ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Txt File From Separate Server To SWF?
Sep 8, 2011
I believe I am using AS2, I have cobbled some script together from the internet and it seems to be mostly working, but there is one issue I have.Okay here goes with my explanation. I have an SWF that loads a random quote from a txt file which is located on the same server as the SWF file. The quote has an 'a href' tag around the text so that when clicked it will load a URL. - This is all working fine! Here is the problem:I would like to use the same SWF file on a separate server (server 2), that then calls the quotes from to the txt file on server 1. I have added the complete path to the txt file, but when i run the SWF on server 2, it gives me an error. Here is the script I am using in the FLA file.
I am currently wondering if it is possible to load a swf that is sitting on another file server. I.e. I currently have a custom play bar swf which is embedded on a website (behind the company's firewall) which then loads swf content (currently in the same folder on the website server). The problem I have is bandwidth between remote sites is limited and streaming the swf content from the website server is not an option, however we do have a DFS set up to push all the swf content out to local file servers.
I have tried using a file:// path which works if you create a windows projector file however it doesn't work when embedded onto a website as it seems to try to access via http which the file servers are not set up for. So is it possible to get the play bar swf to load the swf content sat on a remote file server?
My code doesn't work.I use flash 8 (AS 2.0). When I click a button, I want it to load another flash file but not into the same parent/web page. I need the file to load in it's own window. on (release) { loadMovie("MyAccountPage.swf", "_blank"); } After this, I still do not get a respond when I test run the script.
I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111) Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening: Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server starting... Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server started (/opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).
[Code]....
All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.
I seem to recall reading somewhere (but for the life of me I can't find the article I was reading), that with Adobe FMS you could store content on one machine, and then run the actual server on a separate machine. Is this correct? If so, how would you go about doing it?
I try to upload file from local system to web server.My application is desktop application and I work with php server.Find below my code
In flex
var dropfiles:Array = evt.clipboard.getData(ClipboardFormats.FILE_LIST_FORMAT) as Array; for each (var file:File in dropfiles){ var fileFormat:String = file.extension; var fileUrl:String = file.url;
[code]....
With those code message "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:" appear on flex.
I am using the load command to load content from a .txt file on my server. I have it all working just find when I preview the swf file in flash and when I view the .swf in my web browser from my server. The problem when I view the .swf file on my php page (home.php) I only get undefined variables, it seems to not be able to connect to the .txt files only when I am viewing it on my php page. Again if I view the .swf file on my server using my web browser it works fine.
Using Flash CS4 Actionscript 2 Dreamweaver CS4 Google Chrome and Opera
I have used LoadVars to load a srt file and manipulate its content successfully on my desktop computer. But when I post it on a real server, it can't be used.Here is my code. It seems that LoadVars cannot read an external file on real server or function parseCSV(raw) cannot work on real server.By the way, real server there I mean that this flash running on website [URL]
Code: //Display subtitle function loadSubtitle(subtitlePath){ startTimes1 = new Array();
I'm building an app that is interfacing with a database through PHP, but it looks like it's grabbing a chached version of the php page, which is giving it old data. How do I ensure that Flash loads the file fresh from the server and not from cache? I'm using URLLoader, andI've tried putting the question mark at the end of the URL (i.e. "questions_view.php?").
I have made a XMLloader with URLrequest, and it works locally by calling the file directly by its name ie. "myFile.swf". var presLoader:Loader = new Loader(); presLoader.load(new URLRequest("myFile.swf")); addChild(presLoader);
But when I uploaded the loader to the server, I have no file, only "URL not found"-error. So I found out that I should change to URL to "/Files/Images/subloader/myFile.swf" then it will load. But thats a real problem, because I have several loaders.
I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?
Is it possible to export text from a text field, which has been created in Flash and export it into an external file such as a text file or Word document?The idea is that information will be collected by the user into a text field within the swf. Hopefully, this information can then be exported into an external file which will allow the user to work on and edit at a later stage. It needs to be a separate editable document. Is this possible? I'm using Flash 8.
We use FMS 3.5 for streaming IPTV. We have a number of channels and currently our mp4 files are all held in the Media subdirectory, below vod
We want to divide them into separate channels for the the stations with their own subdirectories for organised filing but cannot see any way of doing this and then referencing the correct directory with the rtmp: via XML.
How to flush SharedObject in a separate thread? FMS is blocking the program during write, and to save more than 2,000SharedObject takes about 15 seconds.
