Flash :: Open Swf File Than Works With Socket
Oct 3, 2011
I have a .fla file, that works with Socket class. There is a server(written in Delphi XE, but it does not matter). I connect to it from my .fla. When i execute my .fla from within Flash Professional CS5 everything works fine. But when i tried to execute resulting .swf from Explorer(Win 7, Flash Player 10) i got an error:
SecurityError: Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not
permitted to use sockets. at flash.net::Socket/internalConnect() at
flash.net::Socket/connect() at payterminal::TLogger() at
[Code].....
After all this, my .swf is still open in Flash Player with no errors, but the socket connection is not happening. I tried different crossdomain-files, but all my attempts led me to same result.

I have a socket server listening on 2 ports, 1 port for the socket server and 1 port for the policy server. My code is below, in this scenario, data is sent and received perfectly fine. however, for example if I add a button with a simple:
socket.writeUTFBytes("Message");
socket.flush();
after the initial connection, it doesn't seem to send any data to my server (I have my server printing all data transmissions to the console for checking) Initial connections work fine, as seen below:

I'm using Flash MX, AS 2, Projector 6, working on a PC. I saved two versions of my project -- one .exe for Windows and one .hqx for Mac. The .exe works fine when burned onto a CD. When opening the .hqx from a CD on a Mac, I got a message that the file is on a locked volume. I discovered that the reason for this is that an .hqx is essentially a zipped file which has to be extracted, and when a file is extracted, the unzipped files are written onto the same location as the original. When the original files are on a CD, Stuffit (Mac's zip extractor program) can't write onto that location. [So if anyone at Adobe looks at these forum posts, let me say that I think its absolutely ridiculous that the Mac version of Flash's projector files have to be extracted in order to be viewed!]
To get around this problem, I saved the .hqx on my PC, put it on a portable hard drive and brought it over to a Mac (because Stuffit for PC converts it into an .exe for PC), and unzipped it. When I'd test it on the portable hard drive or on a USB drive, the extracted file would work. When I'd bring it back over to the PC and burn a CD with both versions on it, and then test that CD on the Mac, it wouldn't work.

I have moved on now to where this is clearly a Flash security thing.I have a flash client that attempts to connect to an open socket on the same host as the one on which it lives.I am able to connect successfully from inside the Flash IDE, and when I run the swf movie locally on my machine, after granting it security clearance in the white list it connects as well. However, when I call the movie via the browser (URL...) it fails to connect.The socket reports that a connection attempt is made but immediately disconnects.I have a crossdomain policy file that looks like this: in the root directory of the host.[code]In the flash movie I have a line that looks like this: System. security. loadPolicyFile (URL...);And I'm thinking maybe that's where the problem is, but the documentation on how to use this method is not entirely clear. I'm in Flash CS3

I could succesfully open a external pdf with the following command in Flash cs3 on a Mac: fscommand("exec", "test.app");test.app (inside an fscommand folder) is an apple script that opens the pdf inside the fscommand folder, to make it work I needed to copy the fscommand folder into the MacOs Folder of the Mac Projector File. The same steps don't seem to work with Flash cs5. I can't downgrade my cs5 project to cs3.Is this problem a bug in Flash cs5?

I wrote a Flash AS 3.0 Preview .fla & .as files that establishes a connection with a C++ server app via an XML Socket. Everything works great when I start the .swf file within Flash 9 Public Alpha by pressing [CTRL]+[ENTER]. But if I close the exported .swf file, and immediately open the file with the standalone Windows Flash 9 Player (I tried it with the player that comes with the Alpha preview and the brand new Player released on Oct 4 on Adobe Labs), no connection to the server is established.

I made sure the playback security was set to network only on the publish settings menu. I have another program that connects to the same server without a problem, so I don't think it's a cross-domain policy file problem.

It rarely happened, I use a flash in exe type to access url in local server. It usually success to access the url. When it fail to access the url, open the ie to access the browser. the url works. After using browser, flash success to access the url. The url would return the JSON content. I use URLLoader to load url, and the return error is no responding when it happen.
If the error happen, it would not access the url even restart the computer.

I have a group of buttons that open a MC similar to opening a new window. Each "new window" has a close button that closes that window and goes back to the main window (the main timeline). The trouble is, the buttons to open the new window only work once. For example, if you click on "The Founders" the window opens then you click "close window" and "The Founders" button no longer works unless you refresh the page. I think it has something to do with the way I've coded the close button, but I'm not sure what exactly.[code]

I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

I am trying to customize a video player skin from f4player [URL] [the file is mySkin.fla]). I am using flash cs3 pro and I get the error "Unexpected file format" when trying to open the file, a friend has flash cs4 and has the same error. Is there something I could do to open this .fla file correctly? Or maybe if someone could try opening it and saving it again for cs3?

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I've created a flash project that works fine on my computer locally. When I take it to another computer(I've tried 3-4), my keyboard events are not working. I used Actionscript 3 to create the file. I've checked to see that the other computers had the latest version of Flash player, but it's still not working on those computers. Does anyone know why my file may not be working? Is there a specific plugin/download I need to have to make my files work?

However the file name is constant. how can i use flash to stream this live jpeg and make it appear like a streaming movie. I don't know how to go about this at all.

How to get a AS3 file to open that won't open no matter what I try?
I was attempting to trouble-shoot some output errors I was getting while testing my movie. At one point, I had the bright idea of changing the name of the file's root folder. Once I did that, my file couldn't recognize its "home", understandably.

I have 2 applications which I wrote in ActionScript 3.0 as client and C#.net as server. These are basic chat applications. Also I have a test website which is running under the same machine with chat server application.
Server application is listening 289 port, flash application connecting to server with domain and 289 port, it can talk with server during working on Flash. But when I put the flash in a html page, the socket connection is breaking after a while because of security reasons.
I know that is necessary to put a crossdomain.xml file on target website's root folder. The problem is here: Yes, there is a crossdomain.xml file like this:[URL]...

I've got a 9MB fla file that suddenly doesn't open any more. When I try to open it, it crashes Flash. When I try to open it as a library, it crashes Flash. Someone told me a library object might be corrupted - not good, irreparable. I'm on a Mac and when I try opening the fla file it gives me an "error type 2 occurred." I imported the swf file into a new Flash file, but now it's just a one-layer straight-streaming movie with every frame a completely new, redrawn keyframe. Is there any way to resurrect the original fla file? I've got a Sunday deadline?

I created an FLA file through Adobe Flash CS4. My problem is, I compressed the file as a .sitx and put it on my server, so that I can use it on another machine. However, on a different machine, using the same version of Flash, it will not open. Flash says:
Failed to open document (FIle Path)
The SWF file can be opened through Flash, just not the FLA.
