i want to trace(0x285D6C); or something. but i don't want it to be converted to decimals in the trace. how do i do this?
View 2 Repliesi suspect the answer here is "no", but i'm wondering if it's possible to set the color of trace statements which appear in flex's console pane. ie, i have a few "levels" of log statements, and i'd like the warnings and errors to really stand out.
View 2 RepliesI am having a color array with values like 0x2EFE2E, 0xFFFF00, etc. but when i am trying to trace the values in the array, it prints something else like 95455. I think these are some converted values. But i tried using parseInt(val, 16), uint(val). None of these works. Basically, i just want to take values from this array and assign it to particleColor (a uint) and use like this:

I want to know the index number of the object when I clicked it..
trace(mc.getChildAt(0)) = display the object at the index 0 lets say the output is [object] button
now I want to reverse it..
when i click the object button
button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick)
function onClick(e:MouseEvent)
{
[Code]....
The Action script code below takes the strings in the array (pgtit) and creates a dynamic navigation bar I am trying to trace the index number of the array being click I just seem to get -1.
var pgtit:Array=["link1","link2","link3","link4"];
var xPos = 0;
var menuHolder:MovieClip = new MovieClip;
addChild(menuHolder);
[code]....
Simple question i can trace all elements from xml but how to trace 5 or 15 or any number (that you enter to input text field) of random elements from xml file

I have a simple code that seems to be giving strange results.
var startPoint:Point = new Point(x, y); // a point
var r:Number = path[i].row + (-Math.floor((length * 2 + 2) / 2)); // just some math
trace(r); // the math checks out and gives a 3
var tey = startPoint.y + r; //this gives a really strange return....

I have created a set of MC's loaded from library via attachMovie in a for loop. Right now I have a set of MC's that are attached with the numbers 1-8. I would like to be able to select a MC and traces back its number. I know this can be achieved through an array. I know how to build arrays, but I do not know how to create an array what would trace back a number form a for loop.
Here is the code:
this.createEmptyMovieClip("navClip",this.getNextHighestDepth());
for (i=0; i<8; i++) {
currentThumb = navClip.attachMovie("numberBox", "clip"+i, i, {_x:(i*50)});
currentThumb.imageNum.text = i+1;
navClip._x = (Stage.width/2)-(navClip._width/2);
currentThumb.onRelease = function() {
trace(currentThumb);
};}
I need it to call back in the onRelease the number associated with that clip(array).
I've got a 1126: Incorrect number of arguments (Expected 1) but I'm not sure what kind of an argument is involved with a trace statement. My goal is to 'package' things a little more so that I can have a 'pre-loader class' that will run first followed by a gallery or whatever. Usually, I just do it all in one package or in the timeline itself, but I'm hoping that this will clean things up and hopefully go faster for me.

next to the header of an advancedDataGrid you see a number. This number stays grey no matter what i do. I Already searched 1 hour to find the solution.
View 1 RepliesI passed dynamically value for color code But Its number format,but i need Hexadecimal color code?how can i convert numer format to Hexadecimal format in as3?here my code
ActionScript Code:
var tf:TextField = new TextField();
tf.text ="jkg"

In a nutshell, the swf contains four ads (which link to portions of the site) and each ad uses the Timer element, displaying it for 5 seconds before moving on to the next one. Everything has come together nicely (although I'd like to clean up the code and use classes at a later date - I'm currently taking AS training from Lynda.com).
What's giving me trouble right now is the navigation bar. What I want to do is create four numerical buttons that a) change color during a mouse roll over b) change color for a corresponding ad (for example, when the third ad displays, the number "3" changes from white to gray to show that it is active and goes back to white when the fourth ad comes up).
Right now, I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've tried making the numbers buttons, but I can't control color changes unless I create two sets of buttons: one with white numbers, one with gray numbers.This also makes for some really bizarre Actionscript coding ideas (ex: after I code the function for the gray nav buttons, I have to code functions that make the white buttons work - but this ends up screwing with the ad cycles). I tried making them as movie clips, but I lose the ability to assign a large hit area like I can with buttons.
I am having issues with a global array. I have an actionscript file called MyGlobal.as at the same level as my main FLA:
[Code]....
I am able to trace that first element while trace is called within the function... but if I try to trace that first element outside of the function it is "undefined". Do I need to return the array at the end of the function? I tried that but I cant seem to get it working correctly.
I've been playing with prototype a bit and I've noticed that either it isn't as static as it should be or that some functions are protected from altering, or that in some cases the prototype actually extends a function. For example, I was trying to modifiy the global trace function to output the current time of a trace action, something like this :
Code:trace("lulu"); // output 12:48:17.286 lulu I DID achieve something close to it, but it seems that I haven't actually modified the global trace function, but rather it's "_root" counterpart,

ive got a loaded xml list for an mp3 player. from playing track1, when i select track 2, it traces "track1" but then after a second click it traces "track2" and stays on that. the actually music for track2 does load on the first click though, but not the trace. anyone know why on the first click it would still trace the previous track? here is the code for that function...
[Code]...
take a look at the results of these traces:
trace(imgGal); //traces "1"
trace(itemClip1._y); //traces "32"
trace(itemClip[imgGal]._y); //traces "undefined"
why does the last trace not trace "32" like the second trace? I want to insert the variable "imgGal" onto the end of the mc "itemClip", how can I do this?
[Code]...
var dane:Array = new Array();
dane_xml = new XML();
dane_xml.ignoreWhite = true;[code]....
and this last trace gives me undefined while trace(temp) gives me what I want
I want to do as follows: * click a "red" button write in textarea with red color font click "blue" button
* write in textarea with blue color font Isn't this possible in flash 10 using AS3 I tried using setTextFormat but the problem is i have to have text before inserting format on that.
What I am trying to do is to have the button color change to a different color when it is on the page. The color only changes when I roll over it or hit it. Once I am on the page it changes back to the color it is on the up state.
View 1 RepliesI think it would be simplest to explain it like this:

I would like to know is there any limitations in flash textarea like the number of lines it can have or the number of bytes it can have. iam opening a text file using php in textarea, where all the contents of the files are not getting loaded in the textarea. If it is there then how to increase its size, is it same thing in flex?

View 2 Repliesi have a button, with instance name lightblue_color. I am assigning a color to its color field like this: lightblue_color.transform.colorTransform.color = 0x65ffff; then i am adding an eventlistener to the button like this: lightblue_color.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ChangeColor); Then, in the function: public function ChangeColor(evnt:MouseEvent):void {trace(evnt.target.transform.colorTransform.color);} It prints 0. Why is that? Shouldn't it print 0x65ffff or do i need to do some type conversions?

View 5 RepliesI have an issue working with the setStyle() on the modalTransprancyColor property. The module did not run on different variations of hexadecimal code, only one that seems to work is 0xDDDDDD. Anything else, this line of code will crash Flash.

PopUpManager.removePopUp(this);
Tried: 'black', '0xff0000', '0xFF0000', '0x0116FC'

View 4 RepliesI am getting Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype' every time I load a swf in my flashlog.txt.Does anyone know how to disable that warning or all warnings in the mm.cfg file or maybe some other way?
View 3 RepliesIn have searched the forums and can't find the appropiate answer. I do not have the "omit traces" option checked in publish settings (I use flash CS5). Here is my code:
package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
[code]....
The creation of a movieclip works fine, but the trace doesn't. This is the main class.
