Is there a way to immediately terminate the loading on an external swf and the loading of that external swf's dynamic content? I've tried the code below in the parent swf, but no success. The external swf's dynamic content continues to load.

how to load external swfs into the an MC content box using movies with embedded buttons?the problem i'm running into is this: i have animated buttons within movie clips. i also have a main_content MC in my scene into which i'm trying to load background images from another file. this other file has 3 frames, each with a different image.i don't know what the action script would be for a movie/button to load my external swf frames into the main_content MC.
View 1 RepliesThis is really weird and I have no idea what could be causing this.I have this simple Flash site:
http:[url]....The main interface is loaded, and then it starts to preload a few external JPG images.The problem is that with IE it is taking about FOUR times (or even more) the time to load the same pictures with FF. In a slow connection such as a 128K the main interface takes the same time to load either on FF aswel IE - about 5-10 seconds. Then, it starts loading the external pictures - in FF it will take about 20 seconds more and in IE it will take about 80 seconds more. It is clear to me that the problem is not in the site loading itself, but in the contents loading. I can't see what in the browser could be interfering in the SWF, unless that the IE Flash plugin have some known (or unknown!) bug regarding to MovieClipLoader!
The only thing I can have in mind, is that I am not terminating the listeners in the onLoadComplete events, so theoretically they would be keeping the CPU busy even after the pictures finish to load (I spawn about 30 listeners, one for each picture). However, I doubt that this is the reason or else it would make FF slow down too, indeed? Also I noticed that when running the application in the authoring environment (control+ENTER) but loading contents from remote server, it have the same behavior as when loaded within IE (slow loading).
I need to create a movie that will look into some directories and display the images he founds there (or text).

Right now I can just load images such as .jpg, .gif, and .png.I want to also be able to load movies such as .swf (.avi would be cool if possible but if not, its not a big deal).So basically how do I change the below code so I can also load a movie if I wanted to, instead of the image.Here is my code:

I have been working on a file for a while now and I am trying to load an external swf into a scrollpane. The external swf gets all its content from an xml file (there is nothing on the stage, it's all done through as3) My problem is that when I load the swf into the scrollpane I don't get the scroll bars and most of my content is cut off. I have tried setting the scroll policy to auto, and true, neither helped. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

This same script is used every time I need to load the following .swf movie.I would like to use a similar (equivalent) script using AS3. (Please note that the objective is not to load dynamic content into a particular file as when creating a "Gallery". My objective is for the new loaded movie to applear in its own screen. At the same time the file on scree shall unload completely or disappear.
I am working on a flash project (menu and a few pages) which will be run from a localhost and will load images as well as data from a mySQL tables (Wordpress in fact). As a result each piece of content loads relatively fast, however since I have several things to load on a page, the flash freezes for a second. The general idea is to show a nice short animation at that point to mask the loading and then show the fully loaded page, but the loading causes lag to the entire flash movie, including said animation. Presentation is important for this project but I'm a bit new to AS3 and can't find a working solution. Is there a way to make different movieclips to load their content and do their things independently at lower priority than actions outside of them, so that the global animation goes uninterrupted while the movie clip with the page loads its content.

[URL]..the opening squence i suppose it's all just movie tweens between files, but how is this thing done, when you click a button, the middle screen/part of the site, has a transition effect, loads, and there is a new page! i know how to do the transitions, and the loading bar, but how do i exactly tell my button, where to load an external movie file!...
basically, i want it when somone goes to the site, the while site opens, there are transition effects, and three different movies open at three different spots on the site...just like it happens at www.void.com when you enter their site, they got the main window, and the botton right and left windows!
The images are uploaded with an html form onto the server and their path names are loaded into a .txt file for my flash AS to use.The problem I am having seems to be either server lag or browser issues (catching perhaps?).I manage my content via the CMS and once returning to the flash movie it is either old content, half working or just doesn't work, period.What is interesting is that once I locate the text file and view/refresh it manually, it works 100% fine. Now, it's obviously not a very useful set up if I have to manually refresh my txt files so is there a way, (php?, Java? etc?) to refresh these files?
View 5 Repliesit is masking some dynamic content that is brought in through an external swf. there is a dynamic text field and also a picture loader. whenever either one of these changes, the mask gets all distorted with holes/lighter areas in it.
View 1 RepliesI have a program that plays an FLV using netStream and has cue points embedded which trigger the loading of external graphics. If the code for loading the external graphics is commented out the video plays normally. However, if the code to load the external graphics is left in, each time a graphic is loaded the video appears to stop and start. FYI, I built the program using a FLVplayback instance on stage and there is no glitch when the images load, but I have a lot of other things built using the nestStream class so I'd prefer to do it that way.

I've devised a preloader using the ui loader and progress bar components in flash cs3. The goal being to load an external .swf into the uiloader and that has been achieved. I'm having problems with the scaling now. In my code I have set the content scaling to "true" and that isn't supposed to cause distortion of any type but it does. It squishes my external .swf in width wise.

View 3 RepliesWeirdness today while trying to get Flash to load some external content (PHP, XML and images). It works fine in everything except Firefox on a PC (Even in IE! What a world! But I digress...). I've got a SWF that loads an external PHP file, along with an external XML file, which in turn references external images to be loaded. When I look at the Net panel in Firebug, it's showing that the SWF is loading, but none of the other external files are getting pulled. Anybody know why? I'm having a "problem" with loading an external .swf in my main flash swf movie (which is a website). When the external .swf loads and displays itself on the main swf (website), the complete external swf file is viewable. To clarify: this external .swf has a world map that moves with a tween. If the animation is played within the main swf, I can see the whole world map and not just only that specific part of the world map that is visible on the "original" .swf
Make a mask over the complete external.swf? Where should i make the mask in the external .swf itself or on the movieclip in my main swf (website)?
I am building a long timeline (50-100 entries) dynamically from XML. An entry can have either text or image or both. They all have the same distance from each other but they have different widths. there will be a slider at the bottom to quickly bring the user from one end of the timeline to the other end.
It's an interface that's similar to the aiga design archives. [URL]
The main difficulty I see is to dynamically load content that is currently visible first and content that is 'offscreen' later (or even unloading it if it enhances performance, does it?) I could try to figure out the math... but I know from experience that I get major headaches from such undertakings...
The second difficult task will be to determine the width of all entries before displaying them.. Is there a way in as3 to find out how wide an image is before completely loading it? Hmm that sounds a little unrealistic, but I thought I'd ask anyway
I am looking for an as3 class or library that could assist me in building this, mainly detecting if an entry is visible or not, or even better which entries are visible or not. Has anyone seen any as3 libraries related to such an interface?
dim background content after loading an external swf into main swf. I was told that a dark movie clip placed over the whole site but under the external swf with alpha set to 50% would work. I need the background content to dim when the external swf is loaded and then go back to normal when exiting that page link. When the movie plays, the cursor shows that there is text where it is supposed to be, but I do not see any text. I don't see an option to attach a file, otherwise I would.

How I can load an external .txt document into a designated dynamic text box in my flash document. I've tried the two tutorials I could find on flashkit.com and neither of them worked for me. I did everything as told and still the text file didn't load. When I enter the actionscript into the editor, I'll click check syntax and I get an error!
Here's the code I have in the first frame of my actions layer:

View 1 Replieshow it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.
View 2 RepliesI've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:
1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing.
2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does.
3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.
