Actionscript 3 :: Initialize The Variable (num) For Only One Time When The Flash Loaded?
Feb 13, 2011
I have a problem with listed code that every time I click on btn1 the variable (num) will be initialize to 1. so what is the best practice in my case to initialize the variable (num) for only one time when the flash loaded.
stop();
var num:Number =1;
function b1(event:MouseEvent):void[code].........
I have a custom video player I've built and have been adding a seek function to it lately. I ran into an issue where seeking backward in the timeline stalled my timecode. I could seek forward and my timecode updated as expected, but seeking backward, my timecode would stall at the current time before the seek was requested. I run a function on netStream.time() in order to set my timecode.
I want to handle some variables BEFORE Frame 1 in the action script, because I need to initialize a variable and set it to 0 only once. Later on in the animation, I will be coming back to Frame 1 and I don't want it set to 0 again, only the first time.
[Code]...
So how do you apply some ActionScript code to when the movie first loads?
this is working fine, But I have to initialize the "point" object with a string variable which holds the initialization properties like:
[Code]...
I know this is not working. Is there any method to initialize the object with a string variable which holds the initialization properties (without parsing the text) ?
But it doesn't work. I can't seem to change the value of "poop" with code. It only accepts a value that I place, ex. var poop = 2, but that doesn't let me change it.
I have made an image upload manager. I made it initially in Flash Develop as an AS class. I need to convert it to a component in Flash Builder 4.5 It works absolutely fine as a .swf, but I can't figure out how to make the URL request work in Flash Builder. This is what I have between the tags:[code]I didn't put the mxml controls but there is a browse button (id="selects_btn") and a label (id="label_txt") under the button that displays various status messages.I tried adding the init function to the component's creationComplete event. I receive and error saying access of a null object.
I am working on optimizing a page that has Flash on it. I am using optimization practices like moving Javascript to the bottom to not block. Removing inline scripts. And minimizing HTTP requests with minified css and js.The majority of the pages content is in the flash, so loading it as soon as possible is the goal. Currently there is a 2 ~ 3 second delay before the flash is even rendered (using firebug profiling)
I am wondering at what point in the page load does the browser start initializing flash on the page? Is it once the DOM element containing the flash has been rendered? Is it once the complete onload event has been fired? I imagine it probably differs with each browsers as well.
I implemented a kind of Bio metric login in Flash. Now, my flash is detecting person and authentication him. But all I need if after bio metric authentication some information to be passed from Flash to my ASP.NET as to initialize session. Is it possible to pass authentication code from Flash file to ASP.NET page?
I have an applicon that needs to render about 100 flash graphs (as well as other DOM stuff) in a series of rows that vertically extend many times beyond the current visible window - in other words, the users have to scroll down see see all the different graphs.This application is also dynamic and when a user changes a value in the DOM (anywhere on the page) it will need to propagate that change to all the Flash graphs at the same time.So I setup all the externalInterface callbacks and was careful to not let any JS start going until the ever-so-important "flashIsReady" call and...it worked great until I tried to update() the existing swf's with new data.
Here was the behavior:- All the swfs load (initially) in both IE/Fox = good.- Updating swfs with new content works in Fox --ONLY IF-- I scrolled down to the bottom of the page, then back to the top -- BEFORE -- I triggered an update().So then I started tracing out each time a swf called the JS to say "flash is ready" and I realized, Firfox only renders swfs as they become visible. And To be honest - that's fine and actually, I am pretty sure that IE does this too. But the problem is that not only does Firefox not initialize the swf, Firefox doesn't even acknowledge the swf exists (expect for after onload) if it has not yet been visible.
hi I have created an actionscript function which stops an animation on a specific frame which works fine. I have then loaded in a php file with a variable which will contain the number for the frame i want the animation to stop on. This has loaded in fine and i have loaded it in a function. what i cant seem to do is to get the variable into the function which tells the animation to stop playing.[code]
I'm developing a little site for a friend. Though the filesize is v. small and it seems to load quickly, there is a delay playing. There are many objects duplicated in AS so undoubtedly this is the problem, but is there any way of initializing them so that the delay is slower? I'm using flash cs3.
How would you go about initializing a Vector. with say the values 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Logic would say you could do newVector = new Vector. ( [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] );
You could also try something like this...
var tmp = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]; newVector = new Vector.(); newVector = newVector.concat(tmp);
But then you get a type error converting Array to Vector.
I'm stumped, am I missing something stupid or does the vector class really not play well with numeric types? You can try making them decimal numbers just to be sure they get cast as number and not int.
