View 2 RepliesI have a function ( basically its the click on a reset buttons ) that sets back quite a loooooot of variables and text boxes. But after ( I think 200 lines ) , actionscript simply stops with that particular function and doesnt even give me an error.So it looks like there is a lines per function limit or something like that.I also tried it with an external .as but its the same.Creating functions for all these commands didnt work either.The only thing I can do is move a few lines up so that they get processed earlier.... ( but the last few still don't work )I even tried to make a function with 300 lines of myTextField.text = "hello"and a line: myTextField.text = "how are you" at the endDidnt work... it stayed at hello.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to limit the number of lines people can enter in an input textfield. I tried stuff with maxScroll, but that doesn't check if people press enter, so i end up with too many lines of text. I then looked at maxChars, but it's no use either, because users can still enter as many lines as they want.Is there no way you can combine maxChars and maxScroll? there also is "textfield.onScroller" which checks if the textfield is being scrolled. Can't i use an eventhandler based on onScroller? Like:[code]this results in people not being able to edit messages anymore after they reach the end of the textfield.I have no idea how to limit the number of lines in an input textfield. Anyone?

Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?

Is there a way to do the same thing in the Flash Builder? EDIT: Ok, i'll to explain better. Is there a way to execute some code in the middle of the debug session? Like in python you can type in console in pydev(eclipse) when the program is paused(being debugged) and run any code you want.

But what I am interested to achieve is to suppress run time warnings (especially binding warnings - since I am getting data in model mostly in XML structures and it is fine for me if its unable to bind to its nested child nodes) in console (I am working on flex on Eclipse with the flex plug in). Is there a way to achieve it?

View 4 RepliesI am taking XML type variables in model and binding with component properties in action script code. Its perfectly fine if its unable to bind the child nodes or other sibling properties of the XML itself and I dont want eclipse to generate this run time warning! I did suppress warnings in flex compiler using "-show-binding-warnings=false". But that does not seem to be working for run time binding warnings.

Any example of a telnet/chat or other console like FLEX application where you can use the same TextArea as input/ouput area. I've been trying to modify the app at: [URL] but so far, computer says no. All the implementations I've seen use a combination of TextInput and TextArea.
The challenge is that we'll be using this app to telnet into some old routers and we'll need to do a fair amount of copy/pasting. Based on what I've seen, it seems that I would need to point the mouse into the TextInput in order to be able to right click and paste, which is not very sleak.....
How can I increase the _height property of a window without increase the height of the title and the bar at the top of the window ?

When setting up a source control repository for a Flex Builder workspace, what do you consider to be worth checking in? Do you exclude the workspace .metadata folder but keep the .project and other project specific files? Keep both? Throw away both? Is there a guideline you use to decide which is worth holding onto or do you do it out of practical experience?
View 2 RepliesFrom the Flash player specification, it supported up to 15/16 or 32 sounds in a buffer, which mean any more sounds is load beyond that limit will either caused buffer stop working.
Is there any class to override to increase sounds to 1024 or greater?
I'm loading and displaying a large image say 6000 x 6000 px using an image tag. I wanted to take a snapshot of the image. But the maximum limit I get is 2880 px dimensions using Flex 4, flash player 10. Didn't the limit of FP 10 increased to 4096 px? Then why am I getting 2880? Is there a way to increase that size.

We are in the middle to evaluate the technology choice to re-design an operator console application. The operator console as a hosted contact center has the abilities to queue the inactive calls, and hold, answer, transfer the active calls.
The legacy operator console used Java Swing. We want to use the latest RIA technology (Flex/Silverlight) to retire the legacy one. But the question is Flex/Silverlight can implement the functions like hold, transfer the calls? Based on my experiences, Flex can listen Java socket to receive XML data? Does it work well to receive voice data?
I've made an animation showing the constellation Orion in 3D (see attached swf). As you can see, it's working properly, displaying stars and lines connecting those stars. The depth scaling is ok. The animation also responds to mouse movements as it should.The problems occur when I embed the swf in Flex using Flex Builder (I posted this question on the Flex forum as well, but I suspect the problem is more AS related than Flex 3 related): the stars of the constellation are visible, the animation responds to mouse movements, depth scaling is OK...but the lines connecting the stars aren't visible. Feel free to make the comparison for yourself.So any suggestions how I can make the lines visible? From a video on AdobeTV, I tried to play with example empWeb (LiveCycle Data Services).In Flex Builder 3 (FB3) everything works fine. When I tried this on Flash Builder 4.0 Beta (FB4) it doesn't work. When I replaced original xmlns declarations (2009, spark, halo)with declarations from FB3 (2006) it works. Could you explain why?I'm using the default SDKs (Flex 3.2 for FB3 and Flex 4.0 for FB4). I investigated this (please see 3 source code examples). View 1 RepliesI have a Flex module created in Flash Builder 4 as a swf file. I am trying to load and run in within a Flash application. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.

I just got CS5 master suite which includes Flash Builder 4 and Flash CS5 Pro. When I create a new AIR app in CS5 pro it says "AIR 2" but when I create a new AIR project in Flash Builder I do not see anything indicating that it is AIR 2 or 1.5?
Is there a way to tell which AIR runtime it is using?
I am using Flash Builder 4 on my MAC. Flex SDK 4.0. Flash Player 10.1.By executing this code below I only see the trace saying "start". And if I look at the Declaration of the ENTER_FRAME is see the error saying: "Source could not be found for flash.events.Event.Enter_Frame in...."But the playerglobal.swc source is there, and I have tried different SDK versions and FP versions.If this is a Flash Builder problem I can not be the only one having this issue?[code]

View 1 RepliesI'm setting up a build system for a Flash Builder 4 (Flex 4) based project; and I'm struggling to get a setup that compiles in the IDE the same as it does from the command line on the build server.I come from a C# background; and my expectation is that I'll be able to create a "solution" with a collection of "projects" that I can compile from the IDE, or from the command line on the build server.The best I've managed sofar is 2 separate build "scripts", a custom ant script for the build server, and the default Flash Builder IDE config based on a workspace; but this is making my DRY daemons jump around in fury.

View 1 RepliesI've been working in Flash BUilder 4.0. I installed Flash Builder 4.5, and switched to the workspace I had used for 4.0. Then we were told to go back to 4.0, and now I can't run or debug. I can build, but then I have to double click on the .html file to run. Right clicking doesn't bring up run or debug, and the run and debug icons are not in my toolbar.
