Flash :: Camera Resolution Very Low While Running Under Linux?
Jun 14, 2010
I've met a problem while trying to stream with my camera. Whatever i try, by switching the camera (3 different UVC-cameras) or which Linux-OS (CentOs, Fedora Core) or testing at different Flash-Sites (incl. one of my own) - i always get a resolution of 160 x 120. Other applications manage up to 800 x 600.
Is this a known Bug/Feature? I've searched the Internet and found many people with the exact problem, but with no solution. What should i do? The tool flashcam didn't work either.
I'm looking for a really really small linux distribution or process of making my own that's sole purpose is to get an air application to launch full screen and stay there; Essentially I'm building a home kitchen computer that runs entirely as an AIR app.
I have looked into using windows xp; and windows xp embedded but they pose so many issues I figured I'd try modern linux.
I have also seen TinyCore Linux which looks interestingly small but not sure what issues that poses in regards to running AIR and "hardware" accelerated display. I've also thought about stripping down an Ubuntu installation but I'm sure somebody must have done this already; google is just failing me right now.
I'm running FMS 4.5 on a Linux system with 4GB of RAM.Whenever I do a live broadcast from the server, the audio does a very strange thing. It sounds, ever so slightly, like an old record player where someone is occasionally (4-5 times a minute) putting a small amount of pressure on the speed of the record player and altering the pitch of the music. All my buffer settings are the default settings. It happens whether I'm doing CD quality audio or dialup 11025 kbps audio. I'm using MP3 for an audio format.
Is it possible to have multiple FMS installation running on 1 linux server? This mean that each fmsadmin, fmsmaster, fmsedge, fmscore will run under a specific user. (not vhosts of a single FMS install)How will this impact the performance of the other FMS instances in case there are more of them running on the same server?
From a Flash object, I would like to be able to detect the presence of a webcam that the user might grant access to, without actually asking the user whether they want to grant access. This is to streamline a large application that has extra features if a webcam exists — if there is a webcam, the application will present several dialogs that lead up to the normal cam-security prompt, but if the user doesn't have the hardware, I want to skip over them altogether. Requesting access to the cam before those dialogs won't make sense to the user.
It appears not to be possible to call Camera.getCamera() without the security prompt happening. Is there a workaround? (For instance, could I, perhaps, call getCamera in a hidden Flash object and inspect its return value, or does it block until the user acknowledges the security prompt?)
Usually Adobe Flash applications can access any usb-webcam.I have a USB camera for microscopes which understands TWAIN and DirectShow. Is there a possibility to access the video data from this camera with flash?
I want to know is there anyway to invisible title bar for a AS3 project? and how to force program to use fix resolution and change monitor resolution to what we want?
I am capturing camera on flex for android using air 3.1,and found that the camera is only showing the a part of of actual camera video. When i view camera using normal camera application in android galaxy tab, it shows full camera area but when i am capturing the camera in flex its showing only the center area for it.I tried using setMode to set the resolution, but its not of any use.Is there any way to get full camera area captured inside flex using camera.getCamera ?
I have a video capture device on a machine. I have written a windows application to capture the video from this device. While capturing, if i try to broadcast using flash it does not connect. If i'm already broadcasting and then try to capture then my windows application does not get the capture pin of the device. So, flash seems to be taking the capture pin. Is there anyway to broadcast using the preview pin on the device so that i can capture using my application. Or is there way where i can split the capture pin and give one to my app and one to the broadcaster
Using 10,3,162,29 on linux amd64, flash works perfectly on all sites apart from www.telegraph.co.uk whose videos are hosted by url... ooyala emailed me that they do not support linux. I believe flash would work if the telegraph were told how to script their html to execute flash. the flash video appears to load but then fails to execute. No error messages are displayed and no errors can be found on log files.I have seen several criticisms on the web on this issue and there is a consensus that it is adobe which is at fault. I believe in order to protect their reputation adobe will need to resolve this issue; I think it unlikely that the telegraph contract with ooyala allows them to ignore commonly used pc o/s's like linux. There is certainly little point in Adobe investing in linux flash if popular websites fail to provide adequate infrastructure.
How would one go about adding fl.controls.* to AS3 projects developed under Linux?
Apparently it is not part of Flex 3SDK for Linux (which is what I am using to compile) or maybe it is and I am not importing it correctly..I downloaded this SDK last March, maybe time for update?
Looking at Adobe Official Docs for fl.controls does not mention that this library is somehow restricted.
In particular, I was looking for fl.controls.UIScrollBar type of functionality
In a webbapp hosted on its private server with linux(ubuntu server 10) , the users will upload documents(MS word, excel, powerpoint, pdf, etc..). We want to convert the files in swf(flash) objects , to embed them to the site. I saw a lot of websites having this future.
I'm developing an applications which I've got running on a server on my linux desktop. Due to the shortcomings of Flash on Linux (read: too hard) I'm developing the (small) flash portion of the app in Windows, which means there's a lot of frustrating back and forth. Now I'm trying to capture the output of the flash portion using flash tracer and that is proving very difficult also. Is there any other way I could monitor the output of trace on linux?
