I am looking for the best approach for making artwork for this project as it is crossed platform. Right now I am thinking to separate backend logic from front-end i.e put layout for every platform separately.

Nov 17, 2011I'm trying to create a simple interactive image map where the user would be able to hover the mouse pointer over a part of the image and the setup would in turn animate/show/unhide a pop-up box (not new window!) next to the mouse pointer's current position containing text, images, &| clickable links. However, in the example, it is not an image map, but 9 small images. Each image becomes a bit larger when hovered over, and when clicked, loads the image into the right of the page. I'm looking to satisfy these criteria: I want to use an image map (HTML or other) instead of 9 small images I want the hovering action to also load the image - remove the need to click the image I want the page to be viewable & interactive from all popular viewers - desktop browsers, mobile browsers, iPads, Android tablets, etc... I'm not sure what platform (aka - mix of dev tools) to use in order to satisfy the list of criteria above. The main goal is for the last item in the list of criteria above to be satisfied. I could probably sacrifice the first or second criteria from the list above if that's what needs to be done in order to satisfy the last item. The couple of "platforms" I thought of using were: HTML + CSS jQuery + CSS Flash + Actionscript Javascript + AJAX What set of tools should I use to pull this off?

Sep 27, 2011I have an application I built in Flash that runs with no problems on Windows and OSX. I'd like to extend it to mobile platforms and I want to be able to call programs written in the native language of each platform.
I understand that Flex can be used on mobile platforms and that it can call native code, but I'm a little confused by what I've read about Flex. Can I use the Adobe Flash development environment to build Flex applications? Will our users need the Adobe Air runtime to run the programs? And what the heck does Air add to the capabilities? We need strong audio and video capabilities, a built-in database is not a requirement.

Apr 16, 2012So, here is the question. I have a small flash application that sends some variables to a php script (via POST), and that php script sends them to a mySQL database.
This works fine when I'm testing my flash offline, I go to phpmyadmin, and the registry is done. When I upload the swf to a online html, this stops working. It no longer creates another registry in the database. I have no ideia why this happens.
I read a bit about it and found out about cross domain policy, and thought it might be the problem. Thus I made a small .xml file and uploaded it to both servers (the one the swf is on, and the one that has the database), and its still not working.

Jun 8, 2011My team is in the planning phase of a multiplatform mobile app. We're considering Adobe Air/Flex or Appcelerator Titanium instead of native development, but will eventually be needing to use an external API that is ported to iOS and Android. **(one that harnesses the device's camera)The idea would be to use platform detection and overloaded classes to determine which platform version of the API to import. Is something like this possible in either Adobe or Appcelerator? If so, would the native Objective-C or Java need to somehow be wrapped in Actionscript (if Adobe) or JavaScript (if Titanium)

In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

Aug 29, 2011I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

Dec 8, 2009I have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.

Sep 1, 2010I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
