So I have a movieclip in my flash that has an event listener that calls it to pull up when the mouse is over and go down when the mouse is out. Kinda like a menu. But this object that I am accessing has text over it. The problem is it works until the the mouse that hits the text over it. Then it drops down.[code]
View 3 RepliesI've got a Glow effect (glowIn) being applied to an object on the roll over which has a startDelay applied. I have another glow effect (glowOut) on roll out. If the user mouses out of the control during the startDelay of glowIn, I want to cancel the effect. How do I do this? In this instance, I'm using a glow effect with a startDelay of 300ms. I want a short pause before the item actually shows the effect, but I don't want the effect playing if the user mouses out during this time. I'm setting the properties as follows:

I don't think it matters much, but the component in question is a Series within a chart that gets created at runtime so I would prefer a solution in actionscript rather than mxml if possible.

I am a PHP Developer, I know nothing about Flash and with all respect I do not want to know anything about. I develop a CMS which provides the backend for a Flash front end. Data is passed to the template via XML. Everything is grand. The problem is with text formatting. Currently we use the dodgiest flash text formatter. It doesn't work half the time, its horrible but it - just about - does the job. I have been tasked with replacing it. I would like to bring in CKEditor or TinyMCE but when I do I have 2 major problems.
1) Pre-existing HTML messes up the display in TinyMCE due to its invalidity (I can solve this.)
2) The TinyMCE HTML breaks the flash template because of the valid HTML.
I have an interactive assignment in which the students have to enter text entries into an input box. I have it working to where when the enter the correct answer it will tell them, or if it's wrong. I need to be able to tell them when they get to the last question, after they have gotten all of them correct, that they got all the questions correct. I know how to do this with a drag and drag interaction but not text entry. can someone point me in the right direction?

I found some examples of how to bypass this during a drag function but it was not applicable for a text input.The problem is that when a user selects some text in textinput and mouses off the application area and then mouses up, I'm getting a problem that the textinput keeps thinking that the mouse down is actively selecting text in the textinput and continually overwrites the characters being entered in the textinput. in the search bar of the live store on the page, type some text, then highlight it all and don't let up on the mouse until you are outside the store.I finally hacked some junk together so I can tell if the mouse goes off the stage using some code like.

Im working on a project which includes a text editor in Flash which works perfectly but im trying to alter the code so the editor works over several input boxes rather than just one. I have a PHP file which is correctly pulling records from a SQL database. What I need to do is place each new record into a new text box. I understand that I need to assign a variable to each record as it comes through the PHP file and that Flash needs to know which variable to assign to which text box. I have to dynamic text boxes; one is for articles and the other is supposed to bu for navigation of the articles. I have a variable set up for the article dynamic text box and I want the navigation part to be filled in via text file. so I need to find a way for the information that's fed in to the navigation part to functions as buttons and when they are clicked a variable should pass though flash telling is what story to display. for instance if you click stereohype then storyvar == stereohype. see what I mean? I could do it all in flash but i'm trying to make it where I don't have to touch the flash file after it's completed and everything can just be manipulated via text files with html php xml you name it, what ever works.

I made a simpletext file and used the loadVariablesNum() script in flash to call that file into dynamic text boxes within my flash piece. that's all fine and dandy but now the problem is that I don't know how to make links in that simpletext document to link to specific parts of my flash movie. Basically, I need the simpletext document to have words that you can click that will take you to another frame that has another dynamic box in it with more text.

So, I know how to resolve this by clicking the settings. But our users won't want to do that. What doesn't make sense is that the swf file isn't pulling anything from the Internet. The world.swf file shouldn't be communicating with sample.html, and not only that, they are located in the same folder.

View 5 RepliesThe code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.
What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.
Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?
I really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:

Is it possible to tell a text box to auto fit to its text? What I mean is that when i change the size of a font to something smaller the text box remains its old large self. This is a problem because when I want to align this text with several other text boxes that have gone through similar treatment, the alignment will take into account the full box size rather than just the text.
So basically I have to go and manually shorten each text box. Which is a pain when you have to deal with a lot of text. Is there a script or button/option I'm not aware of that will auto fit the box constantly?
I want to parse the data from an XML file into an array and then put each of the values in the array into a dynamic text box on the stage. The text boxes are name "number1_txt", "number2_txt" &c.I have managed to set up a loop to parse the XML into my array and also to generate the names of the text boxes dynamically but I can't get the values from the array to display in the text boxes!
