When the dates come from dynamics text itīs no problem, bad when come from input text the dates are treated like strings and itīs impossible to order correctly, because 15 is considered less than 3. And so on for multiple people who are all asked the same 13 questions (q0 - q12).I am trying to push these into an array in action script like so:

(NOTE: the array questions[] contains strings of all the questions and the xml file contains the answers in case that wasn't clear) However this is not working. I know there must be a way to do this rather than getting all the questions individually without a for() loop.
I am currently making a quiz game and have an XML file which stores all the questions/answers.I then load the xml, and put all of the info into multiple arrays.

So, how would I edit the code to make the questions appear in a random order? i.e. Make the currentQuestionNumber be random while not repeating itself.Also, is it possible to make the answers appear in a random order on the screen? For example, instead of the "answer1array" element always appearing at the top and the "answer4array" element appearing at the bottom, is there a way to mix things up a bit?
So I'm loading in an external swf using typical code from a tutorial or something, and I want to have a menu button that sits on top of the external swf. When this button is clicked, the external swf is closed and my program continues. I have everything working, except that I cannot seem to figure out how to get the button on top of the swf.
Since the external swf is created via code, but the button has been manually created in flash, they aren't children of the same displayobject, so I can't seem to use the setChildIndex() call. I either need to figure out how to load the external swf into a manually created movie clip, or I need to create a copy of my menu button and create a duplicate of it as a sibling of the external swf; neither of which I know how to do.
I should build a web application for back-office purposes and one of the main requisites is a good UI. On server-side I'll use Java very likely Spring framework, depending on what I'll be using client-side. I think to basically have 3 choices for client-side: a "normal" web application, meaning JSP pages, using JQuery framework. In this case, I will use full Spring's features, complete MVC pattern etc. I've been using Spring and JQuery for 2 years, so I know these techs very well. But I also know that it's quite complicated to realize some effects, much javascript code involved, specially when dealing with ajax calls and dynamic changes of page structure.
Flex with add-ons such as BlazeDs to integrate with Spring. I have no experience using Flex, I just read some articles and tutorial about it, but I really would like to learn something new :-) Google Web Toolkit, maybe with something like gwt-ext. No experience, but I really like to learn. It's plenty of support out there if I need, but I think I will struggle to maintain Spring MVC and GWT in the same project, I read that it's not so easy but there are a couple of patterns to follow.

View 3 RepliesI have a TileList which represents some remote data. I also have a form which allows me to change the data. And the data may be changed by someone else too.
What is the best way to maintain data in the list in an up-to-date state? The simplest option I see is the following:
Select an item in the list Edit it in the form Save it. The form submits the data to the server When the server reports success the list re-fetches it's data The very bad thing about this workflow is that the list loses selection (a tree would also loose the nodes' expanded/collapsed state). I would really love to find out another option which would enable the list to maintain it's selection state.
I have flexlib WindowShade component in repeater in my Flex + AIR application.

Now in button1 click handler I am appending child in XML(mainMenuXML) resulting adding one more windowshade instance. But the problem is it opens all the windowshade instances. I need to maintain the opened states after adding a new windowshade instance.
For example:
Initially I get 3 windoshades with labels: abc, xyz, lmn all opened.
Now I close the xyz windowshade instance(by clicking on the header)
Now I click on button which appends child in mainMenuXML and also add a windowshade instance with some label "pqr". But now I see all the windowshade instances opened.
But it should be like abc, lmn, pqr should be opened & xyz closed(property opened="false").
How to maintain the opened true/false state of windowshade instances. I tried to add a property in dataprovider Bindable to opened property of windhowshade but didn't worked for me.

I've just recently started out using Flash Builder and have a question surrounding states. In fact I'm not entirely sure it is related to states but read on and I hope it will become clearer. I currently have a custom component that contains 3 comboboxes. This resides in a TabNavigator component. The TabNavigator consits of 5 pages (Tabs). The custom container holding the comboboxes should display the same selected data across all Tabs. ie. If I am in Tab1 and select an item from one of the comboboxes then click on Tab2 I need to mirror the combobox's selection in Tab2.

Given a timestamp, I want to iterate over the dictionary starting from the given timestamp key value.
The Docs discuss the following for dictionary iteration, but this iterates from the first key-value pair.

I've noticed that when debugging using the eclipse flash builder plugin, one cannot drill in to the key set / values of a flash.utils.Dictionary in the Variables view. Even after selecting the "Show Logical Structure" button. Does anyone else run into this issue? Is there anyway I could see the see all of the keys / values when debugging (apart from writing a loop to do this or manually testing possible keys in the Expressions view)?

I have a component called a TableDataViewer that contains the following pieces of data and their associated set functions:[code]This component is nested in another component as follows:[code]Looking at the trace in the logs, the call to set table is coming before the call to set dataSetLoader. Which is a real shame because set table() needs dataSetLoader to already be set in order to call its load() function.So my question is, is there a way to enforce an order on the calls to the set functions when declaring a component?
View 1 RepliesI've got a component written for my app by a third party developer and am trying to integrate it, but I've found a bug that seems like it's either a compiler bug, or there's something with how Flex and static variables work that I wasn't aware of.Basically, I have this:

If I use //V2 (i.e. comment out V1), a bug occurs at the startup of the application (some TextFields are uneditable and contains no text), but with //V1 and not V2, it works fine. If I comment out both, that also works fine (I don't get the TextField bug).It took me a while to figure out that it was that static const String that was causing the issue, but I'm still not sure why or if there's something I can do about it except for just moving the DISPLAY_MODE to Events (which is what I've done at the moment, but it's not a particularly nice solution).There are no errors in the log. The order of the includes in my BorderContainer code doesn't matter. I've googled for "as3/flex static initialization order" but haven't found anything.
Clarification: showInitialView() never gets called. It doesn't get there before the other bug shows up. Just having the V2 line there causes the problem.
Update: I've fixed my problem with the TextInput strings not showing: Turns out that adding the component caused the Tahoma font to not show up. However, setting the font-weight to bold fixed that problem, or switching to Arial. With that said, the original question still stands, because when I ran it without V2, it found Tahoma with normal font-weight.
I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
I am having difficulty getting a reference to elements added after compile-time using the 'id' property. I have seen a few forum topics suggesting that this isn't possible, and that getting a reference to elements added this way is trickier, but never just exactly what that trick is. This code throws a fun little: Error: uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject! The flex DataGrid colums are arranged alphabetically by default. I need to order the DataGrid colums as per the order in its dataProvider. The dataprovider is the result of the HTTPService . And the number of columns is not known to us . The number of columns depends on the HTTPService result.
