Jan 9, 2011I am using rails for my backend to a Flash app. I need to send a bunch of params to rails from flash using post. I have a rails action in my users_controller called register.[code]The error I am getting in Flash is an IO_ERROR Streaming Event bla bla bla witch usually indicates that the URL you are calling does not exist. If I change the request.method to GET then the call works but not all the data gets sent to rails because GET can't handle the length of the data being sent.

May 20, 2010i get this error when i retrieve an XML that only has 1 node (no repeating nodes) and i try to store in an ArrayCollection. -When I have MORE than 1 "name" nodes...i do NOT get an error. My test show that XMLListCollection does NOT work either.
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "XXXXXX" to mx.collections.ArrayCollection.
this error occurs as the line of code:
myList= e.result.list.name;
Why can't ArrayCollection work with a single node? I'm using this ArrayCollection as a dataprovider for a Component -is there an alternative I can use that will take BOTH single and repeating nodes as well as work as a dataprovider?

Mar 17, 2011I'm building a Flash video player that uses the new StageVideo API. StageVideo requires window mode (wmode) to be set to "direct". Unfortunately, setting wmode to direct prevents the express install dialog from popping up if a user has a version of Flash Player older than 10.2.How can I set my wmode to direct to get StageVideo to work but also ensure the Express Installer pops up for users with older Flash Players?

I had added a new function just before this error started appearing, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the embedding and the problem still happens after I comment out everything I added before the error.

A blank white space appears where it should be, and when you right click it says "Movie not loaded...". Feb 18, 2010I have a RSS feed parsed into one text box and am using imported CSS to format the text in one Textfield that was created with as3.Problem is my roll over and click handler functions for making each text variable a link to the XML URL link will not work unless I point the function at the entire text field. I just want the individual text variables made from the RSS Title nodes, to be set to react to my handleFHTClicked, rollOutHandler and ollOverHandler functions. The movie runs Ok parsing the nodes and picking up the CSS, but I get this error in the output window when it reaches the aformentioned functions..

Flash - Get Flashvars In Firefox Using Object Embed Tag Only To Work?
May 11, 2010I am trying to generate an <object> tag only embed code and cannot get Firefox to pass Flash along the FlashVars values. This seems to work everyplace else that I've tried it but fails in Firefox. Here is a sample of the embed that I'm using:

Then it works on Firefox and Chrome (the AS function is called and works properly) - (it doesn't work in IE though). How come it doesn't work with an object tag? How "safe" it is to use the embed tag instead of the object tag? Is it not obsolete? Note, that it is definitely not a timing issue - If I call the AS function from JS from an onclick function - then the results are the same.

(when we access to HTML source code we can view an HTML code differente from <object> and <embed> tags).
But we also tried to call the web page through wget (from command line) and we saw that the HTML source code that we receive is ALREADY replaced.When and from who the <object> <embed> code is replaced ?From javascript (runned by browser) or before ?

Nov 24, 2009I am making a dynamic banner system which can handle img banners, as well as flash banners done with object/embed. The entire site makes heavy use of jQuery, including handling the 'click' events.
This obviously isn't a problem when it comes to tracking the clicks on the image itself (i track the click on the parent DIV tag. However, it fails when the advert is an SWF, as I suspected it would.Is there a jQuery workaround that would allow me to capture a click on a Flash element with the DOM?

Feb 28, 2011i am wanting to know how much I can be sure that users of my website will not be able to pass bogus variables to my Flash movie. Basically I will have some features available to certain users and I realise that for the average user they will not know anything about how to send spoof vars but is it possible for someone to change the variables sent using SWFObject when a page loads and thus be able to use the functionality that I am trying to disable for them.I have a PHP (my_flash_movie.php) page that calls a function from an included globals.php file to determine if the user can see the restricted functionality is_ user_a_subscriber($_SESSION['user_id']); which returns 1 or 0. This 1 or 0 is then passed to Flash which enables or disables certain features. I dont want someone to be able to send a 1 instead of a 0 basically. This isnt a site where security is critical and the functionality that is disabled is not really critical either so wouldnt be too bad if this happened but im just curious about this and wondering if I should think of another way to pass these vars that might be more hidden.
