C# :: .net - Access Flex Application ActiveX / ExternalInterface In Separate Process?
Mar 5, 2010
I need to fetch a flex application from a process in C#.
How can i get access to the externalInterfaceAPI when the flex application is running as a Application?
EDIT: After further reading it looks like it is possible, as from what i understood, a flex stand alone application is a ActiveX "container", so what i need is to get access to the ActiveX container, and from there the externalInterface API.)
I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application. Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.
private static var _air:Object; private static var _loader:Loader; private static var appID:String = "someOtherAirApplication";[code].....
I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation. The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
I developing an AIR application in Flex that would be dealing with playing different SWFs. I am finding some issues as these SWFs that I am playing are heavy. I find that the animation is not smooth and is causing the graph of CPU usage to go high (my be because single thread architecture of Flex). I am therefore planning to have a multi process architecture for my application. Something like Google Chrome. I have one main application as one process and other SWFs would be playing in separate process but should be seen inside the main application window. How to make it possible in Flex?
Is it possible to get somehow list of running applications/processes and, while running in background, check which process is active?
Additionally - if somehow, the answer was yes, is it possible to react for change of active window / application react just as if it was Event, or bind to it custom event (e.g. Event.SystemActiveAppChange)?
EDIT: Due to probable missunderstanding, I mean local applications - on your win/mac/linux machine - I would like to (in process of learning of language) track what apps I use the most, make a little graph maybe?
So, the point is: in AIR app, developed in FLEX, I would like to get/list all running applications/processes, as well as which one is active (on user's PC/Mac/Linux)
I have a ActiveX control hosting a flash-player which is in turn running a flash file trying to access data from a web-address.
In an old Windows Application version of my application everything works fine and the flash file is able to access the web-content.
However, in a newer Console Appliction version of the application it can no longer access the web-content.
Is there some kind of difference between a Windows Application and a Console application in terms of security/permissions that might affect an ActiveX hosted flash-player?
I am wondering what values should I put in the Process tag of Application.xml considering my application. I've done some studies but I am still unsure and would like some expert opinion To help you help me : I have a video chat application that comes with a contact list, so think skype on the web.

I set a RollerOver because sometimes RTMFP crashes on my server, and by putting the RollOver it seems to help, by re-newing the core process. However when clients are connected before the rollover, then they will not see their friends going online after the rollover which sucks.
I am writing an AIR application through which I want to open a native process 'wordpad.exe' and write data generated in the AIR application to a document.
The wordpad application opens with a blank document but it generates an error Error#2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:.text=Error #3128: Error while writing data to NativeProcess.standardInput.
I have an ActiveX componenet that displays some data from external systems (scada) and I'd like to embed it in my Flex web application's frontend (displayed in browser).
I am trying to get my Flex application to authenticate with google using the instructions here:Url...I have copied the example there and am trying to get it to work. I am running my app on a loca server so I have changed the next parameter: authSubParams['next'] =UrL...Getting the first token works fine but when I try to get the long lived token I get an error: [code]
I'm trying to access local file system from Flex web application. I know it is pretty difficult, but I think there must be a way. Is there a way that Flex app can use AIR components or maybe web application can call some AIR module in order to choose files and upload?
I have recently uploaded my flex applicaiton on server, it works fine on my system (localhost) but on the production server it tries to access[URL]..which is not available and end up showing "loading" eternally.
I've rarely used AIR in the past, but have call for it now and have a kind of odd situation. A lot of the functionality for the .swf I've made (which needs to be a standalone) exists in a VBScript which the client has provided. if the VBScript can be embedded in an AIR app rather than using an html wrapper?
I am trying to integrate Flex application to access Rest services (using Jersey) through BlazeDS. I'm able to get Rest + Jersey working (pretty straight forward I guess) and I was able to configure Flex + BlazeDS. I'm looking for help to invoke rest services (different methods) from Flex UI based on the annotations specified such as @Path in my rest service class.
Basically, I have some functions in my as file. Some of them play with a mc instance. The instance is not available when calling the function that uses it as callback.
