I'm trying to display some simple information in an Alert (I'd rather not use an alert, but I need a fast n' simple solution for a project that's got to be out the door asap)
how large I make the alert, my information never stretches out, and ends up being clipped.
I can actually scroll through the text with the mousewheel, but that's no good.
The image says it all. I can't imagine Alert just doesn't handle this.

Code:
var myAlert:Alert = Alert.show("The package you have selected includes a feature(s) you've already selected. We have removed the individual features for you."); myAlert.height = 150*2; myAlert.width = 350*2;
I have created a Flex custom preloader, exactly like it is done in this example: [URL]
Now when I implement this, is seems to work fine on my computer in FireFox and Chrome. I publish it on the server, refresh my cache and reload the application and I do get my customized preloader.
But on a friend's computer, the screen stays white for a while, and then for a second or so it shows the preloader, but the indicator is at 100%.
So the loading already happened before it showed the preloader.
I have a Flex application that builds and runs from Eclipse without any problems. I've created an Ant build based on the sample provided by Adobe and builds the application and packages it up into an AIR application. No errors occur during the build process and an AIR file is created.The problem is that when I install the AIR application and run it, there is no UI at all. The process is running because I can see it in Task Manager but I can't see the app window. I've commented out all of my initial code so just the first window should appear but still nothing.
For the application that I am developing in AIR, I have removed the chrome through the app.xml. I am managing the features of minimizing, maximizing, close, resize and all other functions from within the application. I am facing a problem with resize feature. I have defined the grips for resizing and also I am able to display my custom cursor when mouse moves over it. The problem is that only the part of this cursor is visible which lies inside the boundary of the application rest of the cursor image is hidden.For implementing the custom cursor, I do the following.Embed the cursor image.
[Embed(source='/resources/images/resize_right.png')] public var resizeRight:Class;
Add the event listener to the canvas that acts as a grip.
I have an image that doesn't fill the <mx:Image> tag because it's not the exact dimensions (it is too short) and I have maintainAspectRatio set to true:
The <mx:Image> tag has a fixed width and height (it's 100% of the tile size--this is in an ItemRenderer). How do I get the image to sit on the bottom of the <mx:Image> tag?
I'm currently learning to make facebook apps with Flex from here:[URL] I've done step 6 in "Upload the application to your web server" section which is to upload the Flex files in bin-debug folder via FTP and run it, but the facebook apps just doesn't show on the webserver I use. here is where I uploaded the files:[URL]I can't locate the problem, is it because the webhosting or what?
I have an (empty) ArrayCollection that I wrap with a ListCollectionView. Then I add a series of items to the ArrayCollection, but these are not showing up in the view.
public var transactions : ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); public var filteredTransactions : ListCollectionView = new ListCollectionView(transactions);
transactions contains 150 items, filteredTransactions contains none. I originally thought it was the filter I was applying, but even when I remove the filter, I still get no items in the filtered list.
Do I need to add the items to the view as well as the underlying collection (this would seem to defeat the purpose of using a view though...)?
I would like to know if there is a way to drag and drop an attachment file from an outlook email that is open into an AIR application and for that file to be then accessible to the AIR application. When I experimented with this the drag operation is giving AIR a File Promise List. But I'm not exactly sure how to make use of it once it is dropped. All the examples out there explain how to manupilate File Promises from an AIR application to the desktop. Nothing that explains a file promise into an AIR app.
I have firefox 3.6.15 with flash debug version 10.3. whenever an error occurs a popups comes up with the error and a stack trace but it does not line numbers of each leaf in the stack trace which makes it more difficult to debug. how to configure it to actually show line numbers ?
I think it may relate to how I compile my flash application. (i think!) i use eclipse FDT 4.2 to compile and i added the following compiler flags: -debug=true -compiler.verbose-stacktraces i think these parameters should be enough but I may be wrong.
I created a demo where when you roll over parts of the product, in the white space to the left it displays the text information about that part of the product. The rollovers work great, however if you run your mouse over the blank area (where the rollovers would show up), it treats that as the rollover too. Below is the URL for the test page.
i"m hoping someone can help me with this I'm working with a slide show that has products of different widths. The idea is to make sure that when user clickes on the next/back buttons and the next (or prev) product shows up - to make sure that the product is not clipped either on left of stage (or live area) or right..
This sounds quite ridiculous but my space bar doesn't want to work in Flash CS3. I'm a web designer and started recently for a new company. They asked me to include a flash image on one of our websites. When I try to add text to the stage, I can't make spaces. That is all. I've used flash before and I've never ran into this problem
To load 3 files locally into the Flash Player, one might using something like this manage the sequence after the user has chosen the files...
private function uploadList(evt:Event):void{ var arr:Array = fileReferenceList.fileList; for each(var item:FileReference in arr){ item.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onFileLoadComplete); item.load();
I made a particle generator that spawns bubbles... the particle spawner is a movieclip and all particles are children to it... this spawner is then loaded to stage with some more instances of it and they're arranged so that they produce enough bubbles to cover pretty much the whole screen...
