Flash :: Make Movieclips Respond To Mouse Events With Invisible Button On Top
Dec 2, 2011
I have a banner with big invisible button covering the stage and underneath it I have movieclips which must respond to mouse events. But I can't get through invisible button. I only get button events and cant interact with movieclips underneath it. Here's simple code:
invisibleBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onTopClick);
bottomMc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, onBottomOver);
function onTopClick(e:MouseEvent):void{
if I attach two movie clips MC1 and MC2 on the stage.MC1 has a simple button also. MC2 is transparent.First I attach the MC1 and then I attach MC2. Both on the stage. So obviously, MC2 is added over the MC1. In this situation, I cannot click the button which is place in the MC1.If Im not wrong, in AS2, if the MC2 is transparent, the button in the MC1 can still respond to the mouse events.
I'm trying to place 5 instances of a horizontal line (mcLine) starting at 78% from the top of the Stage. This all works fine, but I want to be able to have these dynamically created MovieClip instances register mouse events and they don't.First the setup of the mcLine instances:
var nFirstLineY:Number = (Math.round(Stage.height*.78)); var nLineSpace:Number = 22; var nWaitTime:Number = 1000;[code]...
If I place instances of the mcLine MovieClip on the stage and name them line_1, line_2, etc., the function LineVibrate works, but when I try to add the instances at run time as above, the LineVibrate function stops working.
I'm making a Flash game (which is basically a version of the same game), and I've used a tileList for the board populated with movieClip pieces. I would like the pieces to respond to mouseOver, mouseOut, and mouseClick events. From looking at other question/answers, I get the idea I'll need a custom imageCell. Is that the way to go. I was hoping I could get the responses I want by putting the actions into the movieClips themselves as below, but that doesn't seem to work. (btw I'm new to the community but have wound up here several times from Google searches
My animation works in AS3 but wont respond to mouse events I suspect I have bitmaps and have to convert the bitmap to a sprite.I cant do this as yet.
Code: } private function imageLoaded(event:Event):void { var Singleimage:Bitmap = new Bitmap(event.target.content.bitmapData); //var bmd=Singleimage.bitmapData; //img1=new
I have some buttons that work fine, but when I put a movie clip above them, the stop to react to the mouse. Is there a code to make the mouse to be ignored by that MC?
I am using Flash Professional CS4. I made 2 buttons (2 rectangles,each turned into a symbol of type button). I now want when I click 1 button that the second becomes invisible. Is there a way to do so?
I have an instance of a movie clip on the stage that jumps to different labels (within the movieclip) when the large buttons at the top of the scene are in rollover state. The problem is that it stays there when the mouse leaves the button.
How do I make that symbol go back to frame one (not there) within the movie clip so that it disappears when there is no activity on the buttons?
Is there a button parameter like MOUSE_OFF (I know that's not one)?
I want my flash movie to respond to rollover type events for links on my website. The idea being that the flash movie will provide descriptions of the links when moused over, but if the user doesn't have flash the functionality isn't lost. What's the best way to do this (if it's possible)?
I have two movie clips on top of each other. The one underneath is a button and the first movieclip is not always no top of it so everything is fine, the bottom one listens for Clicks and Mouse.ROLL_OVER just fine. However whenever the first movie clip moves and happens to stop overtop the button, that is where the problems begin.
Is there any way for me to make the movie clip on top somehow cause the ROLL_OVER to get through to the underlying movie clip as well as the clicks?
I have a movieclip that contains other movieclips, however the nested movieclips don't seem to detect mouse events.Via searching, I found that only the parent can detect these events, but is there a way to pass the mouse click from the parent movie clip to the children? I want to have a small movieclip. When you rollover it, it scales up, and then you should be able to click other various things on it. When you rollout, it scales back down.If this is not practical, what's the best way to keep a movieclip "attached" to another and scale, without childing them?
I have a movieclip on top level that has a getURL script.... but I have other movieclips inside that only have a RollOver event on them.How can I allow for ALL of these mouse events to be seen through all levels of the movieclips ?
This one's been irking me for a while. When I'm using the mouse scroll wheel to scroll up and down in a webpage, and a flash movie comes into the path of the cursor, the scroll wheel stops working. Also, when a flash movie has focus, you can't use browser shortcuts like Ctrl + L or Ctrl + R.
I'm writing a flex application now and I'd like to find a solution, so that at least my users aren't plagued by this inconsistency of the user interface behavior.
I should think there would be a way to tell flash to propagate such events as the mouse scroll wheel and keyboard input back up to the browser unless they occur in an element for which they are useful, like in a flex textarea. I can't find any solutions out there though, nor even anyone talking about it.
Specifically, how can I make it so that:
When the user is scrolling with the mouse, the browser scrolls unless the mouse is over a flex container with scrollbar, or another component that wants to scroll.When the user presses a button or combination of buttons on the keyboard, it will be propagated to the browser unless there is an active keyboard listener, or the cursor is in a text field, etc.
I have some nested movieClips. I've got an event listener on the parent listening for a mouse click. Problem is, the listener never picks up the click.[code]On movieClipStack, I can see that mouseEnabled = true. In addition, buttonMode = true works exactly like it's supposed to. But onStackClicked never happens - movieClipStack just isn't detecting any sort of mouse event.
In my ongoing quest to learn AS3 I am rewriting some of the many, many interactives I have done in AS2. There have been several AS2 interactives where I have used a map of California. The map itself is a movieclip and within that movieclip, all the counties are movieclips that function as buttons and above the counties are the county names which are also movieclips. In other words when you mouse over the counties they do things; the most simple being the county name alpha goes from 0 to 1. In AS2 all the movieclips respond to roll overs even though they are physically obscured by other movieclips within the main map movieclip.
In AS3 the county movieclips (which are on the lowest layer within the main map movieclip) are obscured by other movieclips on higher layers and do not respond to Roll Overs etc. When I move the county movieclips to the highest layer within the main map movieclip, they work just fine. Of course then they obscure all the map details such as roads, labels, etc. Is there some setting to allow movieclips to be read through other movieclips that are physically above them within a main movieclip.
I have a few swf's that are loaded into a base file using levels. These clips can be cycled through by means of a setInterval function or when the user clicks the next or previous button. However, when the user hovers over a defined 'hit' area which is ultimately a blank movie clip, the setTimeout call is then canceled. This works fine, except that now the 'hit' clip - being above everything - prevents the movies below accepting hit states, and if I move it to below everything else, when one mouses over any element in the loaded movie, it then acts as though the user has mouse out of the hit area.
Is there any way to have this 'hit' clip do its job simply by determining if the mouse is over it, but without using an onRollOver function or equivalent?
I'm sure this is something easy that I'm missing, but I can't figure it out. How do I make a button invisible? I need it to be invisible through frame 43 of my movie. I have tried changing the alpha to 0, but it's not letting me change that, except in the edit button mode which changes it for the entire duration and not just through frame 43.
I have a home page, with 5 swf's that are called into a container on the main. Now when I click on the home button on i need for the embedded swf thats up to become invisible not unload because i need the information to .
I created a class with a timer, the timer works but I am having 2 problems, I want it to respond to events on I want to start the timer on MOUSE_LEAVE, and stop it on MOUSE_MOVE so that basically whenever the user removes the mouse from the banner it starts the timer cycle again and when the movie detects the user is interacting with the banner it stops the timer
I Want to load an external .swf in a movieclip which is my container "contenedor_somos" when i click on a button. What i want to do next is to make that .swf to dissappear or unload or whatever when i click another button.
For my newspaper i am creating each page has a next button and a previous button. I have assigned the previous button on one page to attach the movie of the page previous to it and then tested my movie. However when i click the previous button the movieclip does load but loads behind the starting moveiclip. So what i want to do is when the previous button is cliked, that page (movieclip) with the previous button on its dissappears and the previous page loads.
I want to make the timeline go to the next frame (ie gotoAndStop) only if two button instances are invisible. For the buttons I have scripted an on(release) to make them invisible, but I don't know how to use the if function to make my animation progress when they are both invisible.
Essentially, the simplified problem is this: I have a parent sprite "PARENT" with two children: One child sprite "A" that contains a number of children which respond to mouseover/mouseout and rollover/rollout events, and a second child sprite "B" that is shown/hidden based on the events in "A".
The problem is that "B" appears over "A" on the stage and when the mouse enters "B", the children in "A" throw mouseout/rollout events. Ideally, I would be able to make "B" completely mouse transparent so that the hit testing in AS3 will "see through it" to the underlying "A" sprite, but this doesn't seem possible.
Note that "B" has mouseEnabled and mouseChildren set to false... but the problem seems to be that the AS3 hit testing engine won't look at siblings when determining mouse hit testing. (i.e. It sees "B" under the mouse, sees the mouseEnabled=false setting, and then moves on to "B"'s parent ("PARENT"), but never checks to see if "A" is under the mouse (which it is)).
I can't make "B" a child of "A", because "A" is clipped and "B" needs to extend beyond this clipping area.
At this point I'm thinking I'm going to have to do my own hit testing, which is far from ideal given that "A" contains a large number of children.
