I'm displaying my text. However, I want the balloon to be exactly above the data point. I tried to change the (x,y) coordinates but it doesn't seem to change. How can I move this balloon around to a desired location?
I have a datgrid with two inline item renderers. The dataprovider for my DG is a nested object (objects within objects within objects i.e 3-layered). Main Object - 1st Level

I use 2 item renderers (one for each datagrid column) which loops thro the 2nd level object1 and 2 respectively (the 2nd level object is a dynamic array of objects, in that the number of objects within keep changing). Within the item renderer I loop thro the 2nd level object using a foreach and then display the data. The data is a linkbutton, which when clicked , calls a remote object function to delete the data from the database
now on the result event of the remote object function call, i call the function to repopulate the DG, so that the updated data is displayed. When i click on the linkbutton in the first row, the backend works perfectly fine (the data gets deleted from the database and the refreshed data is sent back), but for some reason, the deleted data suddenly appears in the 2nd row. When i delete it from the second row, it appears on the 3rd row (nothing happens in the backend since the data is already deleted).. and so on, till it appears on the last row and then the DG looks exactly the way it shld have looked after the first delete.
This is just the beginning. The second item renderer also displays a linkbutton, which when clicked, displays that data in the previous column (the one where this data can be deleted). When i click on 1st row, the data gets added in the previous column of the second row. and so on.. Basically, my DG is acting really weird. I overrided the set data function in the item renderer to refrsh the data and called its invalidateDisplayList. I also call the Datagrid's invalidateDisplayList function after each refresh. The behavior remains the same.

For example, I've created 2 horizontal lists with different heights: 50px and 100px. I'd like to use 1 item renderer to display both. The item renderer has to create square items, so it has to produce 50x50 items for the first list and 100x100 items for the second one. How should I set up the item renderer to get the result?

I'm trying to get the menu width of a menu item in flex 4. I can get it but I have to show the menu first, then hide the menu, do a calculation, and show it again. Is there an easier way to get the item menu width without this hassle?
View 1 RepliesI've been playing with s:ComboBox and generally like them a lot. One detail is driving me nuts though - most likely due to my lack of knowledge in the subject - is that if I try to add a new item to my dataprovider in a changeHandler (registered to the change event) the text for the ComboBox textInput disappears - although the item addition works perfectly. Interestingly enough the same operation works fine if it gets called by clicking on a button, i.e. post the change event has been processed, and the text does not disappear.[code]if you take out the change handler you will see that adding a new item and then clicking on the button keeps the new element in the textInput while adding the item to the data provider, which does not happen if you just enter a new item and press enter.
View 1 RepliesI have an issue with Spark Lists whereby I am trying to ensure that an item is always selected and ensure that the GUI displays this to the user.
The application (full code below) creates a List, a Label and a Button. The Label states what is selected in the List. The button removes the selected item. Changing the selection, updates the text in the Label. Important: The List has "requireSelection" set to true to ensure that an item is always selected.
If I select the first item in the List, the selection is correctly reflected in the label. Clicking "Remove" removes the item and the next item is selected. This is all working correctly.[code]...

My data grid is displaying stale data, rather than the real time data available in it's data provider (array collection). I've tried refeshing the data in the collection, but that has no effect. Below is my code, does anyone see what could be the problem?

Is it possible to read numbers and names from a Flash page before they are rendered by the browser ? The webpage is changing dynamically and I would like to capture the data every about 60 minutes. I have no access to the Flash website but I might be able to modify an open source browser. OS is Win 7 and I can speak a little C++.

I've followed the Flex in a week example, with the drop down menu that pairs the XML data to the XML node set.For the project I am creating, I am just pulling through ONE XML file containing just one node into my application.I am using HTTPService and pulling the data through, but at present the only way for this to work is by using the <s:DropDownList>[code]
View 1 RepliesI have a custom dataGrid that acts more like a 2D list (if that makes sense at all). I am dynamically creating the columns and recreating the dataProvider to suit my needs. While debugging I can see that I am creating the columns and setting them to the dataGrid and creating and setting the dataProvider, but for some reason I am able to see the dataGrid and the columns but not the data.

I'm working on a flash cards application and am using an ArrayCollection of Objects to store each cards individual data. When the user click the 'save' button, the text from the two textAreas and the 'title' textinput are stored in the AC as one object with .title, .side1 and .side2 properties that contain the text from the flash card. I have made a List in a separate class I want to have display the title of each card the user has created, but after days of researching and looking around, I still cannot get the display to list the titles.

In this app that has an inline item editor, if you click on a location cell then press tab, the value in the location cell is wiped out.
focusOut doesn't work, nor could I get this to work in DataGrid itemEditEnding etc.

I have some DataGrid with editable rows, which has also an option to add new row 'dynamically'. I mean, last row has some default data (e.g. "CLICK HERE TO ADD NEW ROW") and when user clicks on it, he can edit that value and new row will be eventually inserted.
However, I also have a column in same DataGrid which doesn't come from DataGrid's DataProvider. That column is used to delete specific row and it should only display clickable image with associated mouse click action (within custom itemRenderer).

I've a custom itemRenderer for my datagrid. To set the actual data I use the following method:

As soon as I use this function the cell doesn't show up any item Editor anymore. Why is that? When I remove this function the itemEditor is working but with the wrong initialization data.

View 3 RepliesI have a Flex tree with an ArrayCollection as data provider. The collection holds an array of CategoryVO objects. Each object can have another array of CategoryVO objects inside it's "child" attribute. This way the tree displays the data correctly. Now I want to get the parent of a specific item, e.g. tree.selectedItem. Using XML as data provider the item parent is avaiable thorugh the parent() method. But I can't convert my data to XML. How can I get an item's parent? Perphaps using the tree's dataDescriptor?
View 2 RepliesYou can hook into the creation of Flex 4 item renderers easily enough (through itemRenderer, or itemRendererFunction) allowing you to pull renderers from a custom object pool, but how would you put those renderers back into the pool?
I understand that layout virtualization does a form of object pooling, but I'd like a way to hook in to that. For example, when an itemRendererFunction has been assigned to a data group with a virtualized layout, item renderer construction is indeed deferred, but the instances are not re-used - I'd like to be able to intervene there, if possible.
But even in the case of normal virtualized renderers (where the instances are re-cycled) it would still be useful to be able to manage the pool manually. Pools could be shared between data groups, for example, to reduce the initial buffer required to populate each group.
Is there any way to know when Flex discards an item renderer instance? I have a sinking feeling that there is just no reliable way to tell - even though perhaps there should be.
