Flash :: Loading Swf From A Separate File Server

Dec 15, 2009

I am currently wondering if it is possible to load a swf that is sitting on another file server. I.e. I currently have a custom play bar swf which is embedded on a website (behind the company's firewall) which then loads swf content (currently in the same folder on the website server). The problem I have is bandwidth between remote sites is limited and streaming the swf content from the website server is not an option, however we do have a DFS set up to push all the swf content out to local file servers.

I have tried using a file:// path which works if you create a windows projector file however it doesn't work when embedded onto a website as it seems to try to access via http which the file servers are not set up for. So is it possible to get the play bar swf to load the swf content sat on a remote file server?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Txt File From Separate Server To SWF?

Sep 8, 2011

I believe I am using AS2, I have cobbled some script together from the internet and it seems to be mostly working, but there is one issue I have.Okay here goes with my explanation. I have an SWF that loads a random quote from a txt file which is located on the same server as the SWF file. The quote has an 'a href' tag around the text so that when clicked it will load a URL. - This is all working fine! Here is the problem:I would like to use the same SWF file on a separate server (server 2), that then calls the quotes from to the txt file on server 1. I have added the complete path to the txt file, but when i run the SWF on server 2, it gives me an error. Here is the script I am using in the FLA file.

Code:
/****************************************
**Random Quotes Script*******************

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading THREE Separate .swfs Into THREE Separate Tweens

Jan 17, 2011

This is NOT the same as my last thread as i am after three and NOT ONE as last time. In the attached movie there are three seperate movies loading into three seperate tweens. Please note that i am happy with this movie as it is, and do not want to change anything about it except for the script itself. It refurs to three seperate clips "b.a","d.c" and "f.e". What i want is for the script to incorperate all three clips under one name of "mc" And instead of have three seperate widths, "width 1","width2" and "width3" i want the script to also incorperate all three widths and heights into just one name of "width" and one name of "height".

PHP :: Flash - Loading PNG File From Server

May 24, 2011

I need to loading a PNG file from a server into my flash project. What I want to do it be able to call a PHP page and send it a variable which I can do. Then I want to access a db and get a path for the image, I can do this too. What I'm not sure about is what to do then. What I need to happen is the PHP to return the PNG to flash somehow. Can I just add the PNG to the php page and use a loader somehow? I've been searching around google but most tutorials seem to be getting PNGs out.

ActionScript 2.0 - Flash - Export From .fla File Symbol's (frames) To Separate File And Use It

Nov 17, 2011

I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Export Text From A Flash File Into A Separate File?

Mar 22, 2006

Is it possible to export text from a text field, which has been created in Flash and export it into an external file such as a text file or Word document?The idea is that information will be collected by the user into a text field within the swf. Hopefully, this information can then be exported into an external file which will allow the user to work on and edit at a later stage. It needs to be a separate editable document. Is this possible? I'm using Flash 8.

Media Server :: Cannot Connect To Admin Console FMS 3.5 Running Separate Apache Server

Jul 7, 2009

I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5

FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111)
Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)

However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.

/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening:
Jul  7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server starting...
Jul  7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server started (/opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).

[Code]....

All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.

Media Server :: Stream Content Located On One Machine, Using A Server On A Separate One?

Jun 12, 2009

I seem to recall reading somewhere (but for the life of me I can't find the article I was reading), that with Adobe FMS you could store content on one machine, and then run the actual server on a separate machine.  Is this correct? If so, how would you go about doing it?

Html :: SWF File Not Reliably Loading From Server

Oct 14, 2009

I have created an application using Adobe Flex. I took all the files from the 'bin-release' folder and put it on the server. Then when someone connected to the server through http it is forwarded to the "index.htm". The "index.htm" page is the HTML page created automagically by Adobe Flex during compile time, I just renamed it to that name (from visco.html if it matters). The SWF file remained the same.

The problem is that most of the time when I go to the server, I get forwarded to the "index.htm" file and it loads the SWF perfectly. The other 30% of the time, it doesnt load! The background of the page turns blue (same as my SWF) and if I right-click it, it shows an Adobe Flash dropdown, so it looks like its sort of loading, but the application doesnt fully start even though it has been 100% reliable during debugging and when loading the SWF file manually.

What do I need to do to get the SWF file to load and start reliably?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Force Loading Xml File From Server (not From Browser Cache)?

May 24, 2007

I make a swf for my site that includes dynamicly loading thumbnails from an xml file. Unfotunatly the browser ( IE and FF are what i have tried so far ) just takes the xml file from the clients browser cache even if i have changed the xml file on the server. So the only way my visitors will see my updated content, is if they clear their cache every time before they visit my site. ( even a ctrl-f5 does not seem to do the trick )

is there a function or something i can call to force the swf to re-download the xml file every time? (is really small, less that a kilobyte or two im sure.)

CS3 Loading New Pages From Separate .fla's

Jul 23, 2009

I am trying to do something pretty basic I think...I have attached a screenshot below of what the site looks like so far. What I want to do is always have the left hand side links showing on the site. I want to create a new .fla for projects and have that load on the window on the right when the projects link is clicked on. What I have done in the past is create the entire website within one .fla but that is getting too confusing. I assume some actionscript is required here which I am pretty useless with.

I need to load separate SWF files depending on different flash buttons being pressed. The problem is I see a flicker inbetween SWF's being played. I think the flicker is where it goes back one frame - but I do not know how to solve this.

The first bike should scroll along to the left then stop, buttons should then appear that allow you to load the external/separate SWF files.

Loading Several MovieClips Into Separate Variables?

Sep 22, 2010

I have several Movie Clips in the Library which I need to be able to load and bring up on the screen randomly.The code below shows how I can load one of these, but to get a proper control ideally I would like to load them all in to an array or numbered variables so that they can be called from a simple piece of code and actioned one at a time.

My movieclips can all be called something simple like mc1, mc2, mc3, mc4 etc to make things easier.These need to be referenced in to an array mcContainer[.....] or as mcContainer1, mcContainer2........ so that they can be called easily.I just need to know the simplest way to do this and how i reference them, I have tried several ways like ["mc"+i] etc and nothing seems to work.

Code:

var mc:mcLogo=new mcLogo();
addChild(mc);
