View 3 RepliesI have a movieclip which has 3 frames inside it. These each have a movie clip on them which is different. There are three frames on the above layer. The first two have code on them which check the date and time and then skips to the next frame if a specified date is reached. The final frame is just a stop as its the final option. So Its works great in as2 but I am trying to rebuild in AS3. I think I am nearly there but since you cant have two of the same function its throwing a wobbler - also when I rename the 2nd function (on the 2nd frame) it wont compile correctly throwing all sorts of errors.

I have an AS3 program that calls a function multiple times. The function must return multiple variables, so I created a class for the function to declare an object containing all of these variables. For example, here's my class:

Let's say the calling program calls the function, which returns the variables into data_set1 (where data_set1 depends on input variables arg1, arg2, arg3) using:
var data_set1:PER = function_name(arg1, arg2, arg3);
The calling program does some stuff, then calls the function again, but returns the variables into a new variable name, data_set2:
var data_set2:PER = function_name(arg4, arg5, arg6);
My intention is that data_set1 and data_set2 are different (e.g. not linked together).
My question is, given that arrays are passed by reference, will data_set1 be modified to agree with data_set2 upon the 2nd function call? Why or why not?

I have a function that calls another function once every 30 seconds. Each time it calls the function it updates the variables each time. My problem is that it only wants to call the function one time. All the variables are correct but it wont call it again.

I have a piece of code, and in that function i call to another function that has 3 parameters.now i've decided that i want that last function to be called after a couple of secs, instead of immedietly. I can't simply use a timer, and addEventlistener, because then i cant give parameters.

I have a sound clip running in flash and I want to jump to the next frame after a certain amount of time. Unfortunately it is not always the same time span. How can I measure the elapsed time and call a function accordingly? For example: after 17 second go to frame x, then after 25 seconds go to frame y, etc. until the end of the sound clip (2 min 50 sec.) Each frame holds an individual animation that is related to the current sound.

I have looked around a lot for the answer to this, here and out on the web, I just can't believe it can't be done.I have certificates that the user fills in their name once they successfully pass the on-line course, this works and prints fine. The decided they wanted the current date and time to show up on the certificate for their records. The date and time displays correctly, but when you go to print the certificate you get the default numerals, not the date and time, once the print dialogue box goes away after printing, you can see it change back to correct day and time.

I can get the current date in actionscript using the Date() function, my question is, does it give the same timezone for everyone? When I use it, it gives me the current hour and everything for the Eastern Time Zone (Newyork), but I live in Georgia, so I am eastern timezone, will someone who lives somewhere else, like california, run the code (below) and tell me if the time flash displays is the current time they have on their computer, or if the hours are off... with that said, if it is the same, and flash doesn't give everyone on earth the same time, is there any code I can use to retrieve the current time in 1 time zone no matter where on earth I am when I use the code? I'm sorry to ask such a stupid question but the documentation is not clear to me. And I really don't want to screw it up. I am creating a flash piece that needs to change its content based on the date eastern time. so that the content on monday 00:00:00 will be different than the content sunday 11:59:59. I have everything set up for local time ie:

But do to legal issues involved I need to set this up so that even if the user is in Alaska the content will change based on Eastern Standard Time.I'm sure I can use timeZoneOffset, but I'm just not sure how to implement it.
