With regular HTML it's possible to change the look of the page and to make new cookies using javascript simply by typing it into the address bar and hitting enter.But what about flash videos.Is there a way to preform some action on the video on the page using javascript in the address bar?
View 2 RepliesI have a flash site, where when a user clicks on a link the page does not reload but the content changes with flash(like any normal flash site). So for example if user click on products page, the product page content is displayed, and the url in the address bar also changes from "domainname/index.aspx" to "domainname/index.aspx#/products"
I need to get this url from the address bar, and if i use "window.location.href" it returns "domainname/index.aspx". Does anyone know whether it is possible to read the url from the address bar which is changed by the flash.
I am trying to build a Flash banner ad which will be hosted on a site I have no access to. My client would like to have a button which, when clicked, would open a youtube video in a lightbox frame. I've been looking all around, but all I see that seems workable involves my being able to edit the html page. I am trying to do this with AS3 and Javascript. Some solutions involve JQuery, but I am not a JQuery pro.

I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.
View 1 RepliesWith all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.
View 2 RepliesI was wondering wether it is possible to inject a frame script into a MovieClip and to get a reference to the mc the script was injected into from the function used as the frame script.There is a MovieClip named mc. It has a frame label 'end' somewhere and we want to add a stop() to that frame without adding code to the MovieClip itself (keep in mind that this is just an example). So here is the code (we could place it on the main time line of a test movie that has the mc on the stage):

When the playhead reaches the frame labeled "end" in mc the function doStop() will execute. This function keeps its original scope however. So to stop the mc we need to specify mc.stop(). 'this' points to the object where the function doStop resides so this.stop() won't work. If we wanted to use the same function for multiple mcs we'd have to get a reference to the currently targeted mc somehow.

The code only looks for the @ sign and if it's there assumes it's a good address. I need it to also check for a period and try as I might I can't get it to work properly. View 2 Repliesi have this javascript tracking-code I need to place in our flash-banner in order for our third-party tracking company to track clicks and that sort of stuff, but I'm not sure how I need to place it in our flash-banner. I thought I coudl simply place this javascript into a top layer or the like, but seems I cannot directly include it like that inside Flash. Then I thought perhhaps I could simply save the javascript file as .js file and call it from within the Flash file, but not sure how to go about it...

View 2 RepliesI actually have two websites on the same domain. say, for example[URL]..flashsite contain the website that is fully flash based while the other is an html based with no flash. what i want is that, if somebody visits my url on [URL]..the javascript should first detect if the plugin is installed in his browser. if yes, then it should take me directly to the "flashsite" folder, and if not, then it should, by default, load the html website.

I understand how to get the cue points in, but most people only seem to want to handle the cue point events within Flash. I want to use Javascript to display a different text in a page element at each point. Does the method vary depending on what player you're using? View 2 RepliesI have an AJAX web service call that returns a chunk of HTML that I then apply to a DIV element on my page.This works fine for any html element except a flash video which comes up with 'Movie not loaded'.I've double-checked the html that is being returned and it's all fine, and it works if I don't use AJAX, but when I use AJAX and then add it using JS it doesn't seem to attempt to load the playlist.

I have a HTML5 video with jquery hooking into the player like so: video.currentTime += 1; But when IE comes along and insists on using Flash plugins, none of my JQ will work - How am i supposed to control the video when Flash takes over from HTML5?

Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.
I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.
I've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)
