View 1 RepliesI'm loading a movie in externally. The external movie has a button to unload itself from the main movie. It loads into _root.calContainer. The button is called xButton. This is the script that's not working:

How can I test if my AS3 code is executing from root or from a child mc that has been imported into a larger project via the loader class? Details:I've got a tutorial that is published both as a standalone projector (exe) and as an swf imported at runtime into a larger project. If the tutorial is running by itself as a standalone projector it needs to execute a few fscommands and perform some other housekeeping chores. I got a variable "VideoFolder" well defined in my root level. However when I used this variable directly in child layers, my script does not recognize it and I get error 1120: Access of undefined property VideoFolder. I tried changing VideoFolder with _root.VideoFolder in all my child layers scripts, but it changes nothing.

I'm switching from as2 to as3 and everything was going swimmingly with my new site until i tried to use a _root call to a function on the main timeline by a loaded movieClip that is loaded nested into 2 other movieclips. the movieClip needs to tell the _root when it's done playing so the root knows to load the next one in line through a php call. Everything works except for the _root call. In as3 there's no such thing as root anymore so I figured no big deal, i'll just find out what the new thing is and holy crap wtf! I can't figure this out!! I've read from doing stuff like custom eventLisnters (which i am trying now) and casting the root as a movieClip and then I read this whole crazy tutorial on building an event structure and the proper MVC way of coding and blah blah blah ALL I WANT TO DO is tell the _root that the loaded MC has reached the end of its timeline. Basically if it were as2 i could just go _root.loadNext(); and it would work.how to make a loaded MC talk to the _root timeline and call a funciton from there?
View 19 RepliesI'm trying to add an element to the scene on the root level, and when it is dropped within a specific movie clip area, it takes that element and puts it in the movie clip, thus allowing me to mask out the area.
Everything works fine when I add can.addChild(myBox); directly, but the element is not viewable on the root scene, since the movie clip is masked. Right now with the code below, the result is gives me is not good. It creates the element on the root level, but doesn't allow me to put it in the movie clip.

I'm using a PreLoader as a parent SWF that loads the actual website as a child SWF. In the website SWF, the child SWF, will MovieClip(root) still work and refer to it's own root, or the PreLoader's root? And would I still access the websitite's document class (the child's document class), through MovieClip(root)? What if both files have a document class?So my main question is how do document classes and MovieClip(root) behave in the scenario when you have:
Parent SWF - document class, MovieClip(root)

Child SWF (loaded by parent) - document class, MovieClip(root)
I have an AIR application that is packaged with a network appliance and that is used to configure that network appliance...much like a the embedded webservers on home routers except this is an installed AIR app.
If I want to communicate with the appliance on a port higher that 1024, do I need that appliance to serve up a socket policy file or is AIR considered a trusted sandbox. All the info I find relates to Flash Player and the web, but this particular AIR app is communicating in a closed environment.
I have a project which loads different info from xml files. everything were working good until something happened one hour ago... Flex started to refuse to load any kind of information from outer files... no matter where they are store, on server or in a same directory. When i say flex I mean when inside flex i press Run or Debug. He just stops working... I mean throwing error about security sandbox violation. It's also appeared that this is not for one Flex Project, but for all Flex Projects what i have.

The code below is simplified for example I'm developing an AIR application (using Flex) which loads several of its images from a remote web server. The images display fine, however, whenever I'm manipulating the containers which hold the remotely-loaded images, I get errors in my console:

I have an Air application that lets users import jpg, png and swf files and use them as the source to an Image which they can drag around a Canvas.he import function copies the selected file to an images directory inside ApplicationStorageDirectory.When I click on an Image that has an swf as its source, I get a Security Sandbox Violation (eg. My mouseDown handler doesn't get called so I can't select it and allow it to be dragged.

I'm getting a Security Sandbox violation on the AS2 swf trying to access the last AS3 swf (3), but I'm using Security.allowDomain("*") in practically all the classes of the first AS3 swf (1).
I am using a Socket (not xmlSocket) connection between flex applications and the server pushing messages.Now, when I connect from the local machine to the server everything is working file and running, connection is succesful and I get data back and forth.When I upload the application (flex) to the server and run it from there, I get a security sandBox violation message.Note:1. I do have a crossdomain file with * wildcard both on port and on domain.2. I created a Securiy.allowDomain("*") as well.Another thing.I also created another listener on that same server, listening to connections for port 843 (default) and this service just waited for a connection send policy file to the client and that's it.

When I run the application locally, it works! However, when I upload it to my server I get a sandbox security error (#2048). The flash app is actually hosted on the same server as the socket server, and there is cross domain policy file in place.

I have an Movie Clip in Flash that have subobject of button type which has subobject of input text and movie clips. Right after creation core Moveclip all subobject are set to null, when I expect them to be valid objects.

MC_Core_design was created in Flash and exported to Actionscript. I've done this for button_1 class aswell. The code was written using Flex. When I comment out both lines that result in error I get correct view of the core Movie clip with all subobject. How can I set subobject properties right after object creation?

I get a Flex 3 sandbox error #2048 after connecting to a Socket on a Java (1.5) server. The server code is all mine, i.e. not running under Apache. Flash Player 10.0 r32.The sequence is as follows...
1 Java server starts, listens on port 843 for policy file request and on port 45455 for my other requests.
2 Flex client served by Apache (although I get the same result if I run it from the file system), socket connection made on host:45455.
3 Flash Player requests policy file from port 843. This is the standard behaviour with the new security settings looking for a master file. It happens regardless of whether a different policy file has been specified.
4 I serve the following XML from Java through port 843:

8 The Flex client receives a ProgressEvent and the event listener I bound to the socket gets called. I process the message (write it to a text box on the screen)
9 The Flash player throws a 2048 sandbox error and the socket is disconnected! This is after the message is received and processed successfully. In fact it is about 12 seconds after. Nothing else works through the socket.
I have tried explicitly loading a policy file with a call to Security.loadPolicyFile() in the Flex client, but the reality of the new player security is that it is basically ignored. The steps are that the policy request will not get sent until a socket i/o operation occurs. At that point the player always goes to port 843 first looking for a master policy file. If it finds one, and it is permissive, it goes no further.
I have tried a variety of alternative ways of terminating the policy file and policy file contents, including deliberate errors just to see if the Flash Player is awake.I can see no reason why I would have a 2048 being thrown. I accurately serve a socket policy file on the designated master security port, which the player itself logs as correct. The socket then successfully sends and receives a message from the server the contents of which are available to my code.
P.S. Please don't tell me to use BlazeDS or LCDS or Granite, or something else as a server, I'm looking for a solution to this problem, not a redesign. And please don't ask me to use an XMLSocket instead - I tried that and get exactly the same result. I have chosen my architecture carefully and deliberately and I want a binary socket.

The close event is fired immediately after successfully receiving a response from the server, however the Error #2048 does not appear until about 20 seconds later. If I try and send a further message after close, but before the error, the Flash Player throws an invalid socket exception.
I converted a standalone Flex app into a module. Now that it's a module, when I login (and call the backend services), I'm getting a security sandbox violation. The login handler throws this fault String: 'Send Failed', with a more descriptive: 'Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection. Call. Failed: URL....Then the FB console throws an 'unhandled security sandbox violation error'.Can converting an app into a module cause a sandbox violation?

Some times its raising by cleaning the project. Every time I'm using my application's backup and updating and then the error is raising. Though I'm accessing local image files, getting error.