I have a problem with the standalone Linux Flash player. The thing is that when I have a video playing in background and over it I make some tweens, it flickers all the time and it is an annoying flicker. It happens only on Linux Flash Player (it works on Windows Flash Player). The flicker appears when I have a video on background, only when the tween is made and on the portion of the screen where the tween is made. I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed and the latest version of standalone Flash Player (from 2/24/09). I've tried this on several LCD and on all it does the same. My video card has the Intel G31 Express Chipset (the drivers for the video card are the one from Ubuntu).
I have a strange problem. When I run an exe projector that I exported from flash cs5.5, and on few of my client's computers it running very slow in full screen. When I running an swf file (not exe projector), also in full screen, it running well!I checked my clients computer hardware, and it match the system requirements of flash player.
I have a problem in Flash Site uploading. That is, i have created a flash site & in the dreamweaver i inserted the flash site as insert -> media -> Shockwave. The site is running inside the dreamweaver but when i publish it, flashsite is not running.
I am working on a previously developed flash files that contain components. My development system has recently changed to Linux and since I have noticed the components aren't loading in firefox 3 (latest player version 10,0,22,87), both files have a slider component and one also has a stepper. The slider doesn't load at all, the stepper shows the number as text which I can edit.Opening the files on Windows XP with the same player version (WIN 10,0,22,87 apart from being on windows) and all was ok. Then I checked Vista (exact same version as XP) and the same issue as with Linux showed.I tried with vista (WIN 9,0,45,0) and everything was ok, I also switched linux back to 9 something and the components loaded correctly.I then wrote a basic test swf with just labels and a slider, this worked on linux with 10,0,22,87.I gather it must be to do with the way the components are dynamically loaded (as we use json to set the component values/options). Has anyone had a similar issue or can notice any issues in the way we are loading the components?
note: I have shorted the code above and removed some references as it is for a client so I will keep that private, there is also the class that sets up this code so if more info is required I can paste parts of that aswell.

I have the following code,[code]This works great in Windows. Changes the color of the object.I tested in Mac too. It works great there too.But today I tested it under linux and the color isn't changed.I am using the latest flash player in all the testings.
I switched to Linux in order run zen cart and now Flash isn't playing on my sites. My host says in need different scripts for Linux, but can't/won't say wha
I am writing a webcam chat in flash (for the client side), I also am using PHP/Apache/Memcache for the server side for text chats... What exactly will I need in terms of server side software to connect these users flash/swf sessions together? I currently have an ubuntu server running Lamp (Apache/Php/MySql/Memcache)the client to client text chatting works fine, just need to somehow connect the webcams.
system infoflash player version: 10_1_102_65OS: linux debian, 6.0.2web browser: Mozilla Iceweasel 3.5.16problem descriptionI have a flash file that uses parameters to show output on the screen. unfortunately i don't have sources and can't modify/review it.shows correct flash in the browser.but when i try to load flash from fileflash can't read passed parameter and shows invalid outputit's really strange. because when i downgraded flash plugin (from 10_1_102_65 to 9) both protocols works! That is something occurred in the flash player above 9.unfortunately i can't use Flash Player 9 in my production environment so i should resolve the issue with Flash Player 10.
The code below compiles fine on the Flex 4 SDK on Fedora 15. Mouse-click opens the dialog box, I click okay, and a file is saved, but the file is empty. I run the same SWF file (that was compiled on the Linux machine) on a Windows machine, and the created file contains the expected data. I was thinking there was a permissions problem, but if that were so, why should Linux even let me save the file? It is going to slow things down immensely if I cannot code something and test it on the same machine...
I want to create a basic GUI for a touchscreen panel running linux grml with fluxbox so I'm very restricted. The Gnash player is also available. Is there a way to call shell/bash commands inside a Flash file (swf)?I want to create a GUI to control the mplayer and volume with the touchscreen... If it's not possible with Flash, what do you think is the easiest way?

I'm trying to develop a "virtual" video driver based on ViVi project example. It's virtual since it doesn't interact with any camera. It gets a video stream from a user program (C++) and also it acts as video driver for another user program (Flash) which displays the video stream.
So, if I have a /dev/video0. One program needs write frame to it and another reads one from. Is that possible? I need this because Flash doesn't recognize this camera, so I use a virtual driver as a bridge from my grabber (which uses the real driver) and Flash.
I am looking for libraries or solutions to convert a Microsoft PowerPoint file into a playable Flash file. The constraints are that I must be able to do this from Java, a webapp, that is running on a Linux-based server. I have been scouring Google and have only come up with two options: iSpring SDK -[URL] Option #1 is looking like it will be cost prohibitive based on initial conversations with the vendor (i.e. no price listed on web site). Option #2 seems non-ideal as it will require installing additional dependencies of OpenOffice and X11. This seems like too much overhead for what should be an inline solution.
Everything else I could find was either written only for Microsoft .NET or was just a PowerPoint plugin exporter. Any other solutions out there that are being buried by Google SEO? Can someone, maybe, convince me that the overhead of Option #2 really ain't that bad?
Update: I should clarify that I'm not opposed to reliance on a native library as long as it will compile on CentOS or, preferably, has a yum package available. I should, also, clarify, that I'm not opposed to a "for pay" option within realms of reasonable.
I'm trying to find a way to have a standalone debug player on Ubuntu Lucid 64 bit. It seems that Adobe doesn't distribute such thing, however, it may be possible to rung 32 bit version, or is it?