In Flash Actionscript 3, if a function is defined in Frame 1 of a flash animation and the animation loops, does it store another version of the function in memory upon each loop.
[Code]...
If so, is it a best practice to check to see if it's the first time the frame has been run, by setting a variable and checking it's existence, or is it a non-issue because the compiler checks to make sure that a function has not already been defined?
Working in AS2, using CS3 Flash Pro I've simplified this to just the one little thing I'm trying to do.
countervariables.txt has this text in it:
[Code]...
The trace shows itemsPerMili as 'NAN' and totalForYear as 'undefined'. I know itemsPerMili yields 'Not A Number' because totalForYear comes up undefined, but oddly, the loaded variable does show up correctly in a dynamic text field assigned to the variable. I don't understand why it should show up in the dynamic text field correctly when it won't trace.
I want to see the number "3.80517503" in my trace for itemsPerMili.
I have a simple HTML file which embeds a Flash file. On the page styling I have a #flashContent with width:100% and height:100%; the Flash object itself has width="100%" and height=100% and is inside a div with id="flashContent". The idea is to make the Flash object (which is a game) to fill the whole browser window even as it resizes.
This works with no problems on IE and Firefox, but there is a small problem on Chrome. About 90% of the time when the page first loads all that is shown is black (the page's background color). The game only appears if the user resizes the window; from then on out it works correctly.
I'd like to ask if there is anything I am doing wrong or if there is an workaround to ensure the Flash game appears correctly on the Chrome browser.
Like the title say's, is it possible to send data to my flash movie after it has been loaded? More specific: I have a flash-movie with an image in it, and from the outside I would like to be able to alter it by sending fe. '?color=FF00FF' to the movie
I've been told that there is a gaming site that you just need to upload your flash game and it automatically detects scoring and adds the scores to an online highscore table.is it possible?can i somehow using javascript or a 2nd flash file to load a flash and to debug all of it's variables without having the source?
I've just taken and slightly modified a tutorial from actionscript.org. IT explained how to show the time in flash. I completed it and modified it to just show me the hours, minutes and seconds. I'm using it for a site I'm workin on. It was a tutorial for mx though, so I made a seperate swf an had it load into my site's mian swf using the loadMovie script. Now I want to take the time experiance and push it farther. I want to know how I can take the time from the loaded swf (which has a dynamic textbox ofcourse) and use it as a variable. I want to basically two things:
how to get the variable from a loaded swf
How to have a variable control the tint of one MC and the rotation of another.
I'm having a MC fill the whole screen and tint to represent the darkness/brightness of the day and I'm going to have a sun/moon MC rotate past the screen.
I know with a standard Flash FLV player you can get the pcent loaded of an flv. But can you know up to what time is currently loaded? I have a chapter selection drop down and would like to figure out when chapters are available to jump to.
I am loading external swf files into my main file to move between different contents.It all works fine with most of the files except with some.The files that work fine have pictures in different frames in the timeline and the navigation buttons within this swf move between this frames to display a very simple slideshow.The files that don't work, I only made one frame, I've made sure it stops there and then I'm only changing the visibility property of the images to view the different pictures.
This files load fine the first time but if I come out of them and come back, they don't seem to load properly the second time.I have tried making sure that the mc_container in the main movie is unloaded each time before loading a new one into it, but that didn't seem to make any difference.the files that don't work are:
Producing / Carnesky's Ghost train Solo / Film Solo / Rupture Artist Collaborations / The Giant Accordion
I want to communicate with an object within a loaded swf. I know I can use this event listener and function to do so right when the swf has completed loading:
imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadSections) function loadSections(event:Event):void { event.target.content.mc.y+=2 }
But I want to be able to manipulate a given object from the loaded swf at any time not just when the loading is complete. So basically as long as the swf is loaded, is there a way to manipulate objects and call functions within that swf?
i have a mc with instance name "preload" on the first frame of the main timeline, with a movie clip instace "numbers" inside that, which contains 100 frames, with text 1-100, masking a gradiant. on the preload mc i have the following code:
ActionScript Code: onClipEvent (enterFrame) { var bytes = _root.getBytesTotal();[code].....
which goes to the 2nd frame once loaded marvelously... but it just stays at 1% the whole time until loaded... i keep tweaking it but no improvement.
URL...Basically, you press button to enter and the tape measure will roll in time with the amount of data/frames loaded. So if 50% of data/frames loaded, the animation would be halfway completed. Upon completion, it zooms in on tape measure and I have animations from there to get to the main site.This was successfully done in Actionscript 2.0, but I need it to work in Actionscript 3.0.
