Im having a problem with .mov files. When i export my flash into a .fla file, it runs fine, but when I export it as a .mov file, the video sequence gets much longer, slower, and seems to be missing a lot of frames in between. It's all out of sync with my music and it makes me very frustrated.

Is there a way to do this in plain Javascript? Or will it require a callback type function to be added into the Flash file itself?

I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

View 1 RepliesI have a setup where I'm handling the enterFrame event of my application. In the handler, I draw two rectangles (one fullscreen, one small orbiting one) using the graphics member of an mx.containers.Canvas object.
After a few minutes of execution, the app slows down substantially. Given enough time, it will come to a lowly crawl. I get the same result regardless of release/debug build on chrome, IE, and Firefox using Flash Player 10.1. Presented below is the Flex project in question:

I've read some info on the internet which states that the cause of the slowing down or the lag in the application is that the removeChild() does not remove the child from the memory

View 3 RepliesI have set up a nice video site for a client. I have a sub menu where you can select swf files. Each swf has an FLV attatched to it. I prefered this method over XML for various reasons.In any case I would like after the swf has loaded, and the flv COMPLETES the entire movie, to automatically go to the next swf file and start that flv. I've tried many codes with no luck.

View 8 RepliesI have flash as part of the CS3 suite but I never use it, don't know how. However I have a need to convert some flash files to something that can be uploaded to the web, ala YouTube. So naturally I opened a .flv file with Flash and simple went to File->Export hoping (but doubting) it would be that easy. Of course, that did not work. The result was a half second of blank white screen.
Is there a quick and simple way to open a Flash file and convert it/export it as .mov (or some other format for uploading to video sites that don't accept flash files)?

For normal Flash projects, I can create an executable (*.exe) file that includes the Flash codec so that the viewer doesn't need to install Flash beforehand.
Can I create something similar for the SWF file created by InDesign?

View 1 RepliesIt would appear that FileReference.upload() is the only way in which you can upload a file to the server in Flash and get feedback about its upload state via a PROGRESS callback. All other methods just go off into the ether and come back when the file upload is completed.
Unfortunately, FileReference appears to insist that a user select the file to be uploaded. There doesn't appear to be a mechanism by which to set the file through code. The reason I need this is that I'm allowing the user to upload massive files and am uploading them in chunks, so, I want to just pack a chunk of data into a FileReference (maybe 5 or 10 megs) and send that off and watch it go. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it's possible to manually load data into a FileReference object? The data property is read-only, sadly.

View 1 RepliesMy Flash game targets 24 fps, but slows to 10 on slower machines. This is fine, except Flash decides to throttle the queue of incoming MouseEvent and KeyboardEvents, and they stack up and the Events fall behind. Way behind. It's so bad that, at 10 fps, if I spam the Mouse and Keyboard for a few seconds not much happens, then, after I stop, the game seems to play itself for the next 5 seconds as the Events trickle in. Spooky, I know.
Does anyone know a way around this? I basically need to say to Flash, "I know you think we're falling behind, but throttling the input events won't help. Give them to me as soon as you get them, please."
I have written a basic piece of code to load and unload different swfs, now on their own they're pretty smooth (opened independently) , but when you load and unload them a couple of times in the main fla, just like as a user would navigate through a website, it causes the whole flash player and the movies to slow down quite dramatically and looks very bad as if about to crash. Now i know this problem was reported in FP 9, but anyone else has encountered this in FP 10 as well ?
