Actionscript 3 :: Apply Property To All Vars Or MovieClips?
Jan 20, 2011
how, to apply a property of a var to multiple vars at once. I'm making a point-n-click game where i want to apply the buttonMode property to multiple variables (of MovieClips).
I don't know if this is even possible or how simple or advanced this is, but it would be damn handy.
I have searched on Google and this site for a possible answer, with different search terms/keywords, but can't find anything close. I also tried different things with an asterisk such as *.buttonMode = true and movieClip.*.buttonMode = true but no success.
I need to make a little animation in Flash.So I would like to make few Swf's succeed. I found, as a start, this little piece of code in the Flashkit board. (URL...)[code]This code is ok to call many Swf's, but not to place them at a special timing. I would like to have a Timing control on them, like:Mc01.swf plays X sec, then stop. Then Mc02.swf plays X sec, then stop. Then Mc03.swf plays X sec, etc.
Currently i have 10 movieClips and named it as (dog0, dog1, dog2 ... dog9) I would like to appy a mask for these movieClips (dogs) ~~ by using ActionScript[code]...
I have the MovieClip named dessin, which loads another MovieClip named dessin (dessin.dessin). Now, there is a MovieClip named displayPlane, in the new MovieClip (dessin.dessin), in the MovieClip named displayPlane, there is a variable, which goes as follows:
Actionscript Code: var _loc3 = displayPlane.attachMovie("displayNode", "displayNode_" + projectCount, projectCount);
inside that clip, there are multiple MovieClips in vars, I am trying to specifically target one var, the following:
Actionscript Code: var _loc8 = this.attachMovie("closeBtn", "closeBtn", 5);
I have tried this code to target that specific MovieClip with no success.
I'm having a bit of a problem with a basic game I'm making where I want to have a number of animals which bounce around the stage.. I can't seem to get the code to apply to more than one of my movieclips using a loop.. if I try to apply vx and vy to the individual movieclips then nothing happens.. for now I have the ten movieclips on the stage but only one whichbounces around.. I have managed to get all of them to move but they each stay in their own area of the stage, but I'd like each to bounce around the stage and not interfere which the others movement.
public function Bounce() crosshairs = new Target(); addChild(crosshairs); init(); private function init():void stage.scaleMode =
I have two MovieClips onscreen, and I want to apply the same mask to both. I set the the masks using
mc1.mask = mymask; mc2.mask = mymask;
Only mc2 receives the mask. How can I set the same mask for two different MovieClips without having to resort to putting them both in a single MovieClip?
say i have a method "btnClick", and i have 5 buttons: btn01,btn02,etc.. how do i apply this method/function to the 5 buttons through code? here is what i am trying to do(this is just pseudocode):
I'm trying to apply a ChangeDepths() to a bunch movieclips that I've nested inside a main movieclip which I'm using as a mask. The ChangeDepths() function worked fine when the clips were not nested, but after I placed them in a new movieclip, I get this error:
I have a TextField that has been populated with html text, which includes images using the <img> tag. I don't want to display these images to the user, however when I apply a StyleSheet with the img tag having the display property set to none, it doesn't appear to work.
I have about 9 buttons on my stage and I want to write code for the rollover and rollout effects, I only want to write the code once so I am trying to pass the button info into a string via evt.target.data and it pass the info properly into my string variable but when I try to set my filter to that variable, setting my movieclip instance name to that variable, I get 2 errors:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property filters through a reference with static type String.Warning: 1072: Migration issue: String is not a dynamic class. Instances cannot have members added to them dynamically.
My code is:
import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; var thumbArray:Array=new Array(); var movieClipLoader:Loader;
I am using CS3, AS2.I have a background image that I am allowing the user to select multiple layers over the top of (layer 1: new pattern, Layer 2: design) and the movieclips have the Blend: Overlay applied to them. My problem is when they select a second option (or a second overlay is applied to the background) the overlay shows the layer belows pattern in the new layer.My question is, is there a way to have the the two movieclips ignore each other and only apply the Blend:Overlay to the background movieclip?