AS function B(){ ExternalInterface.call('console.log','ok')//OK!!! } //italy is a MovieClip on the Main timeline function A(){ B(); ExternalInterface.call('console.log',italy)//Error! } ExternalInterface.addCallback('test',A);
JS $('flash').test();//flash is my html swf object
The error I get trying to reference italy from A (only) whem called from javascript: Uncaught exception: Error in Actionscript. Basically, the italy movieclip is available through the AS functions. But it isn't available if I call an AS function from javascript. As you can see though, I see B from A. It's only Italy that I can't see. why?
We have a Flash app (AS3).This is a desktop application that runs in our own projector. No Air.The projector is written in C++.The projector gives Flash part an indirect access to Windows API via ExternalInterface. Now we want to let our community to create plugins.Just to let them make a small animated picture with a bit of Action Script 3.A plugin is going to be loaded as external .swf file at runtime. And, of course, we would like our users to distribute the plugins on the net. But, we have a security concern. What if some bad person would take advantage of the indirect access to Win API?I have made a small test.A child .swf loaded into the program tries to call ExternalInterface methods. It turned out the child.swf was able to do this.So every .swf file loaded into our program will automatically has an access to Win API.Downloading plugins for our program becomes as dangerous as an .exe file. Can we forbid ExternalInterface access to the loaded .swf?If not - how would you implement plugin system in AS3 with security in mind
I seem to be getting the following error when I try to access a Remote Java class (on Spring/BlazeDS) from the Flex/Cairngorm application. I am going crazy at the moment trying to see what is wrong
I am trying to use javascript to run AS3 functions. When I attempt to compile I'm getting an "Access of undefined property" error message. I've read a few things online about this but I'm still not understanding it. I want to have the flash file always listening for javascript.
We have an application that works no problems on our server with FMS in test mode. As soon as we enter our FMS license key we get this error: "application is not a valid signed application loading access denied".We removed the license key and it works again, but with user limits obviously, so this is not an acceptable fix.
I am trying to write C++ code to interface to arbitrary instances of flash player 10 contained in arbitrary web pages from IE. All I need to be able to do is:
1) determine if the player is playing,
2) start playback, and
3) stop playback.
I am searching for a way to so this programmatically, without resorting to simulating user input to the control.
I have played around with the IShockwaveFlash COM interface which works OK on some sites but not others (e.g. not on YouTube). I am wondering if it is possible to use IShockwaveFlash::CallFunction() with the appropriate XML string to invoke predefined functions in ActionScript that have not been explicitly exported using ExternalInterface.addCallback().
Or perhaps there is enough functionaly using accessibility and the IAccessible interface?
I have more sites, sites have some users, and each user has separate application folder What I want is put application folder in a defined folder like following C:FMISsiteAapplicationsuser1 C:FMISsiteAapplicationsuser2 C:FMISsiteBapplicationsuser1 C:FMISsiteBapplicationsuser2 etc... I think for this I need to create virtual hosts.
I'm practically new to flash and action script and i'm currently trying to code something. I have a *.fla file with a dynamic text..I created a separate *.as file for the action script. My question is how can i reference the dynamic text properties? for example if i put the following code on my *.as file dynamic_txt.text = "place your text here" this will produce 1120: Access of undefined property dynamic_txt..How can i reference the dynamic text on my *.fla from my *.as?
I have a class whose primary purpose is to create and manage other classes in my game. One of its variables is an int that keeps track of the players money. It is also creating towers which are objects of their own. However the tower classes that it creates need to have a way of accessing the money integer (so they know if the player has funds for upgrading them)
I have a Flex AIR2 application which uses native process to run CMD.exe. Application running fine on WinXP, Win R 2008 server. But not running on VISTA 64 bit OS. Flex not able to run CMD.exe when application installed in C:Program Files (x86). When I run application as Administrator mode it is working fine. Below is my code, I want to start cmd.exe as Administrator.
I posted the same question but I think it was not so clear. Now I am rephrasing my question with real problem.I have a flex application. It is basically a web application. On it I have a player that play avi files and some buttons and tabs along side. The application also have recording button that records that direct stream from an IP cam and store that stream on the media (USB). How can I automate function testing of such application. Like I have confusion that when I press the recording button but can I be sure that recording starts? I have tried RIATest and flexUnit 4.
if someone presses ctrl +alt +delete or any kind of shutdown hook from any os and delete the flex process from task manager then how can i track from that flex process application that killing that flex process was activated so i like to do some processing before killing this process.
