View 2 Replieshow to convert a file I have on my server (pdf/excel/ppt) to a ByteArray. The reason I want to do this is to display the dialogue open/save as to the user and I must set the Content-Type to octet-stream. The dialogue shows fine with just navigateToURL() but for pdf's it is the user's local browser setting. For a URLRequest I must set the data as a ByteArray. I'm trying to use the code located here:

I know its a true Pain but does anyone know any way to convert wav ByteArray to mp3 ByteArray.
View 1 RepliesOne trick shown me that I could use bytes+"" which convert into String but not a pure String. It is acceptable by any UI components except it won't accept when I throw bytes+"" into switch statement. How do I convert bytearray to pure string?

is there any way to convert animated movieClip to byteArray and save it as swf or flv or any video extension on the computer??
I tried writeObject but it doesn't work !!
I made a flash effect for my friend's site and he won't let me get the flash back after a fight. I can see the effect on the homepage of his website. Is there any way I can get the flash to an fla file on my computer? Is there any way I can find the swf file on his websites system and convert it to an fla?

View 5 RepliesI want to convert a ByteArray wich contains a .flv file read through a socket connection to a video playable object and play it, or attach it somehow to the netstrem as its source. Why this ? I'm trying to write an app using AS 3.0 that connects two swf clients to each other directly without a server (after they know of each other) and allow them to exchange video sequences. So the reverse way video -> bytearray -> network -> reciever ->video would be of interest aswell.
View 5 Replieswhen i try to doing the following code it fails
bmd.setPixels(bmd.rect, decodeValue);
and the error message is: Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered. The situation is i have store the image as binary into the database by convert the byteArray and now i would like to retrieve it and convert back to image.
Just to clear this up ByteArray Need to Place into Bitmap and then you can add to the movie Clip right?

Is there any way to convert any displayObject to ByteArray? I can of course iterate through pixels, but thats not what i was thinking about, I would like to write ie MovieClip into ByteArray, and then read it back as it was.writeObject doesnt work for DisplayObjects.

View 3 RepliesI have a string, I am compressing it with bytearray and save it to a file. In other application I am loading it and when I try to uncompress it, it's give me an error. How can I convert a compressed string in to bytearray type to be able to convert it? The code for compression:
var b:ByteArray = new ByteArray();b.writeMultiByte(t,"iso-8859-1")b.compress();
i have a string which contains all binary data. the binary data represents a custom object in my application.
i want to convert all the data inside the string into binary format and store it in a ByteArray. then I want to read the object from the ByteArray using readObject.
My program saves text files, which contain various text, some of which is a string representation of a ByteArray. It does this by using the toString() method of the flash.utils.ByteArray class, which I assume converts a ByteArray (for example, 13x$) into its string representation "13x$". So how do you reverse the process, and turn the string ("13x$") into a ByteArray (13x$)? Even if it's not that simple, I just need to have the ByteArray, put something in a text file, and extract from it the same ByteArray.
View 1 RepliesI need to write a ByteArray to a file on local disk with Flash AS3. The flashapplication is run locally (it's a projector exe).
I found the FileReference class with the save() function which works perfect. The only problem is, that this function opens a filebrowser and let's the user select where to store the file. However - i have the path already as string and need to save to this location without useraction (since i'm exporting a lot of files into this directory in one go and don't want the user to choose each one manually).
Is there a way to store a bytearray from a projector to local disk without opening a filebrowser?
I'm also using mdm Zinc, which actually provides a function to save a ByteArray to disk, but this function is for some unknown reasons not working. I already filed a bugreport, but I need to get this to work very urgently, so i'm looking for alternatives!
I read limited (small - 15 - 500 mb files). I need to be able to put all file bytes into one single bytearray. So I have a function:
[Bindable]
public var ba:ByteArray = new ByteArray;
//.... code ....//
[Code]....
But it does not work=( - gives me Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered.
How to get a full bytearray from stream to use it as normal bytearray?
I am using the FileReference object. I want to be able to save the local file data into a ByteArray. I know that I can use the data property in Flash 10, but I would like a solution that works for earlier versions of Flash.

I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

View 1 RepliesI wrote an application that loads a FLV into a ByteArray object at runtime. Now I want to play this FLV into a Video object. The problem I have is that the Video object won't accept anything else than a NetStream (or a Camera) as its source, and I can't find a way to set an in-memory FLV as a NetStream's source for playing.
View 2 RepliesI need to be able to send a bytearray object to a javascript function or a java method, but I was wondering if I could do it using XMLHTTPRequest.
import asfiles.encoding.JPEGEncoder;import flash.display.Bitmap;import flash.display.BitmapData;import flash.external.[code]...
So I have a video that plays stream from a webcam,I will click a button and take a picture. I encode that picture using JPEGEncoder then I store it in a ByteArray.How do I send that data over to either a javascript function or a java class?I don't want to use the navigateToURL (URLRequest) method because that will redirect my page.Is there a way to send the data to a function while still staying on the same page?For example, make a asynchronous call to a javascript function or java method?
I have byte array, and I want to write into it a Function object, like the following:

I am working on a game, made with Flash (using AS3) The game has a fast ball and when this ball hits an object it has to make a sound... but the sound starts with delay (so the ball is far away when the sound is played).This sound is edited by me and it hasn't got any silences at the beginning.The method i'm currently using is the simplest one:
public var sonidoPuntos1:sonidopunto1 = new sonidopunto1()
and then...
sonidoPuntos1.play()
I am trying to introduce the file into a ByteArray and then playing it from there...
It's a bit vague - the whole thing with AMF. On one hand we have a client capable of serializing and sending everything from integers to XML documents and ByteArray streams, but on the other hand we have the FMS with a JavaScript host. Where is the bridge? :-) I mean how does one work with the objects, in particular, a ByteArray, received through the [generic] wire? It's easy with numbers and strings, but no word on more complex objects.
