Flash :: Optimize Loading Of Hd .flv Video With Large Size

Apr 2, 2011

There is a simple html page with intro video (.mp4 file). Video frame size is 1280*1024 (I need video to be as large as page up to 1280 px).

With such quality settings video file size is:

.mp4 = 42 mb (HD 1690*1080)
.flv = 32 mb (1280*1024, 25 fps)

For video playing I used as3 sample script (because there must be only playpause, replay, mute buttons with custom styles), like that

var strSource:String = "video.flv";
// create a new net connection, add event listener and connect
// to null because we don't have a media server

[Code]....

The problem is that I can't find a way to play it smoothly. It's loading in very annoying way, video is interrupted after each few seconds of playing.

I understand that the main problem is large video file size and hd quality, but may be there is some way to largely decrease .flv size or handle playback in more friendly way?

Flex :: Large Serifs In A Font Cause Flash To Measure Size Incorrectly?

Nov 2, 2009

I have a textarea where I measure the textWidth and textHeight to make sure the user cannot enter more text than can fit in the text area. I also extended the textArea with a textHeightNow and textWidthNow that measure the textField's dimensions since they update w/out requiring validation. Now this works great for 90% of the embedded fonts I'm using but any fonts that have giant serifs are not measured properly, for instance look at the 'f's in this text area:You can see they get cut off on both sides because textWidth and textWidthNow both return an incorrect size not taking into account the massive serifs.

Php :: Flash Uploader To Upload Large Files?

I need a flash uploader, to use it in my CMS project. I need something like this, but with greater max upload size (it doesn't allow to upload files larger ini_get('upload_max_filesize')).

My server doesn't allow me to overwrite ini settings, so I'm looking for an uploader which can upload large files independently from the ini settings.

Flash 10 :: CS4 Crashing With Large Transparent PNG Files

Dec 29, 2010

I'm working together with some designers to build a project in flash CS4. They normally send me their work as either jpg's or png files. When importing a sequence of png files I find that flash slows down considerably... but not only that, when I try to copy and paste a symbol that contains transparent png in their timeline it crashes. For instance if I select a frame which contains a movieclip with png's inside from the general timeline, and try to paste that frame on another layer I will get a message of Flash stopped working and eventually it just closes down. I tried this on a version of Flash CS5 and it also has the same problem but worse, as soon as you press Control + C the whole thing closes down. I'm suspecting this is caused by large transparent png files, but I'm not sure.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Retaining Order Of Files Loaded Externally From Large XML Files

Jul 18, 2006

I was messing around with some old examples, and I ran into an unfinished example where several 30k-100k XML files are loaded and stored as a string into an Array. The code looks basically like:[code]Basically, when I trace the 'this', the order of the files that are loaded is off. Out of about 10 tries, about 3 times the order is perfect. The remaining 7 times, the order is a bit off. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to ensure the files are loaded prior to the next file being loaded? I tried placing a while loop that basically delays the clock for a few milliseconds, and that didn't work either. Besides, that is not really a good solution to arbitrarily waste clock cycles.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Large (7.3MB) Embedded .flv In .swf?

Apr 3, 2010

I have had to embed a large .flv (7.3 MB) into a .swf. Wondered if there were any special tricks to help reduce file size.It is a 3d flip book. The reason I need to embed is I need to be able to run the playhead backwards through the timeline to animate (via caurina tween engine) returning to previous pages.Link can be found below.http://tangram-preview.li/lla_online_test/Choose 'DE' as the language, and when the main site pops up choose the 'Interaktive LLA Broschüre' link on left vertical scrolling nav.Notice due to size that it plays very slow in the floatbox. In a normal swfobject HTML it plays fine.

Actionscript 3 :: Change The Size Of The Embedded Flash?

May 13, 2011

I created a simple program that displays the current time on the screen.

When I embed this object on a web page, it takes the whole screen leaving a lot of blank space. To avoid this I tried setting the height and width using two methods:

1) I did <embed src="time.swf" **height="100"** **width="100"**>

2) I tried stage.scaleX=.5;
stage.scaleY=.5;

But both of these solutions also decrease the size of my text.

So, my question is that is there a way to decrease the dimensions of the swf file, without scaling the text and other components in flash

Flash :: Find Natural Size / Dimensions Of SWF File?

I've been given a Flash file (.swf extension) to put into a web page. Opening the file in my browser makes it quite blurry, so I'm assuming there is a natural size for the file, same as an image.

It's also rectangular so I need to work out the aspect ratio if I don't have an exact size. How would I find this information out?

Actionscript 3 :: Find Where Size Is Coming From In Flash's Bandwidth Profiler?

Feb 21, 2012

I'm working on a Flash CS5/AS3 pre loader, and the bandwidth profiler is telling me that my frame 1 size is massive - about 850kb. Frame 2 is 128kb. This results in a white screen during the bulk of loading, followed by the brief and now-unecessary preloader, and then the rest of the swf.

I have a setup of two frames, the first being the preloader with the following code:

stop();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, preLoad)
function preLoad(event:Event):void{
var bytestoLoad:Number = loaderInfo.bytesTotal;

[Code].....

The .as file associated with the fla has tons of other information, a full game.

I've already gone through my library and on all the symbols with Linkage, unchecked the "Export in Frame 1". Also the pre-loader is small, only a text box and a shape.