I have more sites, sites have some users, and each user has separate application folder What I want is put application folder in a defined folder like following C:FMISsiteAapplicationsuser1 C:FMISsiteAapplicationsuser2 C:FMISsiteBapplicationsuser1 C:FMISsiteBapplicationsuser2 etc... I think for this I need to create virtual hosts.
i've been reading and searching all the related articles but still in the dard...i've 2 movies m1 and m2 - in m1 there are thumbnails and in m2 i need to open the zoomed view of appropriate thumbnail - both the movies are on same page but in different cells of a table.
I'm building a gallery on a website with lots of different size images. I've got all my buttons set out in one swf and placed on the page and I want to put a seperate swf on the page to display the images. The only problem is I can't work out the script to put on the button to open the image in the 2nd swf.
I am wondering why is there a seperate as file in a zip I downloaded? There are the files slider.as and slider.fla. There is only one frame in the fla file and I was wondering if I can combine the fla and as file to make it work, since I will be combining it with another file. This is the Slider.as file:
I'm new to AS & Flash, but not programming in general. I've got a project where I'm needing to use embedded fonts. To save the size of my main .swf, I've been using the Loader class to import .swf files with the fonts embedded at runtime. The "font library" .swf files contain just the embedded font, and in frame 1 have
I am currently working on a flash site that loads external .swf files. Is there a way to make these separate swfs transparent by adding code to the .html as done in many other similiar circumstances with one swf? Or is there any kind of code I can add with an as file or inside a frame in flash?
In my project I need to dynamically load (with an XML file) images (icons) into a flash cs3 file with as3. Every icon needs to have it's own URL. So far I succeeded in loading the icons into the file and adding the imageLoader an external link, but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to load every image into its own loader so that I can give it separate url references. I also want to a hover effect on the images.
- Is there a benefit to hosting FLV files on a Flash Media Server when they are under 2-3 minutes?I've been working on a couple different video projects as of late... some are simple web player with 30 second ads and others are working with longer videos like 2-3 minutes. I currently have an FLV hosting provider running Flash Media Server but with videos so small don't they download for the user as progressive anyway and there is no real benefit whether I am using my FLV host or my traditional web host?
i also use a separate video hosting company to handle my mobile videos mainly because I am a bit naive on how that works as well. I had a project with straight links to play video on mobile phones (with three different version served up based on OS). But it seems like most of those were progressive downloads as well.
I'm using the Niagara 4100 streaming appliance to encode a live multiple bitrate streams for an event. The problem is the Niagara encoder doesn't allow me to attach an event name to the stream url like - 'streamevent%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent', instead it only allows 'streamevent%i'. So in the end I get three seperate events with a stream for each event.
Like so: Example: /Events/streamevent1/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream /Events/streamevent2/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream /Events/streamevent3/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream AND /Streams/streamevent1/files /Streams/streamevent2/files /Streams/streamevent3/files
Is it possible to make it work this way without using the 'adbe-live-event' parameter using the .f4m manifest file?
I understand the Flash and AS3 is single-threaded, at least at the user level. I would like to understand how asynchronous data loading is handled by the Flash player.
For instance, if I run CPU-intensive code that runs beyond the normal frame (lets say it runs on ENTER_FRAME, and consumes 1/4 per call). Does this leave any CPU cycles to load data from a URLLoader?
If http loading is truly synchronous, right down to handling the TCP/IP stack, one would get horrible performance. In Windows programming, I can do http access asynchronously (in which case the Windows libraries are doing either input on a separate thread, or doing hardware-level interrupts to handle the data -- I provide an asynchronous callback that may be on its own thread). Or, I can do synchronous download, in which case there will be hardware buffering, but my application is actively waiting for each buffer of data to be delivered by the hardware/OS combination.
URLLoader is asynchronous, but what does that mean? Does it mean that I can run the CPU and still download data? Or, will my download speed slow to a crawl if my Flash application is under heavy CPU load? Understanding how this works will help me design my product better, which both uses a lot of CPU, and downloads a lot of data (to the bandwidth limit of the network, if possible).
I've seen this done on many sites (it even happens on here when attaching links), where the screen darkens and an image gallery or form loads.
My question is, can this be done through Flash, but more importantly how to load a swf file this way. I noticed that the new Nike Running site has done it for their login functionality, where it loads the login box on a darkend screen, not sure whether the actual login is Flash but it's opened from within Flash.
