Actionscript 3 :: Pass Object Type Variable To Another Class But Keep Structure?

I realize this is kind of an odd issue, but I am wondering if there's any way to get Flash to allow me to access a class's static functions using a class variable that points to the class. Example:I create a class called FooClass that has a static function named fooI then create a variable of type Class that points to it

However, when I try to call foo() using the variable, it errors saying the function

ve faced a problem. I have a super class called "Plane" which has subclasses called "Fighter" and "Bomber". each of these subclasses have a bullet type "Cannon" and "Bomb"Now I want the to send a reference of the bullet type to the super class, because bullet creation is handled there and I want to let the super class know which bullet type to create.Ofcourse I could pass a string, I just ant to know if there is a better way, like storing a class type in a variable?

Where variable could be a String(), Number(), Array(), Object()...Currently the above check returns true for all of these types, which makes sense. I only want it to return true for objects made with new Object(), however.
I'm trying to find information in how or if it it possible to declare a Variable Type that can accomodate 1 of 2 different Types In this particular case I'd like to set a Variable able to accept either Integrals or Strings I know i Can use a wildcard as below and it works, but it also allows for any other type to be added.

Can you really not pass a variable into an Object property?
Coming from a Delphi background, I am used to be able to have class references/pointers of a specific superclass, example:

What this means is that I don't have to cast my variables to a specific class; they are of the correct Class beforehand. This also means that compile-time checking can be performed to make sure proper members are being accessed and I don't have to check that niceVar is in fact of class TClassOne if niceVar was passed to a method.

So just like a variable storing an object can be for a specific type and only objects of that class or subclasses of it are accepted, so to does "class of AClass" allow for variables of a specific class to be limited to references to a certain class or those inherited from it. I hope that makes sense somehow; I don't know of specific nomenclature for the whole "class of SuperClass" thing. So I'd like to do the same in AS3 as having variables/properties/parameters of type Class does not cut the mustard; its kind of like having all object variables/properties/parameters simply being Object instead of their proper, specific type.
What I'd like to be able to do

How do you declare a variable type that is the same name as the current class in a different package? Is it possible?I'm importing the class and using getDefinitionByName for the instantiation. However, without declaring a variable of that time, the class is not being imported.

I cannot add click event for movieclips in flash, because there is already a click event in the class file.
I need to pass a variable value contained within a MovieClip to my class file. The MovieClip is my preloader, to which my code will show that upon the initial launch of the SWF. Until the variable is sent, my code assumes the preloader is still running and therefore will not progress. View 1 RepliesI am trying to find an object in the display list. All that is known, is the name of the class. I recursively iterate through every child in the display list to find my object's instance, and unfortunately everything was instantiated at runtime and was given a generic instance name. This videoplayer has around 300 children(ugh), and through trial and error I found my instance I need to get a hold of, instance60. Now it would be fine by using just the instance name, but the thought of it being called a different instance name would send this program into insanity.

When i instantiate an object of this class from another (Main) class i want to have the dimensions (width, height) of the loaded image being known to this (Main) class. It seems that is difficult for me as the dimensions are known after the image compete loaded. But i don't know how to pass this information from completeHandler event handler to the Main class.

in asp.net, i usually use mc_rect.sequenct,mc_rect.setSequence(data), mc_rect.addSequence() to achieve my goals......btw, can function in mc_rect return out result to main stage?
I am really pulling my hair out with this one. Flash game, container swf loads a img using the loader class. The image is the map which will be used on the levels. The problem im having is that I originaly had each level load the map image, convert to a bitmap, and us it to create x and y's for colision detection.
the problem was that the game was loading and sometimes the map image hadent loaded. It also ment that each level was loading the same image and if the above happened on the 3rd, 4th level it was very annoying. So I need a way to load the image in the parent, but have it available to the child, however it must be available as at bitmap to work.

What happens when an object which has a function currently being executed has all its references removed?I want to have a dialog box type object held in an array by the main class for my program, and when the dialog needs to be closed, I want it to be removed from the array during that close-screen function. My question is, assuming the dialog box object is in all other ways eligible for garbage collection, what happens to the code it's supposed to be executing?
Edit for clarification:The array is a layer of visual elements in my program, of which the dialog box is one. The idea is that the "OK" button (or whatever) that closes the box will also remove it from the array of objects being displayed at the same time.
Iīm making a game and now I wonder if itīs good practice to have a class named Main for my game. I was thinking about to have a Preloader, Console and Game classes. Now I donīt know anymore. Maybe itīs better to have a Main class that loads including a preloader, which loads Console wich loads Game.
Thatīs the better way to making a game application? Iīm talking about best practices.
