I am loading a MovieClip using MovieClipLoader. When the MovieClip starts playing, it changes the alignment of my stage to LT, which incorrectly repositions all the other objects on my stage.
Is there anyway for me to:
Prevent the MovieClip from changing the alignment of my stage? Adding an event handler to an appropriate event, so that I can reset the stage alignment when it gets changed?
I have already tried resetting the stage alignment on the onLoadInit event of MovieClipLoader and the onEnterFrame event of MovieClip, but both seem to reset the alignment too soon.
I am trying to centre my flash site I have used the following code: stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; stage.align = StageAlign.TOP; My first scene which is a intro clip, containing motion tweens of text, works fine but when I click enter and get to my site as soon as I move the resizer on my browser my stage jumps far off the page and I can only see the bottom of it.
I've ceated 18 buttons 1-18 on two rows and using the alignment tool made then all gapped the same and in line etc. I now want to centre the two rows of buttons on the stage. I've shift clicked to select all the buttons but no matter what option I pick in window alignment I can't get it to work.
im creating an xml image gallery and its going well, but for some reason when i add the loaded image to the stage even though i've specified it to go to the center of the stage it doesn't, and won't center until I resize the stage
I was wondering how "relative alignment" such as on the easybit-site (take the window and resize it) is done? All objects on the stage are positioned always relative to the actual window-size without losing quality, but how???
what i'm referring to is the way in which the thumbs and menu items stay at the bottom & top no matter what size the window is resized to.. and the its only the big images that are resized...
I need a way to have an attached mc stay aligned with another mc that rotates (for AS 2.0). More specifically, I have a spaceship with several turrets that shoot at intervals, the problem comes when the spaceship rotates; how do I get the bullets (or whatever you want to call them) to appear at the correct x and y values when the spaceship rotates when the ship itself is asymetrical and has a registration point at its tip?
On the stage I have a movieclip called mc_back. I also have a movieclip on the stage called mc_content. Now, inside mc_content I have a bunch of code and some of it adds, or should add, an EventListener to mc_back as well as a a function that works when mc_back is pressed.
So basically, all code is written inside mc_content and some of it needs to interact with mc_back.
how to target mc_back from inside mc_content. Using stage.mc_back or root.mc_back doesn't work and Google should be my friend, but in this particular problem, it's acting more like my enemy.

I am new to Flash so this may be a basic question, but I have not been able to find anything in the help files or the forums. I have tried several times to change the size of my quicktime movies, from 550 pixels by 400 pixels to 480 pixels by 480 pixels, and I cannot seem to do it. I have used "Modify > Document" and tried every option I could find through this command. Each time I export I double check that the export settings match my desired size, and they do, but when I open the movie in quicktime, it has been stretched to fit 550 x 400 pixels. The preview movie looks exactl how I want, it is only the exported movie that is incorrect. Is it possible to make a quicktime movie of the size I would like, or is that a standard format that cannot be adjusted?
As a workaround, I have tried squeezing my 480x480 content into the 550x400 stage (while scaling it prportionally). but when I do this, the square of content is not centered in the background in quicktime. It is off center in the preview movie as well, and this commonly occurs after I have used "modify > document" to change the size of the document. The side to which it is aligned seems to be inconsistent. Is there a way to realign the video after I have modified the document size? Does changing the document size through "modify > document" affect the centering and alignment of my video? Is there a way to change it back?
I have a Movieclip on stage with nested movieclips inside. All referenced at 0,0. None of the child movieclips load any dynamic content, animate or have Masked Layers. It does have an input textfield in one of the child MCs. The parent MC shows 280 px width, while it returns 313 px with a .width trace. There is no code that alters the .width value of the parent MC at run-time. And the ParentMC on stage is not scaled (it is at 100% width/height)
I am getting a little fustrated with trying to remove a MovieClip from my stage after I am done with it. On loading my frame, I have a little bit of code in a function that creates a piechart.
var piechart:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); stage.addChild(piechart); //Then a bunch more to draw the pie chart
So that bit of code is NOT on my "Actions" layer. Now I have a button on this frame that navigates to a different frame in the timeline but when I change frames, the piechart remaines. So, how do I remove this piechart from the stage after I am done with it? I have tries stage.removeChild(...) and others but perhapse I am calling it wrong?

How do you make a movieclip move horizontally from the start of the stage to 3/4 of the stage. Stage size is 700 px by 600 px i want just one row in the middle of the stage. i want that movieclip to disappear right after it reach the end of the 3/4 mark.
My Flash file contains a movie-clip(Box1) that is exported for Action-script but it is not exported to Frame 1 in Linkage Dialog Box. Box1 has been put on frame-40 and the object is accessible in document Class but is not added to stage. However when it reaches to Frame 40, the object at Frame 40 get visible. My question is where is boxObj??

I have a "box_mc" movieclip on the root of my stage and I need to select it from within my Document Class. I thought Stage.getChildByName("box_mc") would work, but it just returns null.
I have a MovieClip that I want the user to be able to drag inside the stage, but I don't want it to be able to move outside the stage. Currently I'm using this._parent.startDrag(); to allow the MC to be dragged, but I don't know how to stop it from being dragged outside the frame.