This should be an easy one. I have several movieclips with instance names (we'll call them apple_mc, orange_mc, bananna_mc, and peach_mc. if i wanted to set all of their alphas to 0 i know i could do this:
but if i have say 10 or more movieclips i want to set the alpha for (or any other property) this gets a bit cumbersome. i know there is a more efficient way. maybe an array or for loop for i can't seem to figure anything out.
If I have a MovieClip with its "visible" property set to "false", would it aid performance to "stop()" its timeline? Or will that have no effect, since its not being rendered, anyway?
Setting the text property of a flex DateField makes the selectedDate property of that DateField go to null.I need to set the text property so that I can use a particular format (DD-MMM-YYYY).
Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?
What's the difference between selectedChild property and selectedIndex property? I read the documentation, both seems to be setting currect active accordion. selectedChild can be only used in actionscript, but other than this, what's the difference?
Can we put [Bindable] on functions/methods? I know that bindable is used to change the value of the source property to destination property. But not sure if we can use that for methods. why we cannot put/ if we can then what will be the outcome?
I have a class Inhabitant with a property skin which is of type DisplayObject.
Within Inhabitant I need to access the x and y properties of skin using this method:
this["someProperty"]; Rather than: this.someProperty;
This is fine with properties defined within Inhabitant but I'm not sure how I could do this for a property of skin. This obviously doesn't work but it might give you an idea of what I'm trying to do:
this["skin.x"];
The reason behind requiring this notation is that I have a function which I can parse a String though that will represent a property:
public function addTokenable(property:String):void { if(!isTokenable(property)) _tokenables[property] = true; }
And then a related getter that will return a representation of this instance of Inhabitant as a String:
public function get token():String { _token = "class:" + getQualifiedClassName(this).split("::").join(".");
I'm wondering if there is a way I can bind a flex property to flash property?, the flash property is inside a swc file created in flash with the Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional, I can manipulate the flash component as a regular flex component, but I want to bind their properties, is there a way?
I m trying to make sense of how to load a swf into a parent MovieClip and allow them to communicate.I ve attached two zip files one which works fine and the other doesnt. Unfortunately (for me), the one which doesnt work is closer to my current project.I need to load movieclips into the parent movieclip. The parent movieclip has controls which rely on values parsed from the child movieclip.In the parent movieclips I wait until the loading is complete and so the values should be passed. However, the values arent passed unless I use a button (or timer), to pass the values (see the working exampes).The code which doesnt work is:
Parent movieclip:
ActionScript Code: stop(); var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();[code].............
I have two SWF-Movies. One is exported into eht other as Child.Can I instance the Objects of the two libraries in all places, where ActionScript is possible? (In Keyframes of the MovieClips and in external class definitions.)
I'm building a little application in AS3 but I need to get variables from PHP. I searched on the internet on how I should do that. It makes the connection, but it doesn't get the variables. It just prints whole my php script.
I think this should not be a big deal, but I do not get it to work. I got a "MainFlash" witch loades an XML with about 60 variables (Settings), in base of a paramater then this "MainFlash" loades another "FlashMovie" and this one needs, all, the same Variables too.
How do I properly pass all the Vars in the new/other "FlashMovie"?
U need to know I use LoadMovieNum to Level 0 I do replace the "MainFlash", cause the new loaded "FlashMovie" can have a completly different height and width ( ...I don't think it's possible to change the Document-Setting in a compiled swf, or is it? If this is possible I would not need to load a separate swf to Level 0. the main SWF usually ist about 320x180, the following can be 2x, 3x bigger...
Invariably the else statement is deployed and a new record is inserted into the database even when the username and passwords (md5 encrypted) are identical. I've been on PHP forums and nobody has a solution, so I'm wondering if this is a Flash issue. Perhaps even though the username and password in MySQL 'appear' identical to what's submitted by Flash and md5 encrypted they're really not for some reason. I tried trim() and stripslashes() to no avail.