How can I get more detail of it's loading in frame 1 so that I can move it to frame 2?

when i exported the swf it was of 83 kb (too huge) and i checked it was all due to shapes in the mask layer....

i found "eltima swf optimizer" on internet but it gives only black and white output in the demo version ....

i opmitized all shapes one by one by using modify>shape>optimize using 100% optimization but when i exported swf this time was 114kb(even more) this sux!!!

my question is that is there any other "swf optimizer" that i can use for free.. (hey its my school project and i just need to mask a single jpeg)

Flash :: Find The Size Of The Area In A Bitmap Which Has Been Filled Using The Bitmapdata.floodfill Method?

Sep 27, 2011

I am using the floodfill method to colour-in sections of a bitmap image. That part is easy enough but the issue comes in with the way I am adding an effect to the colour fill routine.

To add the effect, first a copy of the bitmap data is created and floodfill is used on that instead of the original bitmap. Then the bitmapdata.compare method is used to set the alpha value of everything apart from the filled-in section to 0 and the result is saved in another bitmapdata. After that, a 1 px radius circle sprite is added to the stage and is being tweened to the image dimensions and its mask is set to the sprite which contains the result of the compare operation.

This works perfectly except for the fact that the fill sprite has to be tweened to the complete image dimensions irrespective of how small the area is being coloured-in since I am not able to find a way to get the dimensions of the fill area. I am doing an bitmap image update at the end of the tween and I have to disable user interaction till the tween is complete to avoid the errors which come in if another fill-in operation is started before the base image has been updated. If I could somehow get the dimensions of the fill area then the time during which I have to disable the user interaction will go down considerably.

Flash :: Exporting Embedded Video Files?

Sep 4, 2009

I am new to Flash and this may sound, well dumb but here it goes.  I have taken some video files from Final Cut Pro converted them to FLV's imported them and embedded them into flash to create some banners for the web.  I need to know what settings I should use to get these out of Flash for the web.

Also I need to send them to someone to look at before publishing.  What would be the best format to do that in and how to do it.

Also has anyone has any experience creating banners in or online ads in a Video format like FCP and embedding them into a flash file to export them in flash for we publishing.  Sorry again for the dumb question, just new to Flash.

Flash :: Protect Images Embedded In Swf Files?

Jan 19, 2011

I need to protect images embedded in a swf file. I've noticed Swf Encrypt scrambles the images, like so:

How is something like this achieved ? How does image scrambling work ? I've noticed the image is stored a bitmap. Not sure how information is stored.I imagine it would be possible to use something like AS3SWF to access the content of a swf, but what would I need to change for the image swf tags ? I don't know much about security/obfuscation/encryption, so any tips will be handy. The programming language for this shouldn't matter much.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Moment And The File Size Is Getting Really Large?

Sep 5, 2004

I'm working on a final schoolproject at the moment and the file size is getting really large... Because I might update this project later with more footage, I've already put a lot of code on the buttons which I have put between comment tags for now, so I'll be able to update it later easily.

The max on our project is 10MB, now there is a lot of external footage like sound and video, but still all the flash files together are taking up a lot of space.

Does anyone know if a lot of comments in the code have any effect on file size?

JavaScript :: Embedded Flash MP3 Player Slow On Some Files

Jan 19, 2010

I am using a embeddable Flash based MP3 player (The standalone Version of Wordpress Audio Player, to be exact) to play audio on the web page of a client. Given the nature of Flash based players - AFAIK they all use Flash's audio/video decoding libraries - the exact player product might not matter, though. She complains that some specific audio files sometimes tend to play slowly, as if on a tape deck that doesn't run at full speed. Her machine is a 5 year old Sony Vaio with a 1.5 GhZ Pentium M Processor.

So it's not top of the line anymore but it should not have trouble decoding anything, let alone a MP3 audio stream. I can't verify the problem because we can't set up an audio connection (slow Internet on a remote island), nor can I reproduce it on my 3.3 GhZ dual-code Workstation, but this is a person whose error reports have seldom turned out unfounded in the past, so I tend to take them seriously. I see differences between the encodings of the MP3 files (see below). Any pointers towards which setting(s) to change?

This is what Winamp tells me about a file that is sometimes slow:
MPEG-1 Layer 3
128 Kbit, approx. 966 frames
48000Hz Stereo
CRC: Yes, Copyright: No

This is what Winamp tells me about a file that is never slow:
Encoder delay: 576, Zero Padding: 1584
MPEG-1 Layer 3
151 Kbit (VBR), 12405 Frames
44100Hz Joint Stereo
CRC: No, Copyright: No

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preloading Large Files?

Sep 17, 2010

I've built loads of preloaders in AS2 before. However I never ecountered so many problems as now. I'm confused about many things with preloading in AS3. This is my layout:I have a single frame on the first scene of my movie. The main content is inside a movieClip called container, placed on frame 1 of my next scene, which inherits from the class that holds the main code to initialize the game.(I read that this way my code will not try to access any movieClips, or sprites before they have been loaded... as they are not actually referenced from a document class).However my 1st frame where I have my preloader takes ages to load... My first question is... Does this happen because the loading procedure is different now? Or has it always worked like this... so that would mean that as I have many heavy assets in my library that are meant to load on frame 1. (Exported for actionscript in properties).I have a blank movie for a while. I'm using a simple code:

stop()
import flash.events.*;
this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PRO GRESS, Loading);
