View 3 RepliesI'm trying to determine with the help of a mouse event if I'm over a specific component. So right now I have two components, let's say buttonA and buttonB. ButtonA has a listener on it already listening for the mouse out event. ButtonB is flush against the edge of ButtonA. I need to find out the code for it. Here is more details:
[Code]...
The title pretty much sums up what I am trying to do: I haven't started digging into using script in Flash yet, still being very much a beginner.
I created a simple file using movie clips nested in buttons so that when I mouseover a letter, it bobs up and down, but I can't work out how to make it return to its original "up" state *smoothly* when the mouse is moved away. If it must involve script please be aware I am a total noob!
I am using Flash CS4 with ActionScript 3 and I am fairly new at it. I am struggling with two things.
1. How can I start a movie clip while scrolling over a button? I know how to start a movie clip when a button is clicked.
2. How can I use multiple movie clips for seperate buttons?

I'm writing a flash game with using some pop-out message boxes, constructed by myself. Users can close it by clicking the button in the box. Meanwhile, the buttons outside the box should all be disabled!
I don't want to just add a condition check inside all buttons manually if there are alternatives... So I have considered using "Button.prototype.onRelease" event, but I don't know whether it can terminate the original script in each button.
I have a flash document that publishes to an swf I embedd into an html page. The flass is made up of three movie clips that I have managed to program to run in succession and then loop. Each movie clip (frame 1, frame 2 and frame 3) drill down into their own animation. I set the movie up this way so that each of the animations could be linked to a different web page. Now I want to add navigation within the flash itself by creating three dots that when clicked will send the movie to frame 1, 2 or 3. I can't seem to find an example of this and am just not well versed enough in script to figure this out.
View 2 RepliesI need to know how to make several buton inside a MovieClip to link URL's, or something else (besides onRelease)? The Movie Clip has already onRollOver and onRollOut states in it. This is the .fla file [URL].
View 1 RepliesI'm doing a flash menu for a site and am stuck with a bit of action script. Below is a link to the swf file. http:[url].........What I am after is for the white bar to follow the mouse when you are over the flash file y axis only (this works on the file), then when you take your mouse away from the file it returns to a specific position.The action I have so far is attached bellow.
onClipEvent (load) {
_y = 20;
speed = 3;[code]...
I'm trying to make it so that and object rotates to the mouse, but only within a specific range. In the class file for Object1, I want it to be able to rotate a maximum of 45 degrees in either direction from the rotation of Object2. So far this is all I could come up with:
[Code]....
The possible rotations of Object2 are 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, -135, -90, and -45. The code seems to work fine if the rotations are between -90 and 90 (the right half), but because the left half goes from -179 to 180 to 179, it obviously fails. How would I accomplish the effect I want?
I'm working on a presentation to be presented on a Trade Show. It have an inicial movie, running in loop, but with a Menu bar, so people could stop the movie and go to a product catalogue. I want that when people stop looking the catalogue and go away, the presentation go (after a few minutes) to the initial movie loop again.
View 4 RepliesWhat I need is a code that sends the user to a speacific page, everytime that button is clicked. The way I have been trying to do this (which may be wrong) is to set up each page on a different keyframe in the timeline (with stop actions on each one) - surely its now just a matter of adding an action to link each button to their page?
View 2 RepliesI want the user to click two specific buttons (order doesn't matter), then gotoAndPlay a new frame. In other words, the user must click two buttons before going to the next frame. I've been trying different methods, but I am honestly not brilliant with conditional statements or booleans.
Button1 then Button2 = next Frame
This is what I've got so far...
about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickAbout);
home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickMain);
if (function clickMain(event) && function clickAbout(event)) {
trace ("holy cow!");
}
Is there a way to block mouse events except for a specific MovieClip or Sprite? i.e. I know that to prevent ALL mouse clicks, I can write something like:[code]
View 1 Repliesi'm trying to zoom in on a picture at the specific spot where the mouse is clicked. ie if the mouse is clicked in the lower left corner, the pic gets bigger from there, not the center of the pic.the only way i can think of to do this is to reset the registration point to the clicked position. is this possible?
View 12 RepliesI need to make a bullet launch at different degrees (anywhere from 1-360) from a specific point towards the mouse.
View 3 RepliesI have a movie clip on the main timeline. This movieclip has buttons that I want to play different frames in scene 1.
At the moment, this is the code I'm using in scene 1.
[Code]...
I'm getting the error below but have no idea what I should be doing.
[Code]...
The buttons are used to jump to a specific (root-)frame (based on a variable); they're all nested inside a moviclip, each on its own layer, and for every frame there's one button more showing (imagine a staircase). Now, is there a way for a script that works for all buttons without adding the specific frame number every time? I started working with
ActionScript Code: on (release) {_root.gotoAndStop(_root.VAR+3);} where VAR also defines, how many buttons are shown (eg. frame number of the button-MC). +3 is just for the frame number on root. That way, of course, all buttons eventually lead to the same frame, or more precise: only the last button shown will lead to the correct frame.
I'm trying to run a function when after a specific amount of time of the mouse being idle a movieclip plays, then when the mouse becomes active again a different movieclip plays. I have gotten my code work for the most part, but the last function runs over and over as the mouse is moving. I want it to run once, so the movieclip plays once.
here is my code:
standstill = 0;
lastmove = 0;
timeout = 3000;

