I'm building a Flash video player that uses the new StageVideo API. StageVideo requires window mode (wmode) to be set to "direct". Unfortunately, setting wmode to direct prevents the express install dialog from popping up if a user has a version of Flash Player older than 10.2.How can I set my wmode to direct to get StageVideo to work but also ensure the Express Installer pops up for users with older Flash Players?
View 2 RepliesI'm working with SWFObject 2.2 using the expressInstall.swf that comes with the package.I understand that the swf is loading in another swf from an adobe server which is the actual express install.My problem is that when it loads, it loads at a larger dimension than I can handle and causes my flash to wrap onto another line and makes the site terribly ugly.how to prevent the dimensions from growing once the express install is loaded?(btw, no matter what dimension I change the expressInstall.swf to, it always becomes something bigger than I can have on the screen)

EDIT: According to Adobe employee words there is bug, which not allow flash player to open security settings dialog, therefore camera is muted by default.
Has anyone encountered weirdness with Firefox/Vista and wmode setting of transparent? It is the strangest thing, when I turn on wmode of transparent, my swf breaks! The actual swf acts as though the AS3 is broken (everything fails, buttons stop working, external assets do not load)... But when I turn off wmode of transparent then everything works fine.I have tried using a coulple different embed techiniques (one being swfobject) and both fail when using wmode of transparent, and only in FF/vista.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to place html elements over a flash video which must be rendered with wmode="direct" (video occupies entire window with html UI to be laid over it, anything other than direct makes CPU usage surge).
I've tried using an iframe to include the flash video, but I'm still unable to place any elements over it. Is there a workaround to achieve this?

The issue is that when I use this code with wmode=transparent or wmode=opaque the MOUSE_LEAVE event is not detected when the MOUSE_UP event occurs off the stage. Is there a way to detect the MOUSE_LEAVE event when wmode is transparent or opaque? OR Is there a way to detect that the wmode is set to transparent or opaque so that a work-around may be implemented?

I've created a movieclip spawner class and animator class which animate movieclips along a set of x,y points.I've used Greensock's TweenMax to accomplish the animation and I have set the speed to be 1 second between each point. The issue is that when the distance between two points is small it looks too slow.
What I would like to do is somehow calculate the distance between the two points and output a speed in the range of 0 to 1 seconds so that the speed is to be correct for the shorter distances as well as the longer distances.
I have a line which is stage.stageWidth long.Now i need in enter frame to shorten this line (like an reverse preloader, but its not a preloader) so that in given time value its length becomes 0.so from stage.stageWidth to 0 in given time.

How do I enforce Flash's wmode=window on Mac? This mode should make Flash reside on a layer higher than normal HTML elements and have better performance. It's working fine on Windows. On Mac, there's strange results. Chrome on Mac will allow HTML elements to cover only non-video elements in Flash. On the other hand, Firefox on Mac will let HTML elements cover anything in Flash. I don't want to allow any HTML elements to cover anything in Flash on Mac.

When setting wmode to "opaque" (or transparent) my flash app becomes slow on Facebook. I can particularly notice it when moving the mouse around (even on a tiny area of the screen), if I don't move the mouse then the slowdown doesn't seem to happen. Maybe its because its sending all events to facebook too?
View 1 RepliesI have a html/flex app loaded in an iframe, and wmode is set to 'opaque'. I have 'mousemove' listener attached to the document of flex app and document of the parent. Once I mousedown in the flex part of iframe and move my mouse around, i can see the logs from the iframe. However, when I move the mouse around in the parent, i dont see logs from the parent. But, if I mousedown on the html part of the iframe, i can see logs from both iframe and parent. Same sort of bug is reported in Firefox 4/5, which breaks html part of it. Visit [URL]
