i've been reading and searching all the related articles but still in the dard...i've 2 movies m1 and m2 - in m1 there are thumbnails and in m2 i need to open the zoomed view of appropriate thumbnail - both the movies are on same page but in different cells of a table.
I'm building a gallery on a website with lots of different size images. I've got all my buttons set out in one swf and placed on the page and I want to put a seperate swf on the page to display the images. The only problem is I can't work out the script to put on the button to open the image in the 2nd swf.
I've seen this done on many sites (it even happens on here when attaching links), where the screen darkens and an image gallery or form loads.
My question is, can this be done through Flash, but more importantly how to load a swf file this way. I noticed that the new Nike Running site has done it for their login functionality, where it loads the login box on a darkend screen, not sure whether the actual login is Flash but it's opened from within Flash.
i have two seperate movie clips on two seperate layers on the front page of my template. (loaded dynamically) the layers are on top of one another. the two movie clips work fine one their own on the template, but when i put them both on the template and I press their respective buttons the TOP movieclip's buttons control the BOTTOM movie clips actions. it's crazy. i've tried to move them around but then it's just the reversed - the bottom buttons control the top movieclip.
i am have big problems, im designing a login screen and it will require more than one user to be able to access differnt parts of the flash file. at the moment i am using IF statements.
[Code]...
there is no problem with this method but if a user wants to change there username how to change the script. the other thing is the flash file is being converted to a standalone .exe file so it's basically like a program. to get to the point I need to know if there is any way for the Actionscript to be able to read a .txt document so that when the username and password is changed in the .txt document flash will read it so when they enter the new username and password it will still allow them to access the files.
I'm trying to create a movie clip with images that will slide from one image to another using next and previous buttons. I want a sliding effect. For example on this site: [URL] The right side large image you can slide the image by using the arrows. That's exactly what I want...but in flash.
I am am not a developer but have bought a template which I am modifying to suit my needs. I have made most of the modifications but and stuck on how to change the animation for the image gallery. When I move from one picture to the next the animation effect is something like a bubble burst. This is too flamboyant for me. I would like to change it to something more sleek but have no clue where to start.
I'm now writing a simple socket application for my own learning purposes. It will be a really simple BlackJack application.I was thinking for ways to manage 52 different cards in my app. I could make those 52 cards, as 52 images and then, maybe load them into movieclips at runtime. Or, I could take one big image with all of the cards on it, and create a masked movieclip, and then, shift and slide the image's position, so that the correct graphic of the card shows.y question is: which way is faster? Will flash be better with handling 52 small images, lets say 20x40 (in reality, i will only load like 6 of them in the display list, since black jack almost never deals with huge amount of cards). Or would it be faster, if I had a big image with all the cards (~160x160 maybe) and just reused that with different masking, calculated on runtime?
I am trying to add a separate image in the background of a carousel...when a carousel image is clicked on, it moves back and the new image appears with it - but nothing loads in the new image. I thought this would be how to do it, but it's not working...what am I doing wrong? here is what it looks like so far: [URL]
I am a bit of a beginner to Flash and found a template online to use for my website. One issue I am having is that an image with a link is opening in the main window and I want it to open in a separate window. I am going to attach the code as it is now. Can someone tell me what I need to add or change to make the url link open in a separate window?

If you want to see the site and where the issue is, go to: http:[url]... and click on "main page" It is the "web" images that I am talking about. I really need them to open in a separate window when you click on the image. The action code is below:
I am loading some separate .swf image galleries in my main .fla; when you go to different sections the image galleries still stay there. How do I make them go away? When you click on the background it takes you to another spot on the timeline and the gallery should disappear, but it just stays there.
I am trying to adapt the gotoandlearn carousel to fit a dog rescue's needs and learn something in the process. What they want is for a 2nd image to load when the first is clicked on. (so it zooms up and a 2nd image loads that is also contained in the XML file).I was able to get the 2nd image's instance to appear and disappear properly, but I can't seem to get anything to load into it no matter what I do[URL]
I believe I am using AS2, I have cobbled some script together from the internet and it seems to be mostly working, but there is one issue I have.Okay here goes with my explanation. I have an SWF that loads a random quote from a txt file which is located on the same server as the SWF file. The quote has an 'a href' tag around the text so that when clicked it will load a URL. - This is all working fine! Here is the problem:I would like to use the same SWF file on a separate server (server 2), that then calls the quotes from to the txt file on server 1. I have added the complete path to the txt file, but when i run the SWF on server 2, it gives me an error. Here is the script I am using in the FLA file.
I am currently working on a flash site that loads external .swf files. Is there a way to make these separate swfs transparent by adding code to the .html as done in many other similiar circumstances with one swf? Or is there any kind of code I can add with an as file or inside a frame in flash?
In my project I need to dynamically load (with an XML file) images (icons) into a flash cs3 file with as3. Every icon needs to have it's own URL. So far I succeeded in loading the icons into the file and adding the imageLoader an external link, but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to load every image into its own loader so that I can give it separate url references. I also want to a hover effect on the images.
