Flash :: Use The New AppendBytes Function From Flash Player 10.1 To Stream A Local FLV File To FMS?
Oct 30, 2011
I have a netConnection connected to a Flash Media Server. I am trying to use the new appendBytes function from Flash Player 10.1 to stream a local FLV file to FMS. I'm having issues however... Documentation I get online
function playFile(data:ByteArray):void
{
// data is bytearray data from an already loaded FileReference object[code]....
However, I'm getting an error with the appendBytesAction and appendBytes. The error is: Error #2004: One of the parameters is invalid....TypeError: Error #2004: One of the parameters is invalid.

I'm trying to force the Flash player to play video files without showing screens. I did try to set vidDisplay.visible to false. But it seemed not working at all.I was doing was try to build a generic media player. Whatever the source is(audio or video), the control panel always the same, namely, a mp3 player panel is always displayed:However, when I stream in a video file, it would end up overriding mp3 panel with a partial video screen. I don't have enough reputation to upload images...

in older versions of flash player if I opened a swf file in a web page locally it would bring up a security settings box where I could allow files to play locally - but this doesn't seem to happen in flash player 11 - how do I enable my swfs to play locally?

I've recently encountered a problem whilst coding when trying to upload local files to flash. With Flash Player 10 you can use the following code to load local files into flash.
[code]...
This is not available in Flash Player 9 which is causing me issues as I only have a copy of CS3. All I need to do is retrieve a local jpg from the users computer and temporarily display it in my flash application. So to clarify, uploading to the server isn't required unless this is the only way to do this with Flash Player 9?

I have an mp3 player(AS3) loads in external mp3. I am trying to attach the flash local connection script to the mp3 script so that I can have the mp3 pop up in a smaller browser and it be controlled by the main homepage.
here is an example, [URL] select track 4, you will see it starts playing but also another small window pops up but its behind the main browser. this is then controlled with a 'Stop' and 'Play' function on the main home page.
thats what I am trying to create:
ok;
I have an example working for the flash local connection where you can drag a ball and it also moves in the smaller pop up window, see here: [URL]
So I have that working and I have the mp3 working, but I need to put both togther and cross over the flash local connection script and incorporate into the mp3 script.
What is the best way for me to send script information, I don't want to flood the thread with AS. You can download the flash lconnection files and the mp3 player from here!

I am using NetStream.appendBytes() to play a local video (no server involved) in Adobe AIR. I would like to use BitmapData.draw() to take a picture of the video output, but I am getting this error:
Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: cannot access null. No policy files granted access.
Here is some sample code:
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.filesystem.File;
[Code].....
This is only sample code use for an explanation. The error would happen when calling the getImage method while the video is playing. The error mentions a policy file not found. Since the file is loaded locally there isn't really a place to put a policy file. Is there a policy setting somewhere that needs to be set or is the BitmapData.draw feature just not available when using appendBytes?

I have a problem with my video player, I'm doing the video display through a seekbar appendBytes and I have but I can not make the video go to a certain point of view when I click on seekbar. I found that the problem is in how I view the video, which is the appendBytes.

I'm looking to create a solution that will enable me to have a folder of AVI files on a USB drive, packaged along with a custom designed player (probably built in Flash). I would like to creare the packaged flash file in a way that will autorun on inserting the drive if at all possible. The solution will need to be platform agnostic (hence my thinking that Flash would be the best bet). Has anyone come across a tutorial for achieving anything even similar to the above?

I have a flash file located on a web server. When it's loaded, I want it to access the user's PC and display some data (such as file directories, files, etc)I know there are security rules about what a flash player can access, but so far all I can seem to find are rules regarding local flash players accessing the internet, but not much on the other way around, or how do go about doing that.

I'm building videochat functionality for a site, using Wowza as the streaming server. I've noticed that when I use the chat on a page hosted on another machine (EC2 in this case) it pixelates, but when I just view a local html file referencing a local copy of the player, there's no problem. I'm not sure why, because even the local copy of the player is sending an outgoing video stream and reading another stream from the streaming server. The only differences between the perfect quality/annoyingly pixelated versions are:
The actual page is hosted locally/nonlocally The .swf file is hosted locally/nonlocally. Does anyone know if downloading the flash player degrades the streams that play in it? And if so, is there any way to get around this?

Does anyone know how to embed a custom video player into the Google Plus' Stream?You can share videos by uploading, via YouTube, or from your phone, but you can also embed the Vimeo player into the stream, for instance, by just dropping the Vimeo video's URL into the Stream.I assume Google is parsing the markup of the URL for specific meta so that it can render it as a video, much like you can do with Facebook's Open Graph:

So I have a working Flash player using Cloudfront, AS3, NetConnection & NetStream. Works with a FLV, but I need it to work with MP4s. It connects to the stream, and outputs the following:
NetConnection.Connect.Success
NetStream.Play.Reset
NetStream.Play.Start
NetStream.Buffer.Full
My presumption is that it is working when looking at these messages, however it doesn't show the video or play any audio.

I have a custom Flash video player that uses the NetConnection and NetStream classes to stream mp4 files from a Wowza server. Lately the playback has been having audio problems. The sound is crackled and in some cases may cause the Flash player to crash. This is not consistent between files. Meaning that a file that was played once with bad audio could be fine 5 minutes later when played again from a new instance of the player , but 5 minutes later have the same problem.
My thought direct me to thinking this was an encoding problem, but that wouldn't explain how one second the playback is fine, and once refreshed messes up again.
I should note that the Wowza server does not stream the entire file but only a portion of it based on various parameters it gets.

I have a VLC player streaming my webcam video through RTSP on 5544 port, the video is encapsulated with MPEG-TS and compressed with MPEG-4 for both audio and video (as is VLC's default I suppose)You can access the streaming video with the following URL:[URL] All is working till here. I could also change transport protocol/incapsulation, that's not a problem since VLC allows me to do it.I want to develop a silverlight player (preferred) or a flash player capable of reproducing the stream (audio and video).I don't know how to do this.The question is: I could not find a link on the internet on how reproducing a VLC stream with a silverlight(preferred) or flash applet in a web pageSince I'm not a Silverlight/Flash developer.

I am using FDT for Flex development and when I compile, and it tries to access a flv file, I get the error "cannot access local file". This is obviously a security sandbox thing.Now I tried adding crossdomain.xml to the root and it still makes the same error. I know somehow I need to add to my project use-network=false, but i cant for the life of me work out where the flex compiler additional arguments area is. I know in eclipse how to do it, but with the slightly modified FDT, i havent got a clue
