ActionScript 3.0 :: Using String To Store Evt.target.data And Apply Property Filters?
Jul 21, 2009
I have about 9 buttons on my stage and I want to write code for the rollover and rollout effects, I only want to write the code once so I am trying to pass the button info into a string via evt.target.data and it pass the info properly into my string variable but when I try to set my filter to that variable, setting my movieclip instance name to that variable, I get 2 errors:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property filters through a reference with static type String.Warning: 1072: Migration issue: String is not a dynamic class. Instances cannot have members added to them dynamically.
My code is:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
var thumbArray:Array=new Array();
var movieClipLoader:Loader;
how to apply filters in graphics? I'm curious cuz of this video here. It seems like the very same filters people use for text tool. How did the he use the filters in graphics?
I've developed a Flash video recorder(using AS3, Flex) which captures live web cam and streams to Wowza media server.I am trying to apply sharpness, contrast, saturation and sharpness filters on the live video being captured.I am able to apply filter effects on the video being captured on the screen. How do we apply the filters so that it reflects in the stream being published ?
How to apply multiple filters in Adobe Pixelbender in Flash (=limited version)?
For example 3 different kinds of video displacement effects (1 displacement on the left, one on the right and one the top).I know, it possible to just copy paste the code multiple times, but this wouldn't be very elegant.
I am trying to add simple drop shadows to a few dynamically loaded images and it's not working. If I create a plain box or rectangle, the drop shadow filter works fine, but not with loaded .jpg's.[code]...
We have an ordinary video player built for Adobe Flash Player that streams a video file and plays it on a browser.However some of the video files aren't clear enough that we need additional video filters like sharpness filter while the others may require contrast filter or hue and tint filter due to its color balance.
The question is, is there any feature that are provided by Flash Player's core video component to apply those kind of filters on the fly at client-side?
i also has another problem here is the senario .first i select the square (there are too many object one of is square )then click the button now my event target is button previous one is square so i need to change the square(object) using that button.
how to apply a tell target to an external swf. How am i asking it to be applied u ask? I have a main flash movie (to be the base site actually) that loads 4 preliminary swf's. One of them is the top nav bar. Basically there are small squares on the main flash movie where the movies should load. They replace the squares and load perfectly. What i want to do though is when i press a button in a movie in one square, on release, it tells another square on the main flash to load it's movie.
I did not attach the actual flash files becuase, for one they are too big, also there are way too many layers and stuff for anyone to be able to back track through my sloppy work. I did however attach the swf's and a jpeg outline of the square loaders im talking about.
How to store the data text in Access databases using flash form and to search into the database. It is possible to work without server because I don't want to put this flash file on the net. how to make databases and to connect with flash and to have possibility to search the database, but to work database in the local computer.
I've come to learn through research that applying filters to flash webcam recording seem backend-ed. In other words, when a user pre-apply filters to their video (light brightness, blur, saturation), the filter parameters (CData, I think) are saved with the video but the actual video file is untouched (RAW) or as recorded. My questions are, Can and how are filters "baked" into a video recorded from a webcam? and Can this be done in flash / flex
I'm trying to visualize the results of a quiz in ActionScript 3.0.What I would like some input on is how to best link the "filters" (top right corner in attached image) to the data source in a flexible OOP way.The result array now contains both number of correct answers and meta data about the person taking the quiz. The meta data could be both discrete (sex) or continuous (age).
How do I tell the boxes to, for example, change color when I change filter?Should each box object hold its own data or should there be some sort of controller listening to the filter object to dispatch an event and thereafter call a box.setColor method?
Ok im new to using arrays but here is my question I have a word list Array and it brings up a random word from the array. Is there a way to store each word used from the array to compair to so that the same word dose not get used twice... or even just remove the word from the array list till there is nothing in the list? Im using flash CS4 in AS3 for player 10.
how, to apply a property of a var to multiple vars at once. I'm making a point-n-click game where i want to apply the buttonMode property to multiple variables (of MovieClips).
I don't know if this is even possible or how simple or advanced this is, but it would be damn handy.
I have searched on Google and this site for a possible answer, with different search terms/keywords, but can't find anything close. I also tried different things with an asterisk such as *.buttonMode = true and movieClip.*.buttonMode = true but no success.
I basically need to store a string of characters from an input text box and have them displayed at the last frame of the quiz. I declared the variable holding the input text as _global.player in the first frame, and upon clicking the start button the code is:
on (release) { _global.player=player.text; gotoAndStop (2); }
These variables are not referenced again until the last frame of the quiz, which reads thus:
stop();playerdisplay.text=_global.player;score.text=_global.correct;'Endng Comments Generator'if (_global.correct<=3) { phrase="Try a little harder next time";}if (_global.correct>3 + _global.correct<7) { }comment.text=phrase;
Yes, I know the global.correct coments are not yet complete, but i dont think that should be causing any issue with the playerdisplay.text (the dynamic text box to display the player name). If anyone could give me a hand that would be great. Nothing appears in the dynamic text box when the final frame of the movie loads.
I have a TextField that has been populated with html text, which includes images using the <img> tag. I don't want to display these images to the user, however when I apply a StyleSheet with the img tag having the display property set to none, it doesn't appear to work.
I have two Cairngorm MVC Flex applications (a full version and lite version of the same app) that share many Classes. I have put these Classes into a Flex Library Project that compiles as an SWC. Both applications use some static String constants. Right now, I am storing these in the ModelLocator:
package model { [Bindable] public class ModelLocator
I'm developing a Flex app which is connected to a webservice - but I'm curious about what is generally best practice for handling the data locally. My webservice provides fairly small XML docs containing all the details about a certain object - is it considered better to parse that XML into objects for use in my UI, or just store the XML and access it directlyMy instincts say the former, though I'm sure doing a lot of parsing / encoding XML objects that I'm wondering if I shouldn't just add and remove elements when needed.
I'm working on a tile based game and I want to create a class file that will hold all of my level design arrays. it seems silly to make this class extend MovieClip so i was wondering what a good class would be to have it extend. I want to call the class file up when loading a level and have it send the array to my tilesetter function in my game engine.
I am working in multi user chat application, in which users chat history need to save. When the user requests his chat history, respective chat history needs to retrieve.Previously, I plan to save them in a shared object. Since shared object has size limitation and also it will be saved in some encrypted form I plan to save them in a database.Now I came to know that data can be saved in a database using web service or xml socket etc...

here's the thing, i need to store different values in a 2d array (or something conceptually similar). The idea is to create a 2d map with tiles and the array would save the ID of every tile in the map. I'm trying to create something mildly efficient, specially because i need to save some memory usage for later use (it has to do with AI) and it must run on a low end PC, but simply creating an array seems to be a waste of space since i only have about 50 different IDs at any given map.i thought about creating a 2d array of 8bit chars would be sufficient, but that's out of the question with actionscript 3, it doesn't have 8bit char data type.
What way of reading and storing data is fastest for AS3. For debugging right now it is just reading the raw XML, but I suspect it would be faster if I made them into nested arrays. Would parsing the XML into nested arrays to be read later be the most efficient method?, or is there a better way to read lots of data?
