, but it doesn't work
var campfire:CampfireMC = new CampfireMC(); campfire.m_fire = new FireMC2(); campfire.gotoAndPlay(0)

I press a button and have an object (a movie clip) move onto the stage - that works ok.When that movie clip gets to a certain spot, I want it to stop - that works ok.I want to be able to press the button again and have it leave the stage - that works ok.Then if I press the button again, it will come back on the stage again - that works ok.when it stops on the stage, I want a part of it to animate just once. I've been trying to do this by putting a second movie clip inside of the first, but it won't work.
im trying to do is have a button that shows an animation (created by a duplicateMovieClip function) with onRollOver and stops the animation with onRollOut. It works when i roll over and it stops when i roll out, but then it continues in a loop up to the point where i rolled out (instead of cutting off completely as i would like). Id be extremely grateful if you could tell me where im going wrong.
I want to trace all the names of a Movie clip properties. Funny thing is that I used to know how to do that. Now when i use [code]It only traces the names of nested Movie Clips not also properties like _x, _width. Anyone knows how to do that?
I've got a problem with the Properties panel for Movie Clips, Graphics and Buttons. I clicked 'Advanced Options' at some point to see what they were, and now I have no idea how to get back to basic options like Alpha, Tint, etc.
I was able to create an animation which only runs when I place my cursor over the animation box.The animation stops playing when I remove the cursor off the animation box.I was able to do this using button rollovers.How do I apply a URL link to this animation.When I place my curser over the animation box it plays,and when I click on the animation box I would like it to link to a web page.
I have a flash animation where a image is panned back and forth by moving the mouse in the direction you want to pan the image. I want to make it so that when the mouse is outside the swf, in the normal HTML area of the page, the movement of the image will stop, or better yet go to a much slower pan.
im using flash with AS3 and i use the instruction var myTween:Tween = new Tween(waves, "y", Strong.easeOut, waves.y, puntop, 3, true); for making simple animations, the think is that when i call a URLRequest the animation just stop and freeze.
I have some movieclips in my flash proyect, and I want these have the properties and behaviors of buttons, for example to make links with other frames.
I have several MCs on the stage. Each have a basic animation. They have a button embedded so I can click on them. When I click on the first MC it starts animating. When I click on another MC I need the first animation to stop. Is there a stop command I can put in there that stops the other animation before starting its animation?
My player movie clip has a smaller movieclip within it. Because the smaller movieclip is not within the parent clip it changes the x,y,width,and height value of the player movieclip and throwing everything off! To adjust I have to add (-2ndmovieclip.height) to everything i want to do. This is sloppy and I don't like it. Is there a better way to have a child within a movieclip without it affecting the parents properties? i want the parent to keep its original x,y,width,and height properties but the child keeps adding to them!
I'm working on a scrolling game for my multimedia class, and I want to be able to have the player choose the colour of their character. Rather than having three separate classes (which would result in having three copies of all the code), i wanted to know if I could set a hue value instead. This is what I have so far (for one of the three buttons) :
I've received an .fla file with a design and am trying to play with it using ActionScript. I've got a symbol of a star on stage (movie clip) that I want to animate with AS. The movie clip's registration point is set to bottom right corner.
The thing should work like this: theres a movie clip in frame 10 of the timeline with two buttons inside, by clicking one of them the movie should jump to frame 15 and take the alpha of two Mc there (they are inside a different movie clip) to 0. This is what ie been trying (code on the button, btw):
on (release) { McScene2.lettuce._alpha = 0; McScene2.pumpkin._alpha = 0;
