Sep 13, 2011I just got my MacBook and am trying out the Flash BUilder on said platform. I've installed Firefox and Google Chrome on my MacBook but I can't seem to find a way to set which browser would launch my Flex apps whenever I hit the Run button inside Flash Builder. As far as I know, I can locate the Browser property on the Project Properties on my Windows copy of Flash Builder but I couldn't over here at my Mac. Any thoughts?

I mean, I would get a .swf file as result of compilation of mxml file in Flash Builder 4 IDE, not Flash CS5 (I don't know CS5, I'm a newbie) . Main target is getting a .swf file by compilation of mxml file, not fla file. Could you explain in detail how this code works? For example what's TXT ? Is it a inputText? Where is this variable defined?

Professional :: Can't Open Flash File, Got "Failed To Open Document" Message?
Aug 14, 2011My CS5 flash crashed when I changed the name of the root folder while it was open. Swf is working fine, but .fla file wont open, I get a "Failed to open document" message. This is a disaser because I've lost two days of work. Is there anything that could be done to fix this problem?

Jun 1, 2011I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

I am using flash cs3 pro and I get the error "Unexpected file format" when trying to open the file, a friend has flash cs4 and has the same error. Is there something I could do to open this .fla file correctly? Or maybe if someone could try opening it and saving it again for cs3?

Jun 23, 2011thing is, I have to do some modifications at my work, but I never used Flashdevelop, only Flash Builder.
However, the project I need to modify was made with Flashdevelop, it comes with a .as3file, no fla file anywhere.
So, what do I need to do in order to use this project in Flash Builder?, just creating a new project and browsing the path file with the src .as files is enough?, or do I need to do something else?

Jun 30, 2011I have an Air Application which uses mx:HTML to show a html Page. This html page is located in my bin-debug and as long as i start my application out of FB it works fine.
In Project -> Properties -> Flex Build Packaging -> Package Content the test.html is selected
When I build the project by Project-> Export Release Build the HTML file is not included in the Air Package and so cannot be shown.

In the documentation I've found (sort of relating to this issue), they always show Windows examples, and they seem to work fine:That doesn't work. I've tried some "resolve to path" syntax, but the HTTP service does not seem to allow for anything but file paths in quotes.

Jul 20, 2011I am using Flash Builder 4 and have mistakenly set an abstract class to be the default application class.. It's not too much of an issue as I have set the correct one again, which works fine most of the time, but not when I am editing the incorrect one and hit F11 - it attempts to run the project via this incorrect class. Is there any way to remove the "runnable" attribute from this file so that this doesn't happen?An example of how this looks in the package explorer is below (Application.as is the correct file, AbstractQuickDraggable.as is not):

Nov 4, 2011I can't seem to generate any output when including the "link-report" compiler commands in Flash Builder 4.5. I've tried several different syntaxes that I've seen online:
-linkreport filename.xml
-link-report=filename.xml
-link-report C:fullpathfilename.xml
-link_report filename.xml
But absolutely nothing gets created when I run, build, or debug the project. Other application settings perhaps? The project is relatively young and doesn't have many custom settings so I'm thinking it is maybe application or config related?

Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.

Jun 16, 2000I've got a 9MB fla file that suddenly doesn't open any more. When I try to open it, it crashes Flash. When I try to open it as a library, it crashes Flash. Someone told me a library object might be corrupted - not good, irreparable. I'm on a Mac and when I try opening the fla file it gives me an "error type 2 occurred." I imported the swf file into a new Flash file, but now it's just a one-layer straight-streaming movie with every frame a completely new, redrawn keyframe. Is there any way to resurrect the original fla file? I've got a Sunday deadline?