The desired affect is simple: I have a single button... with each click I want it to load text into a dynamic text field and load a corresponding picture or movieclip.There are only three unique text/image combinations- after its displayed the third, with the next click I want it to just start over. All the text functions perfectly with each click.
The problem is:I use "createEmptyMovieClip" then use the resulting clip as a loader clip.. With the first click I want a movieclip from the library to load, so I use the "attachMovie" method- it displays the first library fine.With the next click I want to load an external swf- so I call the "loadMovie" method of the loaderclip... The external swf loads just fine replacing the first library clip.The third clip is where I have problems... now I want to load another library item into the loaderclip... so I tried using the attachMovie method again but the external swf remains static... then with the next click, I discover the first library item no longer loads and the external swf remains still playing- it's like once it's been loaded into the loaderclip it cant be moved...
So I tried adding the "unloadMovie" method in the code for the third click.. it successfully removed the swf... but the next line of code immediately after the unload statement, doesn't work. The line calls the attachMovie method for the loaderclip... but the library item doesnt load... Oddly enough, with the next click, the first library item now does load as if everything's fine... It seems like you cant use the unloadMovie and attachMovie on the same executing code? if that makes any sense... the basic idea was that if I couldnt get the attachmovie method to replace the loaded external swf, then I would use the unload method to remove it, then have code immediately after, to then execute the attachMovie method... but it still doesnt load the library clip. and I know it's not a type-o, because when I comment out the loadMovie and unloadMovie statements, it loads both the library items perfectly ? The code is below
var increment:Number = 1; var verbiage1:String = "Hello World1"; var verbiage2:String = "Hello World2";[code].............
I'm having trouble figuring out how to get this image slideshow to have separate links for each picture. I've researched online and I can't seem to make sense of what I've found in relation to the code I have.
I am trying to change a version of the gotoandlearn carousel to add an additional image that appears along with the first image when it's clicked on. I can get the additional image movie clip to appear/disappear properly, and can get ONE image to pull from the XML file and appear in the movie clip. However, it's not pulling in all the photos - just the same one each time. Here is my XML file and action script code: ("the2nd" is the movie instance, "image2" holds the photos in the XML file that need to appear). Adding these lines either load the same image over and over, or all the images and the carousel stops. Can someone tell me how to get it to the correct photo from the XML file when the first photo is clicked on? What am I doing wrong?.
home.the2nd.loadMovie(nodes[i].attributes.image2);//this line alone works 1 pic the2nd = home.attachMovie("item","item"+i,i+1);//loads all pics but stops carousel
I am loading a scrolling image bar into a separate movie and it works great with the coding I have managed to piece together (since I am not an AS master) the problem I am having is that when the mouse moves out of the scrollbar area it is still controlling the motion from the rest of the movie it is imported into. I am pretty sure that it revolves around a _root.drag._y script command but since I am still learning scripting I am not sure of exactly how to code this....the scrollbar is 90pixels in height and I want the images to keep scrolling at +2 when the mouse leaves the designated area, just not to move with the mouse movement when moving around below the scrollbar.
mc = _root.drag._x if (mc>250and mc<360){ for (i=1; i<=nomc; i++) { mx = getProperty("/a" add i, _x); setProperty ("/a" add i, _x, mx+2); [Code] ..... [URL]
I understand the Flash and AS3 is single-threaded, at least at the user level. I would like to understand how asynchronous data loading is handled by the Flash player.
For instance, if I run CPU-intensive code that runs beyond the normal frame (lets say it runs on ENTER_FRAME, and consumes 1/4 per call). Does this leave any CPU cycles to load data from a URLLoader?
If http loading is truly synchronous, right down to handling the TCP/IP stack, one would get horrible performance. In Windows programming, I can do http access asynchronously (in which case the Windows libraries are doing either input on a separate thread, or doing hardware-level interrupts to handle the data -- I provide an asynchronous callback that may be on its own thread). Or, I can do synchronous download, in which case there will be hardware buffering, but my application is actively waiting for each buffer of data to be delivered by the hardware/OS combination.
URLLoader is asynchronous, but what does that mean? Does it mean that I can run the CPU and still download data? Or, will my download speed slow to a crawl if my Flash application is under heavy CPU load? Understanding how this works will help me design my product better, which both uses a lot of CPU, and downloads a lot of data (to the bandwidth limit of the network, if possible).
My code doesn't work.I use flash 8 (AS 2.0). When I click a button, I want it to load another flash file but not into the same parent/web page. I need the file to load in it's own window. on (release) { loadMovie("MyAccountPage.swf", "_blank"); } After this, I still do not get a respond when I test run the script.

i have a fla file in Flash 8 that i use for content center...and i'm trying to load a swf (some photo and text AS3) into it... but it just doesnt want to work... i have tried loadmovie, loadmovienum, none seems to work, the swf file is just not working the content file is working, its the preview.swf that is not,
In my project I used main document file, which could load multiple nested animations as a separate files. In the main document I had a global function, for example:
_global.onAnimationEnd(mc:MovieClip){...}
and in animations (could be nested) I just called it like:
