if i was to make a flash website is there a way that i could have it scale the width to fit the browser, and scale the height so that it keeps the same aspect ratio and doesn't stretch the contents out of proportion?
View 3 RepliesMy site has a header and footer and then has an empty mc the full size of the stage (overlaps the footer and header). I'm loading 3 separate movable windows into this mc. I would like both the header and footer to scale proportionally with the browser (including the empty mc.), but not the windows. So basically I want everything to scale but the windows as they have pixel fonts.I'm not happy with my current website because its not scalable and when I drag the windows around I have huge margins on larger resolutions. Since my header and footers are vectors I realize I can make things alot more flexible if I can just figure this out.

But in this case they only want me to scale it horizontally and don't make the elements in it loose proportion.So if the website scales so will have the flash to scale increasing it's width so i can add more elements in flash, dinamically to left and right.

When scaled down I would like the swf to scale proportionately with it. Like an image with width percent applied. The flash movie has the dimensions of 940 × 360 pixels.
I can't seem to figure out the correct attributes to add to the embed tag to get it to do this.I am currently using jquery flash embed, but am open to other options, though this is my ideal.In the example I have set the flash background to black.
When resize the browser window the flash movie doesn't scale proportionately to the div, only the photo does, leaving a blank canvas (black), while the div height stays the same. I can't add a height value in the CSS.How do I make this scale correctly? Adding a noscale param only crops the image. The swf's height doesn't scale also.
I have a 50x50 fixed rectangle in the center of the stage. I am using this rectangle as a "hit area" to copy pixels of a bitmap that is draged by the user to line up an area of the image he/she would like to crop.I have preview of the hit area displayed while the bm is being dragged which works well. However, once the bitmap is scaled using the slider component the preview area no longer reflects what is in the hit area.

How does flash scale for fullscreen?For example, if I draw a shape and give it a width and height of 100px (square)...does that scale up proportionally when the flash is made full screen? Or does that object stay 100px x 100px?
View 2 RepliesIm designing a website but having trouble viewing the whole page on different sized monitors. On more square resolution monitors, the left side of the website will get cut off. If you scale the browser window up, to a more widescreen format again the site will come back into view, but as you scale your browser window to the left e.i. making it more square, agian the left side gets cut off.

I am in AS2 with a working full browser flash site. I have an mc I'd like to start out at 100% but scale up to 120% if the browser window area increases. How do I tell example_mc to scale proportionally up to 120% when the window scales?

I dun want my swf stretch out or scale at all. I want to display it without scaling and also in the center of the browser window.

I have finished my flash game, but when I used web Browser such as Chrome or FireFox to run it, it enlarged my game to full size of the browser. Is there anyway( in AS3 script) that I could prevent this from happening as well as hide the symbols that their sizes are bigger than my default size defined at the document property panel?

I am trying to create a website that will full scale the browser window with all the flash elements inside but I am having trouble deciding what resolution to design in and how to lock certain content to not scale.
I am trying to achieve the effect that will consist of a high resolution image as the background for each section of the website that will full screen. Content such as logo and footer etc should always remain locked. An example of this can be found at http:[url]..... If you shrink the browser window all content stays centralised and the top and bottom footer do not scale, although the central part of the site does change. I was wondering how this effect was achieved? How does some content remain locked and others scale. I really can not figure out what dimension size to design in and achieve the high res image effect for the site. I too will require a top and bottom footer.how that site was published and constructed that would be brilliant.At present I am playing around with the following code:

the width im interested is the actual width of the object on the stage, not relative to its parent.
e.g. like there is a function "local to global" for objects coordinates
i know i can get objects actual width if i multiply its width * scaleX or scaleY
but does the scaleX and scaleY refer to absolute scaling or scaling relative to objects parent?

I have been hacking together two different tutorials to create a menu with changing images, and some animating text. Everything looks great, except the menuitems, which i try to resize dynamically depending on the menuitem-movieclip-contained dynamictext. When i resize this movieclip, the whole movieclip scales, and everything looks odd.

i got a logo, each letter it a clip, cos the logo is bit more than just text, but thats beside the point. I want each letter to start of larger than it should be and zoom out (scale down) to the normal size, pref with a bit of a bounce at the end, so it goes from very big to, slightly smaller then proper size, to proper size, get it? with help from Master64 (via IRC) i worked out that i could use _xscale and _yscale (i am relativly new here, lol ) but the problem i got is that it scales, but in huge jumps, not smooth.The class is ment to be reusable (duh!) so my concept is

The problem is that the captions underneath the images are in a fixed width text box. They look fine underneath horizontal images, but I want to have the text shift in when a vertical image is loaded, and is narrower.

I've got a container(sprite) with children(sprites) added to it. When I scale the container, I would like to get the new width of a child, but when I trace the children's width I always get the original dimensions, even though everything gets visually scaled as it should. How do I overwrite the children-width ?
Update: I just found out that the children.graphics-"dimensions" could have caused the problem. When I leave the graphics, everything seems ok. Is it possible to scale the graphics at same time as the child-sprite?
Is there any performance difference? I am scaling a 2000 - 4000 wide movieclip, within a 600 wide stage. Does it matter which way I scale it in terms of CPU usage;
myMovieClip.scaleX *= 2;
or
myMovieClip.width *= 2;
The movieclip will be scaled multiple times and to varying sizes.
how you would go about making a movieclip span 100% width of the stage?? for example in a full browser flash site?