I am trying to make a light comparison chart where the lights can be turned on inividually by the user and one can be compared to another depending on which of the 6 lights you want to view.So far i have managed to make this work with 5 lights over 33 layers and diffferent buttons and different handlers for each of the buttons on each layer but as soon as the 4 and 5 light come into play everything slows down struggles and sometimes gives up.Is there a simple way of doing this which i am unaware of.I am currently using the gotoandstop comand to go to a specific frame based on the button press.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to make a game of sorts. I have a button that you need to click that is in the center of the screen. Upon clicking it, it goes to the next scene.What I need here is for the mouse cursor to start in the upper right-hand corner of the stage of the second scene whenever said button is clicked. Not just a movieclip of a cursor, but the actual mouse itself, since it needs to be able to click a button on the other side.Below I've included an example of what needs to be done (not my actual game, but it shows the problem that I'm having. IT IS AN MX2004 FLA FILE.
View 3 RepliesBelow is the overriden on complete function for a preloader in Flex.
private function initComplete(e:Event):void
{
//dispatchEvent(new Event(Event.COMPLETE));
cp.status.text="Configuring... Please Wait";
}
What I want to do is when the app has finsihed loading I want to change the preloaders text to "configuring".Then I want to go and do a bunch of setup stuff in my code.Once I've done all the setup I wanted how can I get the Preloader to dispatch its Event.complete from else where in my code?I tried Application.application.preloader but it comes up null.So I guess my question really is how to access a preloader from anywhere in my application. Would a better approach be to have all setup classes as members of my preloader class?
I am trying to have two guestures on a SpriteVisualElement which I thought should be pretty simple implemented: Mouse_Move for sweep Gestures and mouse click to enable.. So I have 2 Eventlisteners on my stage:
[Code]...
The main problem is that every type of sweeping on the screen also fires the taphandler().. how to identify the correct event? I tried to to my taphandler only if(!event.buttondown) but no success.
I am looking to provide some UI functionality using the mouse- I have two distinct UI events to be achieved via mouse
a) change value
b) delete object
I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?
Attachment 54101my problem is in bitmap explained:1. after loading external text into dynamic text field,2. how to call/make visible "button over text" on the Scene by pointing a mouse over specific word in loaded external text?3. javascript, html, actionscript (asfunction, variable)
View 8 RepliesI have multiple movie clips on my piece. Each clip is of an an image, and when the mouse curser goes over the image, the movie clip begins (making it bigger).If you run your mouse curser all over the screen, they all activate at once.I want the clip to only activate after the mouse is on the specific clip for more than a few seconds. I know I need a timer. How do I do this? What is the code and where does it go in mine (below)?
Frame 1:
stop();
image10.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, image10overFunc);
function image10overFunc(e:MouseEvent)

When you click on "works" on my site it reveals a menu with 2 other buttons, but when you try to mouse over the 2 buttons the whole thing dissapears. What I've done is set the "works" button to jump ahead in the animation to reveal the menu which is actually one large button with the 2 other buttons on top. The large button is set to - on rollout goto and play frame 1.
View 4 RepliesI have a ready simple calculater design. and i learned the Action Script languge last month i just tried to add a Mouse Lestiner for a buttons(actually it's not button but it customized to act like a button = the No.ZERO button = num0_btn as shown in the code below. but it doesn't work.

All the buttons are iniside a movie clip so they shouldn't blink when I put the mouse in between them since they are all in one movie clip call controls_btn?
controls_btn.buttonMode = true;/help_btn.buttonMode = true;cover.visible = false;gotoAndStop(5);
controls_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,

I need to control a swf with mouse buttons.
Left mouse --> nextframe
right mouse --> previusframe
I have some buttons in flash that must work.
I am working on a menu that uses a number of these buttons: [URL]
The button works quite well, except that I would like the sub-menu to close up once the mouse clicks elsewhere on the screen. I have tried to find the Action Script for this but have been unsuccessful. What script can I use to cause the menu to close up when a user clicks outside of the button?
I've posted the fla file below.
