Change A Name Of A Button In A Flash Movie?

I have a flash movie, which I want to use as a header for a website. When I play the movie, I have 5 different buttons on it. When I open through Flash the .fla file it shows me that there is one button copied 5 times.How do I change the name in one of the buttons in the movie, I want when I play the movie, to have a different name on the button, but I don't understand from where do I change the name, if all the buttons I have in the .fla file has the About me name, I suggest the name is the same because all the buttons does the same effect when you go over them.

and I want to add multiple buttons, not just this one. I figured out by trial and error that I couldn't just consecutively list the instances, I also found I couldn't just replicate the code and change the instance names. I just need to know how to go about having multiple buttons/clips.

I created a button with some roll over effects added some load movie action to load external movie.swf file, everything works perfect except I need about 12 same buttons but with different loadMovie command I mean to load different swf files. so what I did to make it fast I copied the first button and pasted it 12 times so I made 12 nice buttons, but the problem I have is that when I change button 2 load movie settings it automatically changes every button, so I am a little frustrated,

I am trying to use a movieclip as a button so I can have animation on the mouseover. I have been unable to get the button to work to change to a different frame. I can make the movieclip open a browser window, but not jump to another frame.Here is the code that I have in the button:

Ok, so I'm trying to accomplish a seemingly simple task. I have a gallery set up for a website, where if a thumbnail is clicked, a larger version appears on a display. I can't use external swf files because it doesnt add itself to th get BytesTotal, so the loading bar wouldnt include it loading those external swfs. There is a pause before the picture actually loads (I want it preloaded).
Now I have the movie clips i want to exchange in my library, but dont know hwo to get them to become the on-screen movieclip. I have an on(release) function with _root.screen = 'mc_clip1'; is that not the right syntax? is there a better way to load mc's from the library?

This actionscript 3 stuff is giving me trouble with the easiest functions. I was able to get a movie clip to play by clicking on a button, but now I am having trouble with the close button. Basically, I just need the movie clip (box1) to go back to frame number one when the user clicks on the "X". I set up the button the same way as I did the pop-up box:

I'm new to Flash and am looking to use the following tutorial to create an advanced button. I know it is probably a very simple fix, I just cannot figure it out. [URL] In the tutorial the rollover and onrelease has the following script this.onRollOut = function(){ rewind = true;} this.onRelease = function(){getURL [URL]); } I have tried to change the on.Release command to go to and play another frame in to movie instead of opening a new url. But I'm not getting it to work correctly.

I have created my own button class called custom_btn.I created it on the timeline and have exported it for use in ActionScript.I can make an instance of my button, and add it to the screen fine.The button has a dynamic text field that I would like to change the text in. I have tried to give the text field a name on the time line and the access it when I make the button, but I get an error (I think this is because the name isn't being saved to the class).How do I change the text?[code]

i have my nave bar as my main swf then i load each page as an external swf in a mc container. each button should be marked when you navigate to the respective page. how would i load a current pages icon over the generic one when i navigate to that page then unload it when i navigate to another page?

Q: I am making a web-application for school work. see: [URL] the collors i got working now but when i press the second button to change the view off the shoe i want that the colors change to. Now the colors keep standing. The colors are pictures converted into MC and the works with attachmovie. But with what script can i change the collors so they will change and fit on the shoe? I'm trying to create a top panel menu that contains 5 buttons.
I configured Up and Over state for each button.
how can I configure that one the button is clicked, the look of the button will change to the look i configured in Over state.
Each state contains a different image.
Is there a way to change the look of the button to the look it configured in it's different states using Action Script?

I can run the code below, where the answers are dynamic text boxes hovering over the buttons. However, the user can't click the button where the textbox overlaps it. I need a way to either assign button labels like the 4 text boxes below or make it so the textboxes do not interfere with clicking the button?

I am building a small flash application. In my application I've inserted an fla video. the flv video's length when I open it in vlc player is 16 seconds (after I edit the speed of the video in an external program and then converted it back to fla). When I open it in flash cs 5, the video's length is back to 90 seconds. I guess it's got something to do with the frame rate of my flash project. I'd like to be able to change the frame rate of only the movie clip containing that video, and not of the entire stage. How is that possible?

I have seen this on some site, so there must be a way of doing this. How do you dynamically change a flash movies dimension during runtime? For example, the forum nugget is working on I noticed that the height of the flash forum dynamically grows as the thread getslonger...because I can see my browser scroll bars appear. How can this be achieved?? his seems mind buggling to me, because you have to set a flash movies stage dimensions before publishing and the html has the flash dimesions too, so I don't get how this is being done
