Flex :: Align Image To Bottom When It Doesn't Fill The Space Allocated For <mx:Image> ?
Mar 28, 2011
I have an image that doesn't fill the <mx:Image> tag because it's not the exact dimensions (it is too short) and I have maintainAspectRatio set to true:
The <mx:Image> tag has a fixed width and height (it's 100% of the tile size--this is in an ItemRenderer). How do I get the image to sit on the bottom of the <mx:Image> tag?
I'm trying to display some simple information in an Alert (I'd rather not use an alert, but I need a fast n' simple solution for a project that's got to be out the door asap)
how large I make the alert, my information never stretches out, and ends up being clipped.
I can actually scroll through the text with the mousewheel, but that's no good.
The image says it all. I can't imagine Alert just doesn't handle this.

Code:
var myAlert:Alert = Alert.show("The package you have selected includes a feature(s) you've already selected. We have removed the individual features for you."); myAlert.height = 150*2; myAlert.width = 350*2;
When insert an image into TLF in flex3, I found that image in TLF is displayed in a square area. so there is some space at the top of the image. See the attached image for this problem. How to remove this space? I try the following method, But it doesn't work!
Any way to bottom-left align components? An <HBox .../> nested in a <Canvas .../> doesn't work because the elements in the HBox are top-aligned instead of bottom aligned.
For example, I'd like my components to be aligned like this: +-------------+ <-- container | components | | | V | | V +--+ | | +-+ | | | | +-+ +--+ | +-------------+
For some reason, if you add an image to htmlText, like the following: myText.htmlText = "<img src='"+dataProvider.bodyImage.getUrl('original')+"' align='left' />" + dataProvider.bodyText; The image will be successfully added to the htmlText, but it seems to measure the sizes completely wrong. At times, the actual text (dataProvider.bodyText) will have part 'hidden' under the image. At other times, there are anywhere from 1 to 4 lines cut off at the bottom. However, if you select the text and drag your mouse down, you can see the bottom lines. It appears the text is all there, but the mx:Text component is not including the image in the textHeight, so it doesnt resize the componenet to the correct size.
I only really need the HBox answer but figure that if we get a good answer in here I'm trying to do a similar thing with a VBox. It would be nice to know this in both actionscript and MXML. So I have an HBox that I want some text aligned from the left and some radios from the right. Like so:
I was laying out my Flex components using mxml and had them working correctly. But then I wanted to switch them over to Actionscript because I wanted them to extend a base component that provides default functionality.
I've go the code working except that my components that used to fill the entire space using width="100%" and height="100%" appear to display just using the default sizes. Do you know How I can get them to take up the entire space again?
Here is a test component I am playing with that exhibits the problem.
i am writing a program that need to load photoshowever, there is limitation in flex that users cannot load photos with pixel above 4069 x 4069 into a bitmapdata.how can i check photos pixel before running to error? since some pictures are big nowadays, i would llike to check the user`s system memory and free harddisk space. See if the computer have enough space to load the photos.
I have an application that I'm migrating from flex 3 to flex 4.5. In this application, there is some mx Image components that load a simple swf file (image). Spark image doesn't load swf files, so I was wondering, should I keep the mx Image, or should I change it to SWFLoader? Is there any advantages to using one or the other?
I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image
I have an image on the stage which is bigger than the stage itself:
The stage is 700x550
The image is 2100x1650, and it's registration point is at its center, if I remember correctly.The initial location of the image on the stage is 350,75.I want to make sure that the user will be able to drag the image, as long as the edges of the image doesn't show.here's what I did:
mapRect = new Rectangle(0-mapMC.width/2, 0-mapMC.height/2, mapMC.width, mapMC.height);
and later on:
mapMC.startDrag(false,mapRect);
The the top and the left of the image are bounded well, but as far as the bottom and the right side of the image.
I'm using Agile Uploader in my project to resize image before upload on client side.And it works fine except one thing: if image name contains cyrillic letters it fails with server error 500.
How to avoid this or if needed how to rename file with english letters "on fly" (possibly with javascript).
Im trying to create a layout in flex using mxml, the layout contains a Canvas component and a Box. The layout should always be such that the Box sits at the bottom edge of the application and has a fixed height, whereas the Canvas fills the remaining stage area and does not overlap with the Box. My MXML is as follows;
recently I got a jagged image problem when scaling. I set my image components smoothBitmapContent true, and it works properly the first time, but if I reset the source, the images return jagged. It seems like the smoothBitmapContent property has been changed to false, but it doesn't work even if I set it to true in run time.Here's is my code:
i want to rotate 3D an Image called img1 in Flex. I want to rotate it around y axis 180 degree. I can do this by using 3D effect already built in Flex but i want to do a bit more different. I want during rotating, there's another image called img2 appear on back of img1 (in default case, the image appear on the back is img1) and when rotating finish, the image will be img2.
I am loading an image into an html textfield. The image loads fine, my problem is that Flash keeps wrapping the image in a <p> tag, so the image is never aligned to the top of my textfield.
i want to show more than One image On stage Using Loader class and withOut Xml ..for these purpose i written code below but i suffer with Align these image .......in my stage i can view only single Image.
Code----------- public class mydoc extends MovieClip {
I have the following code layout in mxml. The button will be positioned correctly in the middle, but the text remains anchored to the top. This is not the behavior of the spark component label, but I need multiple style runs in the text and have found the mxText component to be the best solution...
I have created a slideshow, in which image is loaded dynamically from a xml. the issue is the images gets aligned to left ,top position by default. i want it to center align.

Since there is no actionscript function to set the registration point of a movieclip, I created a movieclip that I want to hold my image in my Project.fla file with a centered registration point I then add the movieclip to the stage in my Project.as file:var holder:Holder = new Holder();addChild(holder);The holder is successfully on the stage, and I now load my external image file that I would like to be inside of my image placeholder:var imageLoader:Loader;imageLoader = new Loader();imageLoader.load(new RLRequest("images/ball1.png"));addChild(imageLoader);What I am now trying to do is insert the imageLoader into my holder so that I can alter it as though the registration point is in the center
What I want to do is have an image and fill within the contour of the image with circles of selected size. what would be the first step in doing this? Or is this even possible simply in AS3?
I'm loading an image in a UILoader Component (created during runtime). var lb:UILoader = new UILoader(); addChild(lb); Now when I load any image into this then it loads on top of everything.I know this is because it goes over the top of stack. But is there any solution by which i can move it downwards or even at the bottommost layer. I've tried setChildIndex(lb, 0) though but it didn't work.
I have a movieclip that is only a blue square. However, i want to "fill" that blue square with a pattern made out of an image x.jpg (or x.png, whatever).
I'm having a small problem with aligning movieclips. I have 2 movieclips.
For examples sake let's call them
black_box red_box
I need red_box to align to the bottom left of black_box. Now the code I'm using works when black_box lays on the 0 axis for both x and y. But since the positioning of these movieclips are dynamic I'm having problems.
I'm almost sure I just need to add in the current x and y values into the equation but I simply can't figure it out
