I have been searching on how to do this but I haven't found anything that I can use yet. I have a flash template that has about 6 different flash files. There is a menu on the right side that allows you to call the other files like this.

I have a program that plays an FLV using netStream and has cue points embedded which trigger the loading of external graphics. If the code for loading the external graphics is commented out the video plays normally. However, if the code to load the external graphics is left in, each time a graphic is loaded the video appears to stop and start. FYI, I built the program using a FLVplayback instance on stage and there is no glitch when the images load, but I have a lot of other things built using the nestStream class so I'd prefer to do it that way.

View 7 RepliesWeirdness today while trying to get Flash to load some external content (PHP, XML and images). It works fine in everything except Firefox on a PC (Even in IE! What a world! But I digress...). I've got a SWF that loads an external PHP file, along with an external XML file, which in turn references external images to be loaded. When I look at the Net panel in Firebug, it's showing that the SWF is loading, but none of the other external files are getting pulled. Anybody know why? I have a button on the main timeline. I would like to move the main timeline to a frame label called "history" and load and play a movie clip called "slideshow1".
I have the "gotoAndPlay" code working properly but can't seem to get the external swf "slideshow1" to load and play.

So I know how to load external images via XML, but don't know how to make it so that it can load both movies and images. Right now I can just load images such as .jpg, .gif, and .png.I want to also be able to load movies such as .swf (.avi would be cool if possible but if not, its not a big deal).So basically how do I change the below code so I can also load a movie if I wanted to, instead of the image.Here is my code:

My project has about 400 independent files. It was originally created in AS2 using the following script.

This same script is used every time I need to load the following .swf movie.I would like to use a similar (equivalent) script using AS3. (Please note that the objective is not to load dynamic content into a particular file as when creating a "Gallery". My objective is for the new loaded movie to applear in its own screen. At the same time the file on scree shall unload completely or disappear.
I am working on a flash project (menu and a few pages) which will be run from a localhost and will load images as well as data from a mySQL tables (Wordpress in fact). As a result each piece of content loads relatively fast, however since I have several things to load on a page, the flash freezes for a second. The general idea is to show a nice short animation at that point to mask the loading and then show the fully loaded page, but the loading causes lag to the entire flash movie, including said animation. Presentation is important for this project but I'm a bit new to AS3 and can't find a working solution. Is there a way to make different movieclips to load their content and do their things independently at lower priority than actions outside of them, so that the global animation goes uninterrupted while the movie clip with the page loads its content.

basically, i want it when somone goes to the site, the while site opens, there are transition effects, and three different movies open at three different spots on the site...just like it happens at www.void.com when you enter their site, they got the main window, and the botton right and left windows!
I have an application swf that loads a big external swf with all GUI components/assets (skin) in it.I want to display a progress bar during loading of the external asset swf file but the images for the progress bar are also included in the external swf file.Is it possible to load only a portion of the external swf before loading the rest. The idea is to load the progress bar images from the external swf, then construct the progress bar and than load the rest of the swf. I was thinking to put it on different frames. Frame 1 containing the progress bar graphics and frame 2 the rest of the assets.
View 3 RepliesI've devised a preloader using the ui loader and progress bar components in flash cs3. The goal being to load an external .swf into the uiloader and that has been achieved. I'm having problems with the scaling now. In my code I have set the content scaling to "true" and that isn't supposed to cause distortion of any type but it does. It squishes my external .swf in width wise.

I'm having a "problem" with loading an external .swf in my main flash swf movie (which is a website). When the external .swf loads and displays itself on the main swf (website), the complete external swf file is viewable. To clarify: this external .swf has a world map that moves with a tween. If the animation is played within the main swf, I can see the whole world map and not just only that specific part of the world map that is visible on the "original" .swf

dim background content after loading an external swf into main swf. I was told that a dark movie clip placed over the whole site but under the external swf with alpha set to 50% would work. I need the background content to dim when the external swf is loaded and then go back to normal when exiting that page link. View 1 RepliesUsing CS 5.5, I am using a single scene with buttons that all appear on the first frame along with code snippet AS also on the first frame that when clicked, takes the user to a different frame. Everything seems to work fine, except, after you go to frame 15 and click on one of the buttons that take you to one of the earlier frames, the text from frame 15 still displays on those earlier frames. The text on frame 15 is on a different layer and does not exist anywhere else until frame 15.
View 3 RepliesIf I have an HTML splash page that has a embedded SWF consisting of a preloader (for itself) at the start of its timeline, then a 5 second hold (no new Flash material), and then have a number of images on HTML page in a <div style="display:none;visiblity:hidden;">, all set with sizes of 1x1:2) Does the SWF get priority with the download, or are both the SWF and images given the same download priority?3) How would I preload (on the splash page) a second SWF that is used in the inner page? Would I embed it as usual, but use the CSS display:none, and set the size as 1x1, as I do with images?
4) Is there a better way to preload the SWF, where the main (splash) SWF actually loops while it downloads the second swf? Would I be loading that second SWF into the splash SWF on a different document level? What ActionScript commands would I use for that? loadMovieNum()? Would I put the incoming second SWF off stage, or set its visibility to hidden?I figured I'd preload some of the interface/common graphics for the inner HTML page that the visitor is brought to after the initial Flash splash page. Even without a preloader that would loop until all the content is loaded, I figured I could just have the splash page hold for a bit, and give the hidden <div> images a chance to load in the background. Obviously, using that method wouldn't guarantee that all the imags load, since it's unmonitored, but would at least give them a bit of a head start

try to localize the pages though (so that a Salesperson can have a CD full of demos), none of them seem to work.Is this an over-sensitive Flash security issue? We already have allowscriptaccess='always' and swliveconnect=true in the object/embed tags.
What can we do that doesn't require changes on each individual machine to set trust paths or any other kind of browser configuration? Not only do we want to have this content working on the machine of a salesperson, we may get clients that want to deploy content offline (kiosks, machines without any network access).
i am loading all thumbs and images in a container on a single frame using action script..but the size of the swf becomes 1.2 mb so i want to add a loader to it...the loader i am trying to add counts the frames but my file has just one frame so the loader doesnot show up..

Underneath the loaders on the label "white" I have to buttons, next and prev. I want to, when I press them, to go to the next frame of the loaded swf. I've got 6 diff ones. (myloader1-myloader6).
I have two flash files, say a.swf and b.swf.a.swf is the main swf file, embedded in an HTML page for a webpage. There is a preloader in a.swf too. In b.swf, when I click a specific button I need to load a.swf, but not from the preloader, from the content. To be precise, the content starts from Frame 24 of a.swf (obviously Preloader ends in Frame 23). I believe, the frame 24 has to be loaded in a.swf when I click the button in b.swf.
