I have a flex project with two .mxml files. Therefore, there are two .swf files in the bin folder. The size one of them is 500Kb and another 3Mb. Why are they so different? I assume some files with embedded images are not included in the first one. But why? All files in one project in flex builder.
Is there a maximum size limit for files being uploaded in Adobe Flex?I am testing it on localhost and can't upload a file of roughly 300MB.Even though I receive the complete event, after I upload the file....I was able to upload a file of roughly 10MB.
I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides. Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:
<mx:Panel> width="100%" height="100%" </mx:Panel>
Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width. If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
I have three images and I want change the images size based on the scene size (default size is 1024x768). After each image has completely loaded I call bindableUtils.setter to set width/height when scene size changes but I don't know how to make a pointer or something like that. I'm using a public var img, but it only works with the last complete image.
Here is my code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
Could you explain why a Flash Builder source folder - no larger than 2 MB - compiles into a SWF exceeding 15 MB with debugging turned off (exported release build)?
There is only 1 embedded image at about 93k - no other images. The application is not that complicated, basically calls are made to a MySQL db to display information, as well as store information. I have used drop shadows and borders, but all standard to Flash Builder. Some custom classes and one custom skin.
I have some problems reading random size and construction XML files. Example: if u know the construction of file it is no problem, but when trying to display XML data that is unknown structure is more dif. how to read such file? I tried reading entire file into String then trying to manipulate it and have big problems:
I have a question regarding httpstreaming we have fms running with multiple smaller mp4 files about 50 MB in size. When played they start playing immediatly but still are cached/downloaded in directory C:Documents and SettingsUsernameLocal SettingsTemp of the clients
Now we have issues with a large file of 890 MB, which is not being played, clients need to download this complete file to play it. Does the streamingpart doesn't work well on our server?
Please help since we getting a lot of complaints from viewers. Running FMS 4.0.3 on CENTOS 5.7 64 Bit
What can i check besides the forums regarding dynamic httpstreaming
I create an HBox, fill it with a grid of buttons, and set the scroll policy. When I resize the window, the stage changes size, and so does the HBox ... to a point. Once it reaches the height of the Grid it contains, it stops shrinking, like it has a "min-height". This ruins the scrollbar that I'm trying to establish in this case.
I've set the height to 100%, shouldn't it always take the height of the stage, it's parent?[code]....
I am working on an Adobe AIR (2.0) application that contains a feature to allow users to print documents (such as salary slips). Those documents are originally in PDF format. Due to circumstances we cannot directly display those PDFs in the AIR application (for example using flash.html.HTMLLoader). Therefore we convert the PDFs to SWFs (using the pdf2swf tool, see The SWFs are loaded into the application using a mx.controls.SWFLoader, like so:
I work on a Flex application that creates compressed files and uploads them on a server. The files are created with ByteArray.compress method, which is zlib compression. I can decompress them using Python API on the server but I prefer to keep the files compressed there. I want to be able to download and decompress the files later, however WinZip and WinRar fail to decompress them. When I google for zlib utility, I only find zlib dll library. I need a simple application for Windows (and/or Linux)
I'm creating a map that has points of interest. (POI) When a user mouses over the POI an info bubble pops onto the screen and it loads an swf. I can't detect the size of the swf so that my infobubble will size itself to the size of the swf. When I mouse over my swf file, it disappears. I would love to have the my swf file pop up in a layer on its own instead of being on the stage of my main flex file...
I compile my Flex application with several swc's (libraries) and it creates a swf file. The sum of the swc's is roughly 4 MB yet the actual swf generated is only 1.6 MB. How is this possible?
I have a flex tree control bound to an xml data from the database. I have item renderers for the tree items. My concern is, when my tree item size is huge, if I scroll using the mouse, it scrolls in 4-5 items at a time. I need it to scroll item by item. When it scrolls 4-5 items at a time, there seems to be a rendering issue as I have overriden lot of properties of treeitemrenderer and also the custom control i have put into the item renderer
I have built an image cache which is an ArrayCollection containing images. I have built functionality so that the cache can hold a max of 250 images. However, the images can be of a different size, so it's better to limit the total memory size of all images in the ArrayCollection. How I can get the total memory size of an ArrayCollection without looping through all the items in the ArrayCollection?
I've created a AS3 class which extends UIComponent so that I can easily add it to my MXML layout. It works fine, but I'm trying to figure out how to update the UIComponent width and height dynamically. I want my super UIComponent to draw a border around the content, so I need get the specific 'content' dimensions in order to do this.
I understand the idea of UIComponent is that you are supposed to specifically set the width and height... but I am literally only extending it so that I am able to use my custom component with MXML easily. Is there a method in which I can get the width and height of a UIComponents 'content'?
Recently i worked in a project where i used 5 radio button to select a page number. Now the clients wants a big radio button. how can i increase the size of radio button in flex?
I'd like to get the actual height of a component after adding some children.
When inspecting the variables tab in debug mode, I see 2 different height variables:$height (which contains the correct value: 138) and height/_height (which contains a wrong value: 10).
I guess that the display is not updated and so I'm not getting the correct height using component.height, but how can I get the value in $height?
