Flash :: Make Integer Round Off To Hundredths Place
Jan 12, 2012
In actionscript 3, I have a user enter a number into a field and this field is supposed to be for a cash value. How do I make it so that if for some reason they put say 20.956, it would round up to 20.96?
I'm working on a program that requires a random number between 320-370 to be generated. For the sake of this post, let's say the result is 345 (Figure A). That number is then divided by 1,000, which gives me 0.345, then the thousandths spot is removed via a *100--> round --> /100 technique, leaving 0.35 (Figure B). So, the whole point of generating these numbers is that they will later be used to evaluate what a user has entered into two input text boxes. If the number entered into Input Text A matches Figure A, correct, and if the number entered into Input Text B matches Figure B, correct.
Everything works perfectly EXCEPT when Figure B ends with the number 3 or 4 in the hundredths position. The Input Text B won't evaluate correctly, and I can't quite make sense of it. So, if Figure A is 331, Figure B becomes .33. User enters .33 into Input Text B, and it absolutely will not evaluate correctly. However, all other numbers in the hundredths spot seems to work fine.
I have a button that adds .01 to a total, but when it gets to around 6 it ends up being something like this .0600000000005 how can I fix this? This is what my code looks like so far.[code]
I have a graphics object.I want it to doa full turn all the way round. To give the impression that it's turning around. What I can do is create an object, put another instance on a key frame later, and on that instace simply flip the object horizontoally. When I play the animation...It has the effect of doing half the turn.what I want is something that flips all the way round!I've played with trying to do this...But i just cant get it to work.
The width and height being passed in is a non integer value, for instance 18.75. When the new BitmapData is created it always rounds down the value to an integer, since the arguments for BitmapData are typed as such. In the case of my needs here, the width and height will not likely ever be integers. Is there a way to create these bitmap pieces of another image at the exact width and height I need or can a new bitmapData only be created with integer values for height and width?
EDIT: I realize you can't have a fraction of a pixel, but... What I am trying to achieve is dividing an image into tiles. I want the amount of tiles to be variable, say 4 rows by 4 columns, or 6 rows by 8 columns. the division of an image into X number of parts results in widths and heights in most cases to be non integar values like 18.75 for example. The goal is to divide an image up into tiles, and have that image appear, assembled seamlessly, above the source image, where I would then manipulate the individual tiles for various purposes (puzzle game, tiled animation to new scene, etc). I need the image, when assembled from all the tile pieces, to be an exact copy of the original image, with no lines between tiles, or white edges anywhere, and I need this to happen with non integer widths and heights for the bitmapData pieces that comprise the tiles.
How can I move the Flash layers on the browser or How can I make Flash layers transperant on Browser to see what's under them ?When browsing (I use firefox) in the internet when flash apps. work;At flash applications some images get over the other and I want to see whats under that image.I some how have to move that image or make it transperant to see under it?
I'm making a canadian tax calculator - and it all works BUT I need it to check the fields and if they're blank, make it process it as zero. ALSO, I've now discovered I need to make the fields display as money would. Is it possible to make the fields only show two decimal points, put a comma in (like --> 2,546.00) and have it everytime show two zeros (sometimes it displays as this --> 26.0 instead of 26.00. At the *least* I need it to show 26.0 >> like this ...26.00
im following some suggestions to cut my flash website into a few sections to make preloading a bit easier. so all i want is to make a small round ring rotate as long as the file is loading. so i looked and followed a lot tutorials but all the preloaders tutorials are much more compliceted then i need. they all have persentige sowing, and a bar that is filling according to how much the file has loaded, and colors changing etc. so i tried to take from the tutorials wat i need for my simple preloader to work but i get stuck.i built the animation of the rotating ring, but i get stuck with the actions i need to make the animation work as long as the file is working. i called my ring animation "circularloader". here is a image of the page with the ring:
I used the liquid Flash layout file from this site , but i got one problem.I placed the script in a layer called actionscript and on frame 1, under it there is a other layer called background. I placed in just a square with a gradient color and made it a movieclip. I also placed this on frame 1. Everything is working perfect from this point but when i want to place a keyframe on frame 10 in the background layer and make a motion tween so that the background fades in from 0 opacity to 100, it doesn't work.
if i make a new fla movie, and place this code on the first frame
Actionscript Code:var txtFile:String = "http://localhost/php/Portfolio/home.txt"; var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest (txtFile); var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadHandler); loader.load(urlRequest); function loadHandler(e:Event):void [code]....
How do I convert an integer to a string value? This must be easy. "Ya guys in SO are da best at explaining." I'm still working on these dumb counters.
NEED TO JOIN THIS TOGETHER
//My counter project "sends to dynamic text field" var timer:Timer = new Timer(10); var count:int = 0; //start at -1 if you want the first decimal to be 0
How do I remake my swf for xml commands? "Remake" sounds silly, but I just want to have integer values updated by an XML file. This may be beyond my understanding. I'd like an example, a mash-up, or method I can work from.
myThoughts
- It needs to read XML "parse it etc"
- variables receive e:data instead "my struggle with passing values and function calls"
I'm new to Flash (sort of - I used it a bit back in 1999-2000, but it's changed a LOT since then). I'm making an educational game for my company that involves dragging labels from a word-bank to their correct position on a diagram. I want the kids to be able to drag any one of the five labels and move them to any one of five marked positions on the diagram. I'm using Flash CS5 with Actionscript 3. I used code snippets, so that each individual label has the following code associated with it:
I'm trying to make a movieclip move slower at a certent place in my movieclip. This means, that the speed needs to be lowered when e.g. showing af picture. Here is the situation. I have a movieclip running different pictures. E.g. the first runs for 115frames and fades out. Instead of runing 115 frames i want the movieclip to run 5 frames (picture fading in) and the stops or delays for 10sek and then goes to frame 6 from where the picture fades out. Where in the movieclip should i place this Action Script?
I've got different functions in actionscript 3, one function generates random numbers each time there's a button click. But with another button I want to call the random number which is generated at that moment. I have to call the random number from another function then, but these are two different functions so it just considers it as an undefined property.
[Code]...
But I can't call randomnummer1 because it's inside another function. So I get the property undefined error.
I have just started working with PHP and MySQL together with flash and so far everything has been going brilliant. I am working on making a game which stores it's variables in a MySQL database. The problem is numbers. When PHP sends numbers back to flash, they don't seem to work properly. Full explanation what happens:
The guy on the stage in my flash movie uses the variable p_speed to control his movement speed across x and y axis when pressing arrow keys. On the database it is stored as 12. In the flash movie, at the start, it is 8. Now, everything works fine, and Flash even receives the variable 12 from PHP just right, however, my character starts jerking about e.g. when I press the left arrow key he disappears (probably very fast movement).
There is any way, any cody or anything that can make an action or function take place when a sound reaches a specific second?? For example I have a sound file, when it reaches the 15 second, I want the _root.play(); action to be executed

How to make this smoke effect work without mouse input. I am trying to have it spill from the end of a cannon, & my attempts to modify the position have resulted in all my bitmaps shifting. I changed this doTrail(_root, _xmouse, _ymouse, currentBitmap); To this doTrail(_root, _x=80, _y=100, currentBitmap); [Code] .....
I'm having my first go at creating a custom component that lays out items in a grid. I have made a selection of inspectable properties accessed though getter/setter methods. Some of these parameters are dynamic, and change when the user resizes the component or changes another linked value. Is it possible to make the parameters panel update with the new values when a change takes place. Without this, the user will not have accurate feedback on the values stored in the component. Does anyone know if this is possible (or difinitely impossible)?
