Flash :: Accessing Uza's Global Object From A Loaded External Swf?

Mar 4, 2010

I am using the 1.2 version of Uza's Global singleton (http://www.uza.lt/codex/as3-global-object/). The container swf stores some data and a link to a function in the "global" object.

Then another swf is loaded inside the container, it gets it's global instance with Global.getInstance();, and i suppose i can access the data and function stored in global by the container swf.

This works perfectly on localhost served by a webserver, but when i put the files on my external production server the loaded swf's global appears to not have anything stored by the container.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Accessing Global Variable In External SWF

Mar 19, 2010

I'm trying to access a global variable in an external swf. I'm loading the external swf like this.
myLoader.loadClip(game, 2);

I'm running a main loop that repeatedly checks certain variables. The variables that are not global I am able to access in the following fashion:
_level2._root.variable;

But I can't seem to access the global variables in the external swf. Things I've tried:
_level2._global.var;
_level2._root.var;
_global._level2.var;

CS3 : Accessing Data Loaded From External Textfile?

Mar 3, 2010

I'm trying to load data from an external textfile, called "config_flash.txt". It works perfectly if applying the fetched data is done within the same function where the loading is done. However, I would like to use the fetched variables in other parts of the script.

Here's what works:

Actionscript Code:
var varLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest("config_flash.txt"));varLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,

[code]...

So, basically I want the variables/values defined inside the function to be available anywhere in the script. The error that the second code snippet causes is as follows: "1120: Access of undefined property text1/text2".

ActionScript 3.0 :: External SWF Loaded Accessing Loader Class?

Feb 2, 2010

I have a Main.fla (with Main.as as document class) that calls the external SWF (which has its own document class too)

ActionScript Code:

mLoader = new Loader();

[Code]....

Another question. Is it possible to do some kind of listener? Example, I call this external swf, and if the user press a button inside this external swf, this button triggers the listener on the Main.as? Something like running an external mini game, and wait for the results/hiscore.

I want it to access a parameter of a movie clip that this same button loads onto the movie for the new global variable value. I have the final line under this button's onrelease script with something like this:

globalvariable1 = movieclip.parameter;

Everything is on level 0 and I've tried prefixing everything with _root. but it didn't make a difference, the global variable still wasn't changed. I'm a newbie so don't laugh if this is a really dumb question!

Flash - Accessing A Button Inside A Loaded Swf File?

Dec 28, 2011

I am trying to access a button inside an external swf file that I loaded. Problem is every time I try to access this button I get an error saying that it's null!

Here is my code:

public class DocumentClass extends Sprite
{
public var loader:Loader;
public var swfFile:URLRequest;

[Code].....

Now this should work, code-wise I think its correct. The problem is that loader cant find the required button. There is indeed a button in the loaded movieClip with an instance name of "button", I double checked that.

[URL] basically i was just a layer too high and this is why i couldn't access anything..

Flash - Block / Prevent Loaded SWF From Accessing Loader Stage

Sep 29, 2011

I have two SWFs: a Loader SWF, and a Loaded SWF. I need to add the Loaded SWF to the display hierarchy, but I don't want to give it free access to the stage. It may, for instance, attempt to change the scaleMode, and I don't want that to happen. What are some good methods for restricting loaded content's access to the stage? I may, for instance, want to allow it to access the stageWidth and stageHeight, but not the scaleMode or align.

Additional Constraints. I can't change anything about the Loaded SWF. Both SWFs are in the local-with-file-system sandbox. These SWFs are both Flash Player 10, ActionScript 3, made in Flash Professional. Not AIR, not Flex. I'd love to be able to implement a proxy class or a getter to somehow intercept calls to the stage, but I don't believe there is any way to.

I don't believe, for example, that you can subclass the Stage class and use that subclass in place of the normal Stage object referenced by the stage property in all MovieClips. The stage property is read-only, so it can't be cross-scripted by the Loader to point to something different.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Syntax For Accessing An Object In Another Movie Clip?

Jul 5, 2011

I have an object named "Defer" that I need to access. That object only exists in frame 2 of a movie clip named: B2_mc. The other 4 frames of the movie clip B2_mc do not contain the "Defer" object. When I try to access "Defer" with the following code:

Defer.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, B2Redd);
function B2Redd(event:MouseEvent):void{
B2_mc.gotoAndStop(4);
}

The .swf doesn't run and the error message says I'm attempting to access an undefined property. I've never tried to access an object that wasn't on the stage, so I know my syntax is wrong for trying to access "Defer" since it's not on the stage. What's the correct syntax for drilling down to an object that may be buried deep somewhere?

Removing the selectedComponent variable type so it reads public static var selectedComponent; removes the conversion error and seems to change the ID variable but it appears to only be a copy of the object.
