The Alert keeps coming up as 1. I read in the documentation that this will happen with XML objects but it is working when I create the XMLList and counts the number of questions I have. The code is working except it is only rendering 1 RadioButton, very sad. I suppose I could put the number of options within the <options> tag but I'd rather do it dynamically to avoid errors.

When using the component in an MXML document, I would like to have the "(HEADING TEXT)" replaced with a parameter (should be easy) as well as the "(INSTANCE MXML)" with several labels, text inputs, check boxes, etc. (maybe harder). I have found this script-based method, but I would like a cleaner compile-time solution if one exists.

May 26, 2010I'm running flash cs4. I have an xml file I've loaded in but cs4 actually takes out the root nodes. So now I've been trying to add them back in when a button is pressed but I can't do it. So, I have a Vbox names isThisVBoxAwesomeOrWhat that contains another VBox that containst two text fields.Now, further in the code I make a plane out of it so I can make a 3D object out of it, here is the snippet:[for i in totalPlanes]

So now I have my scene filled with planes made out of VBox composite as I wanted. I also have those planes in a linkedList, and what I would like to do now is to "SOMEHOW" access each individual VBox and it's composites for each individual plane.Something like this (obviously doesn't work! Just an example):
linkedList.node.data.VBox.VBox.Text[0]
so I could modify parameters on the fly. Or maybe I'm totally wrong on this and I should have as many Vbox'en as I have planes and id each individually. Whatever the case I can't figure out how to access children of the parent in this mxml example.

I am trying to retrive the ARCHIVE String, but can't seem to do that, without also getting the <level3>COLOR</level3> node. I am doing this like this: _
xmlData.navigation.level1.level2[0], which returns this:
ARCHIVE
<level3>COLOR</level3>
How do I get it to where it only returns the ARCHIVE?

Mar 30, 2009I use the attached code to load the attached xml file, but it will only load the first 20 nodes. I have moved the 20th to the 21st and the 21st up to the 20th and it will still load the first 20, so it isn't a formatting problem.

This works fine if I have more than one , but fails if there is only one .Am I wrong in my assumption that it should return one? Details:I've got a tutorial that is published both as a standalone projector (exe) and as an swf imported at runtime into a larger project. If the tutorial is running by itself as a standalone projector it needs to execute a few fscommands and perform some other housekeeping chores. If the tutorial is running as a child of the larger project these chores must be skipped. I canâ't test Capabilities.playerType because the parent can also run as a standalone projector. However when I used this variable directly in child layers, my script does not recognize it and I get error 1120: Access of undefined property VideoFolder. ActionScript 3.0 :: Nested Child Calling Root Parent Function ?
Jul 18, 2010I'm switching from as2 to as3 and everything was going swimmingly with my new site until i tried to use a _root call to a function on the main timeline by a loaded movieClip that is loaded nested into 2 other movieclips. the movieClip needs to tell the _root when it's done playing so the root knows to load the next one in line through a php call. Everything works except for the _root call. In as3 there's no such thing as root anymore so I figured no big deal, i'll just find out what the new thing is and holy crap wtf! I can't figure this out!! I've read from doing stuff like custom eventLisnters (which i am trying now) and casting the root as a movieClip and then I read this whole crazy tutorial on building an event structure and the proper MVC way of coding and blah blah blah ALL I WANT TO DO is tell the _root that the loaded MC has reached the end of its timeline. Basically if it were as2 i could just go _root.loadNext(); and it would work.how to make a loaded MC talk to the _root timeline and call a funciton from there?

Jan 3, 2011I'm trying to add an element to the scene on the root level, and when it is dropped within a specific movie clip area, it takes that element and puts it in the movie clip, thus allowing me to mask out the area.
Everything works fine when I add can.addChild(myBox); directly, but the element is not viewable on the root scene, since the movie clip is masked. Right now with the code below, the result is gives me is not good. It creates the element on the root level, but doesn't allow me to put it in the movie clip.

In the website SWF, the child SWF, will MovieClip(root) still work and refer to it's own root, or the PreLoader's root? And would I still access the websitite's document class (the child's document class), through MovieClip(root)? What if both files have a document class?So my main question is how do document classes and MovieClip(root) behave in the scenario when you have:
