Jun 28, 2009I'm trying out the FlasBuilder ide with ColdFusion 8 on OS X. When I try to create a new project, I get stuck at the server setup screen that forces you to validate your paths for your ColdFusion root folder and your webroot. Every combination I try says either "LiveCycle Data Services is not installed at the specified location" or "Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml." The flex-config.xml file is sitting in that directory. Is there some trick to getting this to work?

I signed up for the service here:[URL] I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it? I see under the EC2 tab I can create an instance under 'Community AMIs' for adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos-5.5-ami-1.manifes t.xml Is this what I want? I realize this is a bit of a noob question.
once installed what I'm trying to do is to add a folder for AVChat into /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ ([URL]). I am assuming that once I do have this instance running, I can move/modify files on the server instance.

Jul 1, 2011Installed fms4 x64 on windows server 2008 to try it out. When I open up task manager to check processes running, FMSCore process does not run [URL] found this in the knowledge base but step3 "Run this program As Administrator" checkbox is greyed out so I cannot do anything. I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. Even the video that's supposed to play when you click the start screen is not playing.
Set the Flash Media Server services to Run as AdministratorComplete the following steps for each of the following files located in the Flash Media Server root installation folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server, by default):
FMSAdmin.exeFMSCore.exeFMSMaster.exeFMSEdge.exeRight-click the file and chooseProperties.
Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users.
Select Run This Program As Administrator.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service.
Restart the computer.
Flash Media Server starts when the computer starts.

Jan 26, 2010I am using Flex/Flash to build a UI which front-ends my Rails server application. I am using WebORB as the communication mechanism. My question should apply beyond just WebORB, however. (I think).
Specifically, it has to do with the services-config.xml file. I have a local (laptop) dev environment, a remote dev and a remote production environment. I am sick of editing the URL in the services-config.xml file, rebuilding and deploying every time I want to test in a different environment.

By setting the URI="/weborb" and giving it a relative path, I figured it would work. locally--but it doesn't when I deploy it to my remote dev and prod environments (Heroku). Weird.

Oct 14, 2011Im starting to learn about how RTMFP works in Flash, and I want to know what do I need to make this happen. I got this game, flash game, and I'd like to use RTMFP so other players can play versus/coop with each other.
Think of a RTS (Starcraft), I build units, some other guy do the same, and units fights with each other.
If I understand correctly, Cirrus is enough to make this happen, but I also heard some guys saying that FMS (Flash Media Server) is required for this, wich is, if Im correct, quite expensive at least for my low budget.
So, let say, I got N players, and they can connect with each other like in a regular RTS online game, is Cirrus enough for this?, or do I need to pay for FMS? I'd also want to record some data after the match is over, so I can give some points/gold/etc to each player

Nov 3, 2010I have a FMS 3.5 installed on windows 2003 server, with a NFS file system.Both the application directory and the data directory is on the network file system.Every two weeks the system became unstable because the Free system PTEs go under 2000.The only strange thing i've noticed is that the Virtual size of the FMScore grows to about 1.300.000K after few hours from the reboot of the machine and stay to this value indipendently from the load of the server, In another FMS installed on a machine without the network file system this value is 16.800 K.

Mar 3, 2010I've been trying to setup a working method for unit testing flex libraries using Flex Builder. i have tried setting up a standard flex lib project and using Ant to compile and run the units tests. But this means that when something does go wrong and I want to use the flex builder debugger I cannot do so.
So my next plan is to setup the library as a normal as3/flax/air app as I can use the concept of a main class to run the unit tests. I can then compile the actual library code using Ant.
I could also setup a separate companion project who's sole task is to run units tests on the lib. But this is a little awkward as each library now requires two projects to manage. How do other people develop flex libraries and use unit tests to test/develop/debug the code?
