Jul 1, 2010So I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.
I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.
However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.
Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.

Actionscript 3 :: Better Pack Rectangles Tangent To A Sphere For A 3d Gallery?
Mar 16, 2011I am creating a 3D sphere gallery with ActionScript 3 and the Flash 10 3D (2.5D) APIs. I have found a method that works but is not ideal. I would like to see if there is a better method.

To see this in action, click here. alternate link. Notice that with the default settings, the number of items actually in the sphere are less by 13. I believe is the error introduced by my approximation in the first step.
I am not able to figure out a method for determining what the exact radius of such a sphere should be. I'm hoping to learn either a better method, the correct method, or that what I am trying to do is hard or very hard (in which case I will be happy with what I have).
Actionscript 3 :: Showing Service Pack Version Of Current System In Flex Application
Nov 1, 2010I am able to port much of my application from Flex 35 to Flex 4.0
Next is to show my current system Operating system name (XP Pro, Vista, Linux..etc) along with the service pack level of my system on which my application is running.
I am able to show uo OS name "Windows XP" using "Capabalities.os" in Flex4.0. but not "Professional" or "Pro" exactly. But I could not find an API for showing up the service pack level.
I have to display the content in a label. I tried with Capabilities.cpuArchitecture and System.vmversion, but it shows up some other system data.
I want to show up Service pack version.

Feb 22, 2011I generate a HTML page with VB.Net which stores several pinks to files. These links are formatted with JavaScript looking like the Windows-Explorer with folders and files. The problem: There are only download links for the files, not for Folders. A folder can contain Subfolders ,a List of Files or a combination of both. So if I want to download a folder, I have to click manually on every file-link. I have not the possibility to insert PHP or another Server-side language. my question now is: Is there a client side way to Download them by click on a Folder? I prefer Javascript but If it isn't possible Flash will be ok also.

Aug 15, 2011Under the stroke properties before or after I draw a line, I set it to NORMAL but when I re-select the line, it keeps changing it back to NONE. Some how it is now the default and I cannot change it I have tried opening new documents from scratch but I still cannot get it back to scale normally. All the lines are inside movie clips and these movie clips need to scale properly. It applies changes to the buttons I am not rolling over, i.e. if I were to roll over a button the rest of the buttons in the group would dim and blur and etc, but not the button I am over. May 20, 2011I've got a fullscreen button which, when clicked, works. However, after a few seconds, Flash automatically exits full-screen mode and reverts to normal mode. I'm running this in the browser. I tried stripping all the code in the fullScreen event handler down to this (I removed toggling between displayStates):

It's still happening. Has anyone seen this before?

Nov 7, 2011I'd like to use tooltips with the same design as the error/validation tooltips (rounded box with a tip pointing to the mouse's position).Given the name "error/validation tooltips", it bothers me to use them as normal tooltips.I haven't found people having the same "principles" issue as myself..So, is it that bad to use the error/validation tooltips as normal tooltips? And, if yes, what would be the easiest way to re-use its design without rewriting much code?
