I am trying to integrate Flex application to access Rest services (using Jersey) through BlazeDS. I'm able to get Rest + Jersey working (pretty straight forward I guess) and I was able to configure Flex + BlazeDS. I'm looking for help to invoke rest services (different methods) from Flex UI based on the annotations specified such as @Path in my rest service class.

I'm working on a project where we use Flex, Spring, Hibernate and Blazeds,all working on a Weblogic server.Everything works fine and we call services at the server side from the flex app without problems,but now we need to limit the time who spent the execution of the services to 2 seconds, if any service takes more than 2 seconds the server must return a timeout to the flex app.I've been searching for a way to do this with the blazeds configuration, but it looks that it's not possible.Is there any way to achieve this? I've thought in add a filter to the blazeds requests so it can control the timeout... But I can't find any example and I don't have enough knowledge of filter.

View 1 RepliesI have a Spring MVC web application which provides RESTful web services via a controller class (annotated with @Controller) which has methods mapped to specific request types and signatures via @RequestMapping annotations.I have attempted to integrate a BlazeDS service destination into the mix by 1) adding the HttpFlexSession listener to the web.xml, 2) adding the flex:message-broker and flex:remoting-destination declarations to my Spring application context configuration file, and 3) adding a generic /WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml.
The above BlazeDS integration steps appear to have hosed my RESTful web services, in that it appears that requests are no longer being routed to the controller methods. Is it even possible to do this, i.e, to have a single web application which 1) services HTTP requests via request mapped controller methods and 2) services remote object method calls (i.e. from a Flex client) via a BlazeDS service? If so then can anyone tell me what it may be that I'm doing wrong?
I'm building an application with the Flex framework and the 3D graphics library Flare3D. I want to be able to embed my 3D scene into an MXML application and still have the mouse events dispatched to the 3D scene.
Here is my code:

The problem is that the 3D rendering is done by default in a "layer" that is behind the 2D layer (where we can put MXML components). By default, if we mix 3D and 2D elements, we can't see 3D elements. So I added backgroundAlpha="0". This solved the problem of showing the 3D view. But now I have another problem, I can't move the cube (which is the default behaviour) when I click on the scene and move the mouse. I understand that this is because the 3D view is behind the 2D view.
Is it possible to give the 3D view the focus for mouse events (when it's needed) ? Or is there a different way of doing what I want ? The only hack I figured out is to uncomment this //stage.getChildAt(0).visible = false; which make the 2D view invisible. But I want to mix 2D elements and 3D view, so it's not a solution.

I'm making changes to the Flex code using Flex Builder 3, but I just can't get the changes to show up when I refresh the page on my client. Server and client are separate physical machines, I've even re-started the server hardware. One curious thing, even when I re-started the server I didn't have to re-login to the Tomcat manager page

In attempts I have tried, I get the error mentioned in the second question above: Detected duplicate HTTP-based FlexSessions, generally due to the remote host disabling session cookies. Session cookies must be enabled to manage the client connection correctly.
Is connecting one Flex application to two BlazeDS enabled servers completely impossible? We want to be able to have a "common functionality" BlazeDS server that is used by a number of Flex apps that each have their own local BlazeDS server for their own functionality.

I've built a simple flash application that takes a user's photo/image, offers various effects and filters to play with. In the end, the application can write-out the resulting image to a PDF print file (to be purchased and sent to a printer).Currently I'm using PHP to template the web pages, with the Flash app embedded in the body of one of the pages.
I now need to integrate a shopping cart and check-out system, the idea being that the user can play with images, add various images to a shopping cart, at some point choose print sizes for each image, check-out and purchase etc. My app would attached the necessary print files, and email/submit the order to the printer.In researching the various cart systems out there like Zen-cart, Magento, osCommerce, etc.. these all seem to be full featured CMS systems, full websites, that you deploy, customize and skin, add products to etc... a "canned store". But in my case, I'm adding/creating the product at run-time. It's not a traditional store where you browse and select items.
At first glance its not clear to me how I would use one of these systems, how to integrate with my Flash app.... it seems I only want to make use of the shopping cart, customer database portion, payment transaction features.Is it possible to use one of these, using only the checkout and order management through a API? called from my Flash app? or processed via back-end PHP?

View 14 RepliesI have to deploy a webapp on Tomcat 6.0.24, serving some webservices that should be accessed with REST-style methods (not fully REST, since the used flex class HTTPService can just send GET and POST).
The webservices are deployed at [URL]
The problem is that the policy of flex sandbox (i think it is called so) requires that the server with the services has to offer a file crossdomain.xml on his root directory.
I created that file with the following contents:

I am testing it and it does not seem to work. Maybe i am not doing it right. PS: I think Apache is not configured to manage Tomcat-addressed requests, every request is dispatched by port, i think. I can not provide the exact flex error since i am not developing that part. I will try to make a minimal example in the next hours and see if i can reproduce the problem.

I created a Java REST service using Jersey. I use three of the HTTP "verbs" GET, POST and DELETE. I want to create several prototype front ends for the service. After much research, a lot dating to 2008 and 2009, I have been unable to find anything remotely simple.My three options are:

I have already read the question posted about asking whether using Flex for REST services were worth it. That information is old as well. I want to introduce REST services to my company but Flex's limited support for HTTP PUT and DELETE are discouraging. My service also uses the Accept header to determine if JSON or XML will be returned to the client. I can't seem to change HTTP headers without doing socket programming.Is there an easy way to use Flex 4 with RESTful services that uses PUT/DELETE and the Accept HTTP header?

View 3 RepliesI am at a point where I need to access some web services to download information from my SWF using AS 3.0.I have not been able to find any built-in support for web service invocation and consumption of results in AS 3.0. Am I looking in the right places? (note: I am not familiar with Flex and I am not using it).
So what I did was to build my own HTTP/SOAP request and POSTing it using a URLRequest. That works and I got the results back, however, I was just looking at the results and was wondering if there is some library out there that can help me parse the XML results of the web service call.
Is there any built-in support for calling and parsing web service data for AS 3.0? And if not, any useful tools out there that can make this task easier/simpler?

By default the turnkey blazeds runs through Port 8400 - so I imagine there are some additional tasks required to configure the endpoints to work through port 80?