So far so good... the trouble is that this project is meant to be projected into a hologram, and needs to be positioned, rotated and distorted to fit the irregular projection space...
My idea is to just leave the particle generating swf as it is and load it into another swf, then do all the positioning and rotationing as if it were a movieclip... My knowledge of Flash and the way movieclips have they own local spaces tells me that this has no reason to not work... but apparently, loaded swf's have a mind of their own...
I'm loading the swf using the UILoader component, which seemed to me the easiest way to get it working, since it doesn't need to be dynamic or anything... I just want to position it once, save it at that, and leave it be...
the trouble is that once loaded, the particle generating swf spawns it's emmiters (there are 5) in relation to stage space, and not loader space... so it doesn't respect it's boundaries or orientation...
I've tried all possible settings of the UILoader parameters... none seem to work with an swf that is creating movieclips at runtime...
Does anyone know why this is? I'm probably missing something stupid here... I'm feeling rather dumb today... yesterday I created the whole particle emmiter and bubble physics in 2 hours, but today it seems my head doesn't want to go and I'm stuck with this rather silly problem...
I tried placing the UILoader into another movieclip, so that any loaded content would be inside that movieclip's space, but it just doesn't respect any orientation... btw, I'm not rotating it by code... yet... I was trying to get it working using the editor, which would indeed be much faster and simpler.
Does flash.display.Loader determine the file by filename or header?
The reason why I ask is that I'm getting an IOError: "Unknown File Type" when loading an swf which has a strange filename (in the form of "filename.randomnumbersandletters.swf").
I want to do is add a simple hyperlink in my xmlhtml hyperlink in my xml.how to do a hyperlink in xml.This is what I do know,you can add the <a href="http:[url]...but that does not work for me,when i save and preview my fla, it takes away my scroll bar that i have.I have also seen somwhere you can use the <?[[DATA tag, but this aswell doesnt work for me in my FLA, is there somewhere i need to reference hyperlinks before I can modify my xml?
I don't have a clue on what I'm doing wrong. Sometimes, when I open this page my html page , the swf don't appear. It won't happen always, but is really frequent.Important: when it don't appear, I do can hear the sounds that the swf movie makes. In other words, I'm shure that the object is on the page, but it just won't be visualizable.The error occurs on Firefox and Chrome (I didn't see it happening with IE, but I won't doubt that it is possible)The problem isn't in the swf because I have already tested with another file that have no code at all and the same problem occurs.Here is the page's code, generated by Flash CS5.5 when publishing the swf:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
When I test and simulate download it shows me the progress of the file loading but the screen is blank white.Here is the code: I have two scenes...this is the preloader scene actions frame 1. Scene one works fine but the preloader doesn't show up
import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.ProgressEvent; function update(e:ProgressEvent):void[code]................
I'm using the code below on preloaders.[code]It doesn't always show all of my preloader, ie: by about 25% of the preloader animation it jumps to the movie. I still want the preloader to play all the frames before it goes to the movie regardless of download speed. Also sometimes it sticks on the final frame of the movie for a few seconds and then jumps to the main scene.
I'm trying to make text disappear and appear letter by letter, so i'm using dynamic text. I've made this code which should do this, the only problem is that the text won't show up. I used trace to check what does the dynamic text box contains after the code has done it's job and it contains what it should. So I don't really understand where the problem is. I've embeded all the lowercase letters since I'm only using those... I don't know what else to add here... except the code offcourse:
Code: if (_root.butonselectat<>"") { stop();
[Code]....
Ignore all the "ifs" they just make the code do it's job when it should. And it seems that they work correctly. The first "for" cycle removes the text letter by letter and it only works if there is some text in the dynamic textbox while the second "for" adds the text letter by letter. I have the same code on two keyframes in the first layer and the the dynamic textbox on the second layer with only one keyframe.
I've been told by another intern where I work, that I must package the game I'm making in an swf file and then preload it.So I'm trying that but fail.I have two issues:1) I use BitmapImages but don't know anymore what to do with them. Is I preload the swf does that mean all images the game uses are automatically are preloaded as well? 2) When I try to preload my own game, it doesn't show up. Oh uhmm.. I use flashdevelop so the preloader project has a Preloader class and a Main class. My game has a Main class as well.Below is the code I use to preload my own game:
I just want to know why a dynamic text doesn't show in the swf movie.Let me explain a little more: I have a mc within a main time line in wich is another mc,this mc have photos and a dynamic text who must be scrolled to view all of it,but the text doesn't appears! Below you will see a snapshot of the mc where you can see the level of it also.I've checked the actions script but there's no problem with it. here is the AS:
I made text box, typed some text, converted it to a movie clip, named etc. Used a purchased and proven scroller component ... followed directions to the letter, including referencing/linking the files. However, when I tried to test the scroll bar .... the scroll bar appears, scrolls and works perfectly except the text does not appear. I have tried making a scroll bar with the UIscrollbar same thing happens. I made an other attempt and put pics along with the text in the movie clip ... this time the pics appeared and scrolled, but the text still would not appear.
